From personal experience, being tormented is one of the worst feelings in the world. I start to question God's love for me, my salvation, start hating people and myself, all while trying to figure out what I did wrong, or maybe because I'm doing something right? But chances are its because of my sin...usually lust. That's why Jesus warned me to not to grieve the Holy Spirit with my sin because it will abandon me until I repent, for my own good. "My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in"

It is interesting that King David prayed to God in Psalm 51: 11 KJV "Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me." Having seen God take away the Holy Spirit from his predecessor King Saul it must have been in his mind after committing adultery and murdering Uriah the Hittite that he may share Saul's fate. Both Saul and David sinned but David had the humility to recognise the fact ask God's forgiveness and repent. May God give us the same heart. Amen.

Everyone is either in light or darkness. When we switch off the lights, darkness will naturally take over. Either we are with the Lord or with satan. There is no in-between.

James 1:13-14 KJV Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: [14] But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. That being said, God will sanction a fight for testing, correction or punishment.

Thank you for this. I know someone who uses this passage to excuse their own unreasonableness, claiming theres an evil spirit if the gaslighting is not accepted. Such an important topic, not one to be taken lightly.

Are we not all guilty of disobedience? Is Gods character not described as all loving and all forgiving? The idea that God would send an evil spirit goes against EVERYTHING I have been taught. I need a better explanation.

Here's a question my unbelieving son asked me......why did God allow Satan to come to earth if everything was perfect in the garden of Eden...
@deanfry879

The simple, and the hard, answer is if we had no need for mercy, we could not know God's mercy (Romans 11:32-36).

Romans 11: 32-36 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” 36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. Unbelievers want to argue with God and prove him wrong. Believers know that God loves them and that they can never understand/be equal to Him nor do they want to be. It is a matter of the spirit in which you come into God's presence. Psalm 131: 1 My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. May we all be content to say: The Lord is my Shepherd.

@@andrewcolwell5494 You started your quote from Romans with verse 33; here is verse 32: "For God has bound everyone over to disobedience that He may have mercy on them all". Many people do not like this verse.

@grapefruit5690, the Holy Spirit doesn't leave. Make sure to rightly divide scripture. The old Testament the announting (the Spirit) can leave but in the new the Holy Spirit is sealed.

Are we not all guilty of disobedience? Is Gods character not described as all loving and all forgiving? The idea that God would send an evil spirit goes against EVERYTHING I have been taught. Supposedly Gods character is eternal and has not changed. The scripture does not say God *allowed* a demon or a spirit to torment Saul, in all translations, it is clear that God sent the spirit. I need a better explanation. This is beyond unsettling.

My question is, did Saul go to hell because he committed suicide? The Bible doesn't say....and he went to hell. The same question applies to Judas Iscariot. Thank you.
@stand4truth607
@stand4truth607 2 ай бұрын
Any answer would be speculation. There is no clear answer to this in scripture. It would depend on a lot of factors that only God would know. What if the person had time to repent during the act? Only the Lord God would know that..

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. While you are here, I have another question. For those who die that are saved, the second death has no power over them right? So why do so many preach, teach and believe that those condemned to the second death experience conciousness in eternal damnation? Is Satan concious while he burns in the lake of fire? I can't find it anywhere in the Bible that supports this teaching. In my understanding death means death, when the body dies it becomes dust. So surely the destruction of the soul means just that, it ceases to exist. Thank you.

Why would suicide be sin? If God is telling Saul to commit mass genocide, then it is hypocritical to condemn suicide, isn't it? If a person finds themselves unworthy of life, who is anyone to judge them ?
@stand4truth607
@stand4truth607 2 ай бұрын
@amyrenee1361 Well, first off, God alone is worthy to judge all. What a silly response. Firstly, He created everyone so that alone qualifies Him. Second of all, He knows the motive and reason behind every action. For that reason, no one can truly say that a person who committed suicide can not be saved. That doesn't it make it not a sin. However, I don't believe that every person who commits suicide goes to hell. Scripture says nothing about it for all who claim to know with certainty. A person could repent in the middle of the act and cry out to God. One thing is certain, we will all know on Judgment Day.

No no no, hold up. You can not change the word "sent" to allowed to make this more easy to explain. In KJV, ESV and others the Bible says "sent". So why did God SEND evil to a man that made him want to murder ?? That's the question.

Even David, who was to be King, wouldn’t talk so vile against a man God had put as head over His people. If you have nothing of worth to add, please keep your crudeness to yourself. There are those here who hold God’s chosen as being covered by Him. Only God has the right to discipline Saul, not you.
