It is clear and explicit in the Torah itself (the Five Books of Moses) that it is God's commandment that remains in its original form forever without change, addition, or diminishment - as it is stated, "All these matters which I command to you, you shall be careful to perform. You may not add to it or diminish from it;" and as it is also stated, "What is revealed is for us and our children forever, to carry out all the words of this Torah." This teaches that we are commanded to fulfill all the Torah's directives forever, to the full extent that we are able to do so. It is also said: "It is an everlasting statute for all your generations," and, "It is not in the Heavens." This teaches that a prophet can no longer truthfully claim that he has been told by God to add a new permanent precept as being commanded by God.

Even if you reject what Paul wrote and want to live under the law, you still have to deal with SIN.. It doesn’t magically go away because you want to live under the Law and all 613 laws. Thank you for this response. Could you provide the scripture references that you have mentioned? I was reading Yirmayahu 31:31-34. concerning a "new covenant". " Behold, the days come, says Hashem, that I shall cut a new covenant with the house of Yisrael and the house of Judah. Not according to the covenant that I cut with their fathers in the day that I held them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Misrayim; which my covenant they broke, though I was a husband to them, says HaShem." " But this shall be the covenant that I shall cut with the house of Yisrael after those days, says HaShem. I shall put my torah in their inner part and inscribe them in their hearts, and shall be their Elohim, and they shall be my people, and they shall teach no more every man their neighbor, and every man his friend, saying, Know HaShem." " For they all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says HaShem, for I shall forgive their iniquity, and I shall remember their sin no more." This mention of a new covenant intrigues me. What's your take on it. Also I happened upon Yechiel 36:24-27 in which HaShem says He will remove the stony heart from within His people and replace with a heart of flesh, put His Spirit within them and enable them to walk in His statues and keep His judgements. So HaShem will enable His people to keep His ways by giving them His Spirit. When will this come to pass? What do you think about this and thanks for your help. Shalom.

The argument that the Torah's commandments remain unchanged and eternally binding in their original form, despite the destruction of the Temple, presents a significant contradiction. As Leviticus 4:19-20 clearly illustrates, the system of atonement for sin required both a sacrificial offering and the mediation of a Levitical priest. These two elements were integral to the law: without the sacrificial system, which involved the Temple and its priests, it was impossible to receive forgiveness for sins. Therefore, the law, as a whole, cannot be practiced today due to the absence of the Temple. Since the Temple was destroyed in 70 CE, it has been impossible to perform the sacrifices required for atonement as stated in Leviticus. The law was designed as an interconnected system-sacrifices, priesthood, rituals-none of which can be fulfilled without the Temple. To claim that the law remains fully in effect today, while a central part of it (the sacrificial system) is unattainable, leads to an inherent contradiction. Either the law must be followed in its entirety, as intended, or it is no longer applicable in its original form. The destruction of the Temple created a reality where it is impossible to obey the law as it was originally given. To insist that the law is still in effect, while key elements such as sacrifices and priestly mediation are no longer possible, would suggest that God either intended for the law to be only partially obeyed-something contrary to the Torah’s emphasis on the completeness of the law-or that a significant transformation in how atonement and forgiveness are provided has occurred. The latter suggests that the sacrificial system was a temporary measure, pointing to a greater fulfillment beyond the physical Temple. Thus, holding onto the notion that the law is still fully in force despite the impossibility of adhering to its sacrificial commands creates a theological contradiction-either divine or human. If the law must be obeyed in its entirety, then the destruction of the Temple marked the end of its practical application, demonstrating that the law, as it once stood, cannot still be in effect today in its original form.

