Inflation has fallen from where it was. The issue that everyone feels is the prices still go up even as the inflation rate goes down. Prices do not fall until you see deflation. Most people confuse falling inflation with falling prices.

Inflation is not the same thing as price. The inflation rate is down from its ridiculous rise over the last few years. The inflation rate is the percentage of price increases over a given time period. As long as there is any inflation the price of a good will still rise. The only time you will see a price decrease is when there is deflation. What you are seeing happen is the compounding effects of inflation at very high rates over several years due to poor government policies. Prices are up 50 percent on many goods over the last few years and will continue to rise as long as there is any inflation at all. The fed likes to see it at 2 percent. That means even if they hit their target you will still be paying more. Unfortunately the government likes to confuse people with using the statement "inflation is down" rather than prices are not going down and will continue to rise at a slower rate, which is the reality.
