The P30 is the best defensive/duty firearm on the market. It's reliability, durability, ergos, build quality, fit and finish are unmatched. With that being said, if HK could build a 1.1"-max-width contender against the G43/P365/Hellcat, esp. given the Shield Arms ammo capacity, well, let's just say it'd be nice for them to join the party!

@willieb59113 жыл бұрын
@@HankProductions I put a Vortex venom on my P30SK LEM with an EGW adapter plate. Was great except the easily exposed buttons on the side of the Venom allowed my holster to turn off the sight. I replaced it with a Deltapoint Pro with another EGW adapter plate. The unwanted button pushing problem was solved but now I have a new problem. The EGW dovetail adapter plate for the DPP on the P30SK makes the DPP sit too far back and hang off the rear of the slide. Makes it uncomfortable while carrying. I like the location of the DPP brightness adjustment button. You will never accidentally press up against it while in a holster. I just wish the EGW adapter plate was cut more like the EGW adapter plate for the venom. Doesn't make sense that the same company cuts both plates so differently for mounting on the same pistol. I thought about the Trijicon. I like how it is lower profile. But I went with the DPP because of the button location.

As someone who has been a HK fan since 2017, my start happened when my father was looking for a new pistol and at the local gun store / range he looked at a VP9, and at the time i was all glock ( except for a sig 1911 ) well while we was looking at the VP9, I'm like wow this thing in my hand feels awesome, and the paddle mag release was different but when i figured it out, i got that straight up Ahhhh HAAA moment... and the Trigger, WOW!!!!!! Well after my dad bought the gun we put a few hundred rounds thru it on the range and wow, I was completely sold on HK... Well down the rabbit hole i go and a few months later, I have a VP9, HK P30L LEM, a HK P30sk LEM, and a VP9sk, and then a few months later picked up a HK P30 V1 ... And end up selling all my Glocks lol... I do like these models because they all use the same type of magazine and the grip is the same from gun to gun... so I can easily carry the VP9sk and have a full size back up mag in my pocket.

Y0u already know that HK is my ride or die manufacturer and as a "lefty" I am in alignment with your assessment. The P30 is bomb-proof and one of the most vetted combat pistols in the market. I carry a Glock for work, ultimately due to constraints. (My main complaint with the Glock is that it is not very ambidextrous. Otherwise, I have no qualms trusting my life to a stock Glock.) That being said, I have zero qualms carrying a P30 of any variety, either. I consider it one of the single greatest pistols for police and security work. I think the only other European pistol I would put on par for police or security work is the FN 509 LE Tactical.
@ApharmdBattler3 жыл бұрын
@Mike Jones It all comes down to if you prefer a hammer-fired or striker-fired pistol. My personal preference, especially for carry is a hammer. As I like the extra safety it adds as I can thumb the hammer, and I also feel that mastering a DA/SA trigger makes you an overall better shooter as you learn trigger control as you refine your technique. But I also carry striker fire as well. Again, it all comes down to personal preference. I own just about every P30 and VP model, so let me know if you have further questions.

Saw a guy hit steel at 300 yds with the VP9, on the 3rd and 4th shots, probably after just viewing a Miculek video, and it was the first time shooting it, back in 2014. But he fell in love with the P30 LEM after shooting it twice. Reduced reset is definitely the ticket, which makes it more USP LEM like. Of which there used to be 4. Same with the P2000 & sk. And HK45 & 45c. He shot the VP9sk from 5 out to 50 yds from concealment while moving back and forth, and did not miss. Awesome 1st and only gun, but it takes time, and work, and study, to be proficient with anything. A Glock, a 1911, a P7, are all other options that can do well what you need to have done. Or so I've heard........

Try an outside the waistband paddle holster. mine conceals easily under a suit coat and it is easy to remove when you get in and out of a vehicle or sitting at your desk. I made my own paddle holster out of leather and now all my other holsters are just collecting dust.

@@Cavemale2000I had considered that style but the problem with this type I think is the pistol is completely exposed when the coat opens.

I carry a light on all my carry guns not only for the possibility of low light but also for the weight on the front end. They shoot so much better. I’m a retired cop off 32 years, competition shooter, and edc person 😎😎
@Falconryder4 жыл бұрын
Retired cop? So what's your opinion on this grey guns trigger job? I can see how that extremely short reset would be more fun to target shoot, but wouldn't that be a liability in a duty scenario or a self-defense situation, in terms of possible accidental trigger pulls?

I am big fan of DA/SA semi-auto handguns. Beretta PX4 compact Carry LLT edition is my favorite handgun. I have to look into HK P30 LEM. John thank you for making this video. I have a question for you john can you change double action and make it around 8 pounds pull trigger? I personal like the traditional double action handgun “feel”.

Yes they make a LEM variant are about that weight.

Very specific question for the defensive and tactical world... For hammer fired, if you get a click without a bang is it ALWAYS best to pull the trigger again and hope for a bang this time or is it better practice to just rack again???

I've always been trained to tap/rack to clear the malfunction (given it's a "basic" malfunction).

When will HK send optic cuts for the other pistol lineup?
@ASPextra2 жыл бұрын
It’s a good question. I think it takes a good bit of retooling to do, so not sure if they’re willing to refresh the P30, USP, 45, etc to get that done.
@kertp84824 жыл бұрын
You carry the P30LEM for the same reasons I carry a Sig P250. My Sig has a 6 lb trigger, as opposed to your 5 lb, and the reset on my Sig is standard just like a double-action revolver, but dang, I really like this gun and was upset with Sig for discontinuing the P250. I do wish I could fit it with a red dot, so maybe I will check out the HK later this year when I move to a state that does not require me to waive my HIPAA rights in order to purchase a handgun. I've been working with a P320 with a red dot, and I really do like the red dot, just not a fan of the P320 for my EDC.

Unsure why you say that but I recently got the X compact and it shoots and feels great but was looking at the P320 Compact and VP9 to get next but I think I'm going to wait for the P320 X Carry Tacops this year as a general home defense and maybe conceal if I switch the barrel to be flush.
@kertp84824 жыл бұрын
@@FezzUG I'm not sure which part of my comment that you are unsure of, but I will assume it is that Sig discontinued the P250. I like the P250 because it has a trigger that reminds me of my double-action revolvers. I grew up with double-action revolvers and still love them. The P250 is also hammer-fired, which gives me the same safety that John talks about with his P30LEM. I own a P320 RX and I do enjoy spending range time with it. I don't like the trigger on it as much as I like my P250. You know...some folks like Ford F-150s and others like Ford F-350s, or Toyotas, or Dodge Rams, or whatever. That is why we get to choose. I hope you will be happy with your choice of handguns. The selection on the market is great, and we all ought to enjoy them safely. Now, if you are unsure why I don't like giving up my HIPAA rights in order to purchase a handgun, I recommend you think about how much our government misuses the information we give them already. That part will be solved for me when I move later this year.

@@kertp8482 whoops sorry I wasn't specific, I was unsure why you didn't like the P320 for EDC but you answered my question, more power to you, I recently enjoyed the P320 as an EDC but I do need to try a woder range of firearms from Sig with a hammer.

Since I jumped on the HK train the LEM system has really interested me. My current daily carry is a P2000 but I have both a P30L and HK45 now. I don't mind the heavier DA triggers on HK's but the LEM I tried seemed much smoother with less stacking just before the break.