@@anthonycarlisle6184 I can understand but I don't think it's accurate. Paul himself definitely would not have coined the Jesus movement after himself. Paul preached Christ not himself. " And when I came to you brothers, I did not come to you with superiority of word or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God." "For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."(1st Corinthians 2:1,2) Paul entire ministry and mission was the proclamation of salvation in Jesus Christ alone. "What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as The Lord assigned to each." "I planted, Apollo watered, but God caused the growth." "So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, only God who causes the growth." (1st Corinthians 3:5-7) " For I am the least of the apostles, not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God." (1st Corinthians 15:9) It's quite clear that Paul saw himself as no more than a servant of, chosen to evangelize the good news of salvation in Christ. Of course the Muslim gentleman who responded in your thread will certainly agree with your assessment of Paul because the Muslims don't believe the testimony in the gospel, nor the message Paul preached concerning Jesus being the Son of God, crucified and resurrected as atonement for the sins of mankind.

What law did Moses deliver to the people? WHAT LAWS does Jehovah God want us to obey? Must we keep what the Bible calls “the law of Moses” or, sometimes, “the Law”? (1 Kings 2:3; Titus 3:9) This is also called “the law of Jehovah,” because he is the One who gave it. (1 Chronicles 16:40) Moses merely delivered the Law to the people. The law of Moses consists of more than 600 individual laws, or commandments, including the 10 main ones. As Moses said: “He [Jehovah] commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.” (Deuteronomy 4:13; Exodus 31:18, King James Version) But to whom did Jehovah give the Law, including the Ten Commandments? Did he give it to all humankind? What was the purpose of the Law? TO ISRAEL FOR A SPECIAL PURPOSE The Law was not given to all humankind. Jehovah made a covenant, or an agreement, with the descendants of Jacob, who became the nation of Israel. Jehovah gave his laws to this nation only. The Bible makes this clear at Deuteronomy 5:1-3 and Psalm 147:19, 20. The apostle Paul asked the question: “Why, then, the Law?” Yes, for what purpose did Jehovah give his law to Israel? Paul answered: “To make transgressions manifest, until the seed should arrive to whom the promise had been made . . . Consequently the Law has become our tutor [or, teacher] leading to Christ.” (Galatians 3:19-24) The special purpose of the Law was to protect and guide the nation of Israel so that they might be ready to accept Christ when he arrived. The many sacrifices required by the Law reminded the Israelites that they were sinners who needed a Savior.-Hebrews 10:1-4. “CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW” Jesus Christ, of course, was that promised Savior, even as the angel proclaimed at his birth. (Luke 2:8-14) So when Christ came and gave his perfect life as a sacrifice, what happened to the Law? It was removed. “We are no longer under a tutor,” Paul explained. (Galatians 3:25) The removal of the Law was a relief to the Israelites. It had shown them up as sinners, for all of them fell short of keeping that Law perfectly. “Christ by purchase released us from the curse of the Law,” Paul said. (Galatians 3:10-14) So the Bible also says: “Christ is the end of the Law.”-Romans 10:4; 6:14. The Law actually served as a barrier or “wall” between the Israelites and other peoples who were not under it. By the sacrifice of his life, however, Christ “abolished . . . the Law of commandments consisting in decrees, that he might create the two peoples [Israelite and non-Israelite] in union with himself into one new man.” (Ephesians 2:11-18) Concerning the action that Jehovah God himself took toward the law of Moses, we read: “He kindly forgave us all our trespasses and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees [including the Ten Commandments] and which was in opposition to us [because of condemning the Israelites as sinners]; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake.” (Colossians 2:13, 14) So, with the perfect sacrifice of Christ, the Law was brought to an end. Some persons, however, say that the Law is divided into two parts: The Ten Commandments, and the rest of the laws. The rest of the laws, they say, are what ended, but the Ten Commandments remain. Yet this is not true. In his Sermon on the Mount Jesus quoted from the Ten Commandments as well as other parts of the Law and made no distinction between them. Jesus thus showed that the law of Moses was not divided into two parts.