Marriage for me is like living with my best friend. I met my husband in middle school. We're barely in our 30s but have known each other 20 years. People say that people change and that might be true. But for him to turn into a completely different person than what he has been these past 20 years, a person that I can't love, is highly unlikely.
@cymbamcreynolds88382 жыл бұрын
This is the goal. I feel like ppl who think marriage is miserable are the ones trying to fit into a box the moment the proposal becomes real. They switch up to fit the mold because that's what they're told marriage is and should be to be long lasting even if they know that mindset and pressure is failing many couples. Couples should make the box (marriage) fit them and not the other way around. Those are the couple I see who are truly happy. I want to spend my life with someone I can smile with more times than not
@alexia35522 жыл бұрын
If you guys made it past 22 and still want to be together, going from middle school past about that age is the most drastic series of growth/changes imo. After that it seems like people just become more themselves, in a good way ☺️
@LoreCatan2 жыл бұрын
@@cymbamcreynolds8838 I think that's part of it, but I also think dating culture encourages unhealthy relationships, if you know what I mean? Like, just the concept of getting to know people through dates is unhealthy in my opinion, cause it puts a lot of pressure on people right away. You feel like you can't be yourself because then no one will give you the time of day, which just isn't true. They shouldn't be called dates, if you're trying to get to know someone, albeit romantically, you should just call it hanging out, and if you don't feel attraction, y'all can become friends instead. But then it gets worse, because if you do manage to have a good time on this date you'll feel obligated to view it romantically, and you'll try to force feelings that sometimes just aren't there, and most people are horrible at figuring out that they make great friends, but horrible partners. And it's also because once you find someone you like hanging out with, you're so lonely you don't want to admit that to yourself, you want to keep going and make it a relationship and sometimes you're lucky and it works, but more often than not you both end up miserable and you break up. And this routine becomes a cycle so people just end up thinking they're unlovable or like there's something wrong with them, when they're just starting it the wrong way. When I met my partner, she asked me out immediately, but I wasn't ready for relationships at the time for a lot of reasons, so we became best friends instead. It was during that time I got better through her support, learned to socialize more by getting introduced into her circle of friends [and playing dnd with them every saturday], and every time she managed to crumble another one of my walls she liked what she found, it made me fall for her instantly, and she waited for me for an entire year. I fully intend to marry this girl, I can well and truly say that my partner is my best friend and I don't want someone else. Meeting people naturally, and letting it evolve from there is definitely the way to go about it when you're trying to date, but I get that I'm biased, because that's what worked for me.
@blueskies7732 жыл бұрын

You can have a good marriage if your not compatible but yeah, you probably just wont have as much fun. that being said, I don't think people should compromise verymuchh when deciding whether to marry. If the person your with has a trait or combination of traits that you can't live with everyday for the rest of your life then don't marry them because people's character traits tend to become more pronounced as time goes on, we don't change as much as people would suspect. that dad crying on the first day of school, reminded me of my first day of school, and i thought my grandma was leaving me for good, i cried all day long, no one could calm me down, they even called her back 2 hours later, even the kid next to me tried to calm me down. I'm crying now. She was the only one in my life that showed me genuine love. yes, not even my own mother. school turned out to be right up the street from her. I never noticed it before. She passed away when I was overseas. I loved her so much.

Start learning to show some care with food to partner. Be mature

@@tingle2323 I disagree, everyone likes to have their alone time, even in a relationship. To me, when I eat, that's my moment. My SO should respect that, if she wants something to share, we can get something to share

@@tingle2323 Start learning to order what you want instead of grabbing someone else's food that they're trying to enjoy, if you want fries or chicken or a biscuit, get your own at the counter that you were literally just at.
