what? it was a coincidence he looked behind as he moved out of the line and saw Soler already coming... pretty easy to start ramping up his own cadence to mark it. THen it's Kuss who doesn't follow - and is looking at Mas to defend his placing... who doesn't come through, and thus the 2 get a gap quickly.

As the dutch team they are, I can't wait to see Jumbo bringing to the sport the concept of "Total Cycling" where there everyone in the team is a captain and a domestique at the same time
@rdklkje13
@rdklkje13 Жыл бұрын
That's a significant part of what you've been watching since early 2022. Merijn Zeeman asked Erik ten Hag for advice re team building because of his total football experience. One of the reasons I wonder why (even some Dutch) people keep expressing disbelief at the idea that they're truly riding the way they're clearly riding at the moment. Moving from the more traditional patrón plus lowly domestiques in a super macho sport, to an understanding of how being a true team will actually be much better for them and get them better results, at least till the rest catch up.

Jonas Vingegaard has truly become the Dr. Manhattan of 3 week racing. "Jonas, could you win this race for us?" "Ok I'll do it", "Jonas go kill this breakaway attempt and no witnesses please" "No problem", "Jonas we need to win the stage, are you up for it?" "Sure, I have nothing pressing atm". It's like asking a god to do your plumbing for you. "I'll do it, if it's ok that I also solve the climate emergency at the same time".

Why are people trying to see a problem with the situation JV is currently in. They wouldn't risk a Vingegaard vs. Soler situation while they can simply be in the top 3 with 3 riders when they countered that attack.
@bunnylands916
@bunnylands916 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Jumbo has incredible depth and everyone's been riding extremely well. It's good strategy to keep the top three guys riding as co-leaders as long as possible, since that gives Jumbo three chances to win the Vuelta and a shot at sweeping the podium. If one of them falters, Jumbo can shift them to domestique mode at that point, and I have no doubt they would do so. Also, if Ayuso manages to displace one of them, I'm sure Jumbo would switch to a single-leader-surrounded-by-domestiques format to protect (or try to regain) the red jersey. However, if all three stay strong (and lucky -- no crashes or mechanicals) and keep the podium spots, I expect their relative positions will be sorted out by the mountains. I'd love to see Kuss win the Vuelta, but he's riding in his third grand tour this year while Roglic and Vingegaard each skipped one, so I don't know whether his legs will hold up in comparison with theirs. Kuss has looked really good so far, but the last week will be brutal and there's no way to gauge how much he'said got left in the tank. In contrast, Roglic was able to take time after the Giro to recover before preparing for the Vuelta. He came here as Jumbo's team leader; if he hits another level next week (as I've seen him do in other races), he could ride away from everyone on L'Angliru. Vingegaard didn't have the recovery and prep time of Roglic, but he got stronger each week of the TdF. If he's able to repeat that pattern at the Vuelta, he'll probably take the jersey on Stage 17 and keep it all the way to Madrid. There's also the possibility that Ayuso will have a phenomenal Stage 17 and end up with the jersey. I don't think that's likely to happen, but I'm not ready to count him out. Should be a great week of racing, no matter who wins!

Big break away with Soler. If JV decided to let the break away go it would be Vingegaard vs. Soler with a small risk of Vingegaard losing from Soler. If they bring it back they have 3 riders for the GC.

I hate to see anyone crash, but arguably Kamna would've had less of a lead if he'd been riding conservatively enough to avoid crashing, in which case Costa might have won anyway. As it was, the cat-and-mouse between Costa and Buitrago (plus how quickly Kamna got back on the bike) gave him a second chance at the stage, but Costa was just too strong at the finish.

Why did TJV chase Jonas? Well, they didn’t… They did chase Soler to send a message to the other gc riders I think we as cycling fans need to understand what TJV is trying to do: Finishing 1,2 and 3 on the podium. Not because they think it’s funny or the bash the fans watching. No the one and only reason they are trying this is for the money they get for those places. Would you throw away money so everyone else finds it more enjoyable to watch? Don’t think so… Besides this, who’s fault is it TJV dominating this Vuelta? There’s because they are to good? Or are the others teams just slacking? Of course the fight in the tour between Jonas and Pogacar was much more exciting and fun to watch, but that was mainly due to Pogacar's will and ability to win. And not because TJV let him win ones in a while… There is no opponent like Pogacar in this Vuelta, so why do we expect TJV to make it exciting? Let’s enjoy potential history in the making and hope other teams are doing their homework for next year

Jonas is p-ssed off big time and have threathed to leave Jumbo Visma according to danish media. So could be costly what Jumbo did to him yesterday.

Danish media is saying absolutely literally nothing of the sort. Just in the unlikely case that anyone would believe that comment.

Why did they chase? JV likes JV. It's the opposite of how magnets work! 🤣 "Who's this little, yellow-jerseyed man..." is hilarious! 😆 Kuss must now work for HIMSELF, I reckon... Win the thing. M 🦘🏏😎

I thought the same but I'm starting to get the felling that they will support Kuss until Madrid...unless he cracks. Riders some time have bad days and if he loses 2 minutes he's back on domestic duty