-Matthew 5:21-42. Notice, too, what the apostle Paul was inspired by God to write: “Now we have been discharged from the Law.” Was it only the laws other than the Ten Commandments that the Jews were discharged from? No, for Paul goes on to say: “Really I would not have come to know sin if it had not been for the Law; and, for example, I would not have known covetousness if the Law had not said: ‘You must not covet.’” (Romans 7:6, 7; Exodus 20:17) Since “You must not covet” is the last one of the Ten Commandments, it follows that the Israelites were discharged from the Ten Commandments also. Does this mean that the law to keep a weekly Sabbath, which is the fourth of the Ten Commandments, was also removed? Yes, it does. What the Bible says at Galatians 4:8-11 and Colossians 2:16, 17 shows that Christians are not under God’s law given to the Israelites, with its requirement to keep the weekly Sabbath and to observe other special days in the year. That keeping a weekly Sabbath is not a Christian requirement can also be seen from Romans 14:5. LAWS THAT APPLY TO CHRISTIANS Does this mean that, since Christians are not under the Ten Commandments, they do not need to observe any laws? Not at all. Jesus introduced a “new covenant,” based on the better sacrifice of his own perfect human life. Christians come under this new covenant and are subject to Christian laws. (Hebrews 8:7-13; Luke 22:20) Many of these laws have been taken from the law of Moses. This is not unexpected or unusual. A similar thing often happens when a new government takes over the rule of a country. The constitution under the old government might be canceled and replaced, but the new constitution may keep many of the laws of the old one. In a similar way, the Law covenant came to an end, but many of its basic laws and principles were adopted into Christianity. Note how this is the case as you read the Ten Commandments on page 203, and then compare them with the following Christian laws and teachings: “It is Jehovah your God you must worship.” (Matthew 4:10; 1 Corinthians 10:20-22) “Guard yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21; 1 Corinthians 10:14) “Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified [not treated in a worthless way].” (Matthew 6:9) “Children, be obedient to your parents.” (Ephesians 6:1, 2) And the Bible makes clear that murder, committing adultery, stealing, lying and coveting are also against the laws for Christians.-Revelation 21:8; 1 John 3:15; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; Ephesians 4:25, 28; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Luke 12:15; Colossians 3:5. Although Christians are not commanded to keep a weekly Sabbath, we learn something from that arrangement. The Israelites rested in a literal way, but Christians must rest in a spiritual way. How? Because of faith and obedience true Christians leave off doing selfish works. These selfish works include efforts to establish their own righteousness. (Hebrews 4:10) This spiritual rest is observed not only one day a week but for all seven days. The requirement of the literal Sabbath law to set aside one day for spiritual interests protected the Israelites from selfishly using all their time to seek their own material advantage. Applying this principle every day in a spiritual way is an even more effective guard against materialism. So Christians are urged to “fulfill the law of the Christ,” rather than to keep the Ten Commandments. (Galatians 6:2) Jesus gave many commands and instructions, and by our obeying them we are keeping or fulfilling his law. In particular, Jesus stressed the importance of love. (Matthew 22:36-40; John 13:34, 35) Yes, to love others is a Christian law. It is the basis of the entire law of Moses, as the Bible says: “The entire Law stands fulfilled in one saying, namely: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’”-Galatians 5:13, 14; Romans 13:8-10. The law given through Moses, with its Ten Commandments, was a righteous set of laws from God. And even though we are not under that law today, the divine principles behind it are still of great value to us. By studying and applying them we will grow in appreciation for the great Lawgiver Jehovah God. But especially should we study and apply in our lives Christian laws and teachings. Love for Jehovah will move us to obey all that he now requires of us.-1 John 5:3.

