Poor Uriah. He was a faithful soldier/husband and was murdered. Tamar was also another tragic figure who thru no fault of her own had her life destroyed. It’s just very sad and I’m not sure how God made this right

I always find this quite a tragic story this is what happens when your not leading your soldiers by example. Why did God forgive David for his filthy deeds rather than putting him to death ? Because according to the Book of Leviticus, adultery leads to death.

Because he sincerely repented. He still suffered the consequences. God sent someone with a message for David so that he could see the error in his way. David received the message- God spoke directly to David's heart through the messenger, and it brought conviction. He does the same thing for us at times. We sometimes forget that God sees all. There is nothing that we can hide from Him. David dealt with the consequences for the rest of his life. But God still forgave him and loved him. Our God is so good, though we fall short.

@sheresh that was what they used to do in the Old Testament. It was the law. David tried to cover it up and apparently got away with it according to society. But he never really got away with it because of the many years of consequences.
