Even though it’s difficult I keep faith because I know God will change my situation. I trust in you Father and keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children. I’m so ashamed. The past two years have been hard on me. I’m a single mom. I suffered an heart attack and I’m battling lupus. Both of my sons are autistic and to be honest Heavenly Father I’m so overwhelmed. I’m constantly struggling financially to buy groceries and struggling to pay my rent and now that I’m home schooling my sons I’m struggling to buy their school supplies. I want to give up. But even in hard times I know I must choose to have faith. No matter our struggle, we can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. This story had nothing to do with Gomer completely, but Hosea wha a prophet and he had to go and warn the people about their idolatry and them turning their backs on God, just like America is acting today and taking his mercy for granted. He was not as clever as a prophet as I would have expected. :) The lesson is simple in life: Men walk in one line, based on faith and presumptions. They only want to see what they want to see and hear what they feel is relevant to their life that does not tarnish their soul. To marry a prostitute is to humble a prophet in understanding that even the 'supposed worse of the worse' in people's eyes, have something of value to teach. If he married her, and then screwed her, but did not take the time to sit and listen to her, or her interactions with people in life, he would have learned nothing. In essence, the act itself would have been a complete waste. Tithings going straight to millionaire “pastors” instead of gathered to provide for the poor and valuing “pastors” and their opinions over the “flock”. it was about making the people believe in repentance and reform and also to showcase that the reason why people are immoral in lower levels of the class structure is out of necessity. the culture of the time was not like today...where we have cast the first stone mentailities with other embedded proverbs like calling the kettle black. no one ever admitted fault. each man was fully hypocritical and perfect in the face of others. by having hosea marry of them (who was surely not still doing that occupation), god was trying to illustrate that if given the chance, those women too would desire a life of dignity. but of course, as was the culture, she was probably lured into a trap and that is why he had to publicly condemn her as LoRuhama and poor kid (who was not his) has to be branded Lo Ammi. it may have even been a pagan traveler who impregnated her. the bible is true but there are many details missing and thats why there used to be and still are lots of supplementary writings.