Paul never abandoned the Old Testament, nor did he ever teach anything different, but taught Old Testament truths and concepts- The Old Testament explicitly teaches the concept of circumcision of the heart, which is foundational to Paul’s teachings in the New Testament. Paul’s emphasis on the inner transformation brought by faith in Christ aligns directly with the Torah and the Prophets, demonstrating continuity rather than a departure from Old Testament principles. Circumcision of the Heart in the Old Testament The concept of circumcision of the heart appears in several key passages, emphasizing inner obedience, love, and devotion to God over mere external rituals: Deuteronomy 10:16 * “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.” Here, Moses calls the Israelites to an internal transformation-a softening of their hearts toward God and His commands. This spiritual circumcision signifies repentance and a willingness to submit fully to God. Deuteronomy 30:6 •”And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.” * This verse ties heart circumcision to God’s transformative work, enabling His people to love Him fully and live in obedience. It anticipates a deeper, Spirit-empowered relationship with God. Jeremiah 4:4 • “Circumcise yourselves to the LORD; remove the foreskin of your hearts, O men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem.” • Jeremiah echoes Moses’ call for inner transformation, emphasizing that true covenant faithfulness requires more than outward observance. These passages reveal that the physical act of circumcision, while a sign of the covenant, was never sufficient on its own. The ultimate goal was a heart transformed to love and obey God. Paul’s Teaching on Circumcision of the Heart Paul directly connects his teaching to these Old Testament principles, showing that true circumcision is a matter of the heart, brought about by the Spirit: Romans 2:28-29 • “For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.” Paul affirms that true covenant membership is defined by inner transformation, not merely external rituals. This echoes Deuteronomy 30:6, where God Himself transforms the heart. Colossians 2:11 • “In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ.” • Paul describes the believer’s union with Christ as the fulfillment of heart circumcision, achieved through Christ’s atoning work. Continuity Between the Old Testament and Paul Paul’s teaching is deeply rooted in the Torah and prophetic tradition. He does not abolish circumcision but reveals its ultimate purpose: • The physical sign of circumcision in the Old Testament pointed to the deeper spiritual reality of a heart devoted to God. • Through the Messiah, this heart transformation becomes fully realized, as prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31-33 (the new covenant) and Ezekiel 36:26-27 (a new heart and Spirit). The Old Testament teaches circumcision of the heart as the ultimate goal of covenant faithfulness. Paul’s writings build on this foundation, demonstrating that true circumcision is an inner transformation brought about by the Spirit, not merely an outward ritual. This continuity underscores that Paul’s teachings are not a departure from the Torah but a fulfillment of its deepest intent through the Messiah.

@tre.j3589 Sir are you saying you don't need to also have actions to back up the claims you say is in your heart? Abraham had faith so much faith he was willing to take action and sacrifice his son. His submission was not just in his heart it was also going to be displayed in his actions. Circumcision of the heart and in the flesh is what God wants from us. God said to circumcise your sons so you submit and circumcise your sons by you doing so you are showing the actions of submission and faith you have in your heart like Abraham did that's how the seed of Abraham keeps the covenant and that covenant is supposed to be everlasting. But Paul teaches belief only and got rid of the actual actions of circumcision of the flesh. And kept just circumcise your heart but no need to show actions of that faith. Like we were freed from having to show any actions of that belief we say is in our hearts. Paul says works don't earn your salvation belief in Jesus death and resurrection is salvation. That's not logical! Paul is basically saying you don't have to have actions to earn salvation. If Jesus really did die for everyone's sins as Paul claims then what sin will anyone be punished for when Jesus died for everyone's sins already?

The greatest commandment, according to Jesus in the New Testament, is found in the Gospel of Matthew 22:37-40. When asked by a Pharisee about which commandment is the greatest, Jesus replied: 1. **"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."** This is the first and greatest commandment. 2. **"And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."** Jesus then added, **"All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."** This means that these two commandments summarize the core of God's will as expressed in the entirety of the Law and the Prophets.

