This was filmed , I believe a few days after Michael Jackson had died, and Janet Jackson was just projecting her sorrow of losing her big brother. She said that during interviews. Tyler Perry mentioned that the cast really rallied around Janet because she was very sorrowful, understandably so. Whilst the whole world had lost a superstar, and icon, she had lost her big brother.

Mere months after Michael's death and the film was released in 2010. So yes Janet's emotions were still very raw in these scenes. She was going through a lot. I am happy that she was able to let out her grief in a healthy way.
