Why did Dudu Fischer have to sing to Obama

Towards the end of March 2013, the then US president, Obama, visited Israel. When all of a sudden, Dudu Fischer (pronounced: Fischer), a well known Israel singer and cantor, sang to him a well known song, taken from Jewish prayers. The question is, why? What did he want to gain out of that? The answer may be, that since it was just a few days before Pesach (Passover), and that singer's wife wanted to clean their home, she sent him away until she finished cleaning, and he was board, and the only thing he could spend his time doing was to sing to Obama.