Paul never said to abandon the law-ever. In fact, he consistently upheld the law as holy and righteous, while teaching that its ultimate purpose is fulfilled in the Messiah. Paul emphasizes that the law reveals sin and shows humanity’s need for redemption, writing, “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law” (Romans 7:7). He explains that the law serves as a teacher, highlighting the gap between God’s holiness and human sinfulness, but it cannot bring justification. “For by the works of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20). Paul’s teaching never diminishes the law’s importance; instead, it reveals the law’s role in pointing to Christ, who completes its purpose. Paul teaches that righteousness comes through faith, not through works of the law. This does not mean the law is irrelevant, but that its purpose shifts in light of Jesus’ work. “Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law” (Romans 3:31). Through faith in Christ, believers are no longer condemned under the law but are empowered to fulfill its righteous requirements through the Holy Spirit. “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do… so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:3-4). Paul makes it clear that the law’s deeper intent-holiness and righteousness-is fulfilled in those who live by the Spirit. Paul’s teaching aligns with the prophetic vision of a new covenant, where the law is written on the hearts of God’s people (Jeremiah 31:31-33) and empowered by His Spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-27). He concludes in Romans 7:12, “So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.” Paul’s message is not about abandoning the law but about placing it in its proper context as fulfilled in the Messiah. Through Christ, believers are freed from the law’s condemnation, but they remain called to live in accordance with its righteous intent. Far from rejecting the law, Paul honors it as an integral part of God’s redemptive plan, fulfilled in Jesus and upheld by those who live by faith. This is a gross misunderstanding of Paul’s teachings and a distortion of his words. Paul’s writings clearly affirm the law as holy and righteous, while explaining its fulfillment in the Messiah. Misrepresenting his teachings not only ignores the full context of his letters but also undermines the profound connection between the Torah and the Gospel. Your claim that Paul taught believers to abandon the law is either a willful distortion or a misunderstanding of Paul’s letters. Paul never said to abandon the law-on the contrary, he upheld its holiness and explained its fulfillment in the Messiah (Romans 3:31; 7:12). His teachings reveal the true purpose of the law: to point us to Christ and enable us to live according to its righteous requirements through the Spirit (Romans 8:3-4). Both Paul and Jesus taught that the law is holy and that it should be upheld, though they emphasized that it must be understood and lived out through the lens of faith and the Spirit. They never dismissed the law but clarified its purpose, fulfillment, and proper application. 1. Jesus Taught the Fulfillment, Not Abandonment, of the Law Jesus explicitly affirmed the enduring importance of the law while revealing its ultimate fulfillment in Himself: • Matthew 5:17-19: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” • Jesus emphasized the eternal validity of the law and His role in fulfilling its deepest purposes. • Matthew 22:37-40: When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus said: ”‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” • Jesus summarized the law as rooted in love for God and others, aligning with its deeper intent. 2. Paul Affirmed the Law’s Holiness and Purpose Paul never dismissed the law but explained its role in God’s redemptive plan, particularly its inability to justify apart from faith in Christ: • Romans 3:31: “Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.” • Paul taught that faith in Christ establishes the law by fulfilling its deeper purposes through the Spirit. • Romans 7:12: “So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.” • Paul upheld the holiness of the law, while explaining that it cannot bring justification or salvation apart from Christ. • Romans 8:3-4: “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” • Through the Spirit, believers are empowered to live out the righteous requirements of the law. 3. Jesus and Paul Both Point to the Law’s Fulfillment in the Spirit Both Jesus and Paul affirmed that the Spirit enables believers to live in accordance with God’s law: • Jeremiah 31:33 (prophesying the new covenant): “I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts.” • Jesus and Paul taught that this prophecy is fulfilled through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, transforming believers’ hearts. • Ezekiel 36:26-27: “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you… And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.” Both Jesus and Paul taught the enduring validity of the law. Jesus revealed its ultimate fulfillment in Himself, while Paul clarified its role in pointing to Christ and empowering believers through the Spirit to live in alignment with its righteous requirements. Neither of them taught that the law was to be abandoned; instead, they taught that it must be upheld and fulfilled in the context of faith, grace, and the Spirit. Far from dismissing the law, their teachings confirm its holiness and its vital role in God’s redemptive plan.

@alexshatner39073 ай бұрын
I will give you a better breakdown What law did Moses deliver to the people?

