I had instant buyer's remorse when I brought this home. It is U-G-L-Y!!!!
All three rows of drawers have various degrees of beveling. Why??? And because of this, there's no way to get away from using a bijillion pieces of hardware. And whoever painted it before I bought it made a humongous mess with the paint! Ugh! After 1-1/2 years of being uninspired, I was ready to sell it as is for $15 just to get rid of it. It was Kevin that said, "No, let me work on it for you." And so he did. But then we discovered stains in the bare wood that wouldn't sand away.

Those areas you were asking about that you covered with the paint stripes is inherent with maple. I can’t think of the term for it but it is just a natural part within the grain of maple

Matching the hardware to the top and then the stripes to the rest of the dresser was a great idea! Looks very nice. Oh and beware of the lady who says that when she hears someone call it modge podge, not mod podge, she immediately turns off the video (ha ha)--that's what I call it, too 🙂.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! In my last video I called it Hodge Podge!😂😂😂😂😂😂 I literally looked at the product online before I did my voice over and confirmed it was Mod Podge so why did I say it wrong? Again??? I am cracking myself up over here!!!!! Every time I think I’m going to stop laughing, I start all over again. Oh my goodness. Well I guess I better not call them for a sponsorship. 😂

This really turned out great, and the colors blended beautifully! I’m a new sub, so I’m curious as to why you didn’t trim the base straight to match the more modern look you created? I’ll be watching all your videos to see if you ever do that, but just wondering! 😊

@@Heather-o7s thank you! I have done that before but with this dresser I didn’t want to spend a lot of time on it. I had been uninspired (is that a word?) for so long that I wanted a quick turn. That’s why I didn’t want to keep working on the hardware holes either. Thanks for the sun! 🙂

I was having second thoughts about the base since you brought that up. But after rewatching the end of the video I was reminded that I would have had to trim the curves on the sides too. And the sides of the front base curves out as well, and I wouldn't have been able to trim them straight down. But ... I'm about to put it on the market. I'm going to stage it as a changing table or child's dresser. If it doesn't sell, I'll rethink the base. Thanks again for your question. It was worth revisiting.

Oh I’m thinking it will sell-and very quickly I would think, just as it is! Again, I was simply curious as to your “taste” as it was my first watch! Thanks for sharing your reasoning! 😊