Christians should call the 10 commandments the 10 suggestions because that is all they are UNLESS you continue reading to the Statutes and Ordinances in the chapter following the Commandments in Exodus. The reason is that no law is valid unless it has a penalty clause. So the question is, what happens if you steal or if you break the Shabbat or what is the difference between killing and murder. The problem is that the 10 Commandments by themselves does not tell you. You have to continue reading to where it gets unpacked in the rest of the Torah. Keep reading and accept the entire Torah as the word of HaShem.

@@maddaddy77Does salvation depend on this commandment? ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ ‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” (Mark 12:28-30). Notice that Jesus was quoting the first commandment from the book of Deuteronomy 6:4-5. Jesus confirmed not only that this commandment is still valid, but also that it is the most important of all the commandments. If Jesus thought that he himself is God, why did not he say so? Instead, he stressed that God is one. The man who questioned Jesus understood this, and what the man says next makes it clear that God is not Jesus, for he said to Jesus: “‘Well said, teacher,’ the man replied. ‘You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.’” (Mark 12:32). Jesus made this clear when another man approached Jesus to learn from him (see Mark 10:17-29). The man fell on his knees and said to Jesus: “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus replied: “Why do you call me good? No one is good - except God alone.” (Mark 10:17-18). According to Isaiah 43:11, God said: “I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.” Also God said according to Isaiah 45:21-22: “Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”

Paul isn't trying to abrogate the Torah, God forbid. He's emphasizing the relationship of Faith for Gentiles to have a relationship with God. This is the same emphasis that God always operated with All people in. God's emphasis was always on our Faith and extended by His grace and mercy. The Torah, Mishkan, Beth haMikdash were gifts from God to help us live and worship Him. We do all this by Faith. It never saved us. God saves us. That's all Paul is saying. It's the same thing God said to our Father Abraham. Earlier in Chapter 3 Paul quotes the TNK, "as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? 7Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. 8And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justifyf the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” 9So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith."

People in College Station, TX, used to put plastic over unnecessary items, for Sunday, at Gibson's, at least. I was in middle school, & didn't go out much ( except school), so I don't know if it was all the stores, or just Gibson's. It could possiblly still be that way, but the professors probably complained. My mother thought it was archaic, but I thought it was kind of sweet. I even felt a little relieved, because we'd been going through a lot of changes, and people wanting to be good was like my aunts & uncles......familiar territory. God makes the laws for us, right? I think that you have events in a wrong order; actually, Peter had a vision in which he was told that Gentiles were no longer unclean (Acts 10), Paul had an argument with Peter because Peter was preaching to Gentiles, Peter saw that Gentiles were also getting the Holy Spirit which was the confirmation, Paul understands the vision and finally preaches to Gentiles. Paul didn't teach lawlessness.

Commandment 1: The commandment against having other gods before God implies the possibility of multiple gods. Commandment 2: Creating a graven image is similar to engraving letters on a page, representing the commandments. Commandment 3: God, preceding the act of naming, has no specific name. Commandment 4: Suggesting that the Sabbath is a day of rest implies that all other days are meant for labor, which can be seen as a form of slavery. Commandment 5: This commandment references the principle outlined in Commandment 2. Commandment 6: This commandment is self-evident and does not require further explanation. Commandment 7: We are not bound by the law of marriage in a way that equates us to slaves. This commandment is also self-evident. Commandment 8: If stealing occurs, it suggests a failure in the system, as everything we need should have been provided by God. Commandment 9: The purpose of the law should be to protect our loved ones. If bearing false witness could protect a loved one, it reveals a flaw in the law. Commandment 10: We are initially given everything we need, so the system is flawed if it leads people to desire what they do not have. I get really tired of hearing people speak as if they represent God, clearly violating the 9th commandment, and they are mostly the people who justify killing, breaking the 6th. Israel is unique in its need for commandments because it symbolizes a state of disobedience to God. Modern-day proves Israel, as a symbol of human disobedience, acting as if it is above moral constraints. The law, which was designed to highlight sin and its consequences, has created a framework through which awareness of sin is achieved. However, once one has transcended the original sin that established these laws, they are no longer bound by them. This is because, beyond sin, one's mind is governed by the divine laws of God, of which I perceive to be good, which transcend the constraints of sin and offer a higher spiritual freedom with God.

In several places, the New Testament speaks of the Torah as being, ‘given by angels.’ The first reference is spoken of by Stephen in the book of Acts: “Who have received the Law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it” Acts 7:53 Later, we find another mention by Paul: “Wherefore then serves the Law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.” Galatians 3:19 A third reference is located in the book of Hebrews: “The word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward.” Hebrews 2;2 Accusations are made that this is an example of multiple New Testament texts teaching something foreign to Judaism, as the Torah itself shows that G-d gave the Torah to Moshe to give to Israel and nowhere in the rest of the Tanakh does it say otherwise. Thus we are faced with the question: Is this found in Jewish tradition or an invention? This is the ‘right’ question to ask, as there are other topics discussed in oral Torah that are nowhere found in the words of the Tanakh. For instance, the entity called “Lilith” is mentioned multiple times in Talmud, Midrash Rabbah, the Zohar and many other texts, yet not in the Tanakh. One can also argue that the very subject of ‘the messiah’ is not found anywhere in the literal text of Tanakh and is a product of aggadah, the non-binding portion of the oral Torah. An outside source referencing this concept, close to that time period, is Josephus, who mirrors the claims of the New Testament. “And for ourselves, we have learned from G-d the most excellent of our doctrines, and the most holy part of our law, by angels or ambassadors.” Antiquities of the Jews 15:163 This was written around 93CE. We have no reason to believe Josephus would ‘parrot’ a non-Jewish concept found in the writings of the New Testament, if he even had access to them. A more significant reference are the scrolls of the “Book of Jubilees” found at Qumran. Scholars date this no later than 100BCE, so it would be a certain reflection of the views within Judaism at the time of the New Testament. In this text we find specific references to the idea of angels serving as a type of intermediary between G-d and Moses at Sinai: “And He said to the angel of the presence: “Write for Moses from the beginning of creation till My sanctuary has been built among them for all eternity. And the Lord will appear to the eyes of all, and all will know that I am the God of Israel and the Father of all the children of Jacob, and King on Mount Zion for all eternity. And Zion and Jerusalem will be holy.” And the angel of the presence who went before the camp of Israel took the tables of the divisions of the years -from the time of the creation-of the law and of the testimony of the weeks, of the jubilees, according to the individual years, according to all the number of the jubilees [according to the individual years], from the day of the [new] creation †when† the heavens and the earth shall be renewed and all their creation according to the powers of the heaven, and according to all the creation of the earth, until the sanctuary of the Lord shall be made in Jerusalem on Mount Zion, and all the luminaries be renewed for healing and for peace and for blessing for all the elect of Israel, and that thus it may be from that day and unto all the days of the earth. And the angel of the presence spake to Moses according to the word of the Lord, saying: Write the complete history of the creation, how in six days the Lord God finished all His works and all that He created, and kept Sabbath on the seventh day and hallowed it for all ages, and appointed it as a sign for all His works.” Jubilees 1:27-2:1 This idea of angels being ‘involved’ in a process where the Torah speaks of ‘G-d,’ is reflected in another established Jewish text: “And G-d said to the ministering Angels who had been created on the second day of the Creation of the worlds: ‘Let us make Man.’ When Moses wrote the Torah and came to this verse, ‘Let us make Man;’ which is in the plural and implies that there is more than one Creator, he asked: ‘Sovereign of the Universe! Why do you thus furnish a pretext for heretics to maintain that there is a plurality of divinities?’ And G-d replied: ‘Write! Whoever wishes to be foolish in error will be foolish in error! Instead, let them learn from their Creator who created all that exists!‘ Yet when He came to create Man He took council with the ministering Angels.” Targum Yonatan; Midrash Bereshith Further, the Rambam says the following regarding angels and each act of G-d: “In other passages our Sages expressed it more decidedly: “God does nothing without consulting the host above” (the word familia, used in the original, is a Greek noun, and signifies “host”). On the words, “what they have already made” (Ecclessiastes ii. 12), the following remark is made in Bereshit Rabba and in Midrash Koheleth: “It is not said ‘what He has made,’ but ‘what they have made’; hence we infer that He, as it were, with His court, have agreed upon the form of each of the limbs of man before placing it in its position, as it is said, ‘He hath made thee and established thee'” (Deuteronomy 32:6). In Genesis Rabba 51:2) it is also stated, that wherever the term “and the Lord” occurred in Scripture, the Lord with His court is to be understood. … There is only this difference in the names employed - he (Aristotle) uses the term “Intelligences,” and we say instead “angels.” His theory is that the Intelligences are intermediate beings between the Prime Cause and existing things, and that they effect the motion of the spheres, on which motion the existence of all things depends. This is also the view we meet with in all parts of Scripture; every act of God is described as being performed by angels. But “angel” means “messenger”; hence every one that is entrusted with a certain mission is an angel. Even the movements of the brute creation are sometimes due to the action of an angel, when such movements serve the purpose of the Creator, who endowed it with the power of performing that movement; e.g., “God hath sent His angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths that they have not hurt me. (Daniel 6:22)” Guide for the Perplexed, part 2, chapter 6 Even where we are told ‘G-d Himself’ is involved, we still find an angel (the ‘destroyer’) involved: “The Lord will pass to smite the Egyptians, and He will see the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, and the Lord will pass over the entrance, and He will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses to smite you.” Exodus 12:23 There is also this reference, from Midrash, on the Biblical book Song of Songs: Another matter, “let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth,” Rabbi Yoḥanan said: An angel would take the utterance from before the Holy One blessed be He, each and every utterance, and circulate them before each and every Israelite and say to him: ‘Do you accept this utterance upon yourself? There are such and such laws in it, there are such and such punishments in it, there are such and such decrees in it, and so many commandments, and so many a fortiori inferences, there are such and such rewards in it.’ The Israelite would say to him: ‘Yes.’ [The angel] would then say to him: ‘Do you accept the divinity of the Holy One blessed be He?’ And he would say to him: ‘Yes, yes.’ Immediately he would kiss him on his mouth; that is what is written: “You have been shown in order to know [that the Lord, He is God]” (Deuteronomy 4:35), by means of an agent. Song of Songs Rabbah 1:2 Taking all of this Jewish tradition into account, especially texts from the time of the NT that are specific to Sinai, it is well within the bounds of sound academic standards to accept the words of the New Testament on this issues as not being foreign to “Jewish thought” on the matter.

Paul understood the deeper mysteries. He understood that the Messiah had brought a new covenant, which He had sealed with His blood. As it is written: “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people." And of course Paul understood the Messiah: "By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors" Amen!

Not a new law.
@xrendezv0usx3 ай бұрын
@hrvatskinoahid1048 not a new law, but a new covenant! And actually the Jews currently live their lives as if they are under a "new covenant" even though without them accepting the Messiah there is no excuse. For example, if you know the Law, how much of it has to do with animal sacrifices for the atonement of sin? Since you are under the old covenant, do you not obey this part of the Law? Or do you use some rabbi's teaching that isn't in the Scripture to pick and choose which part of the Law to follow, and to explain why you have forsaken all that Moses instructed you to do? As for me, all animal sacrifices have been replaced and superceded by the ultimate sacrifice of the Lamb of God, the Messiah, the "righteous servant" from the Book of Isaiah. This Messiah offered Himself as a perfect offering, and poured out His soul unto death and bore my sins and made intercession for me. As it is written: "By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors."

Paul's view in his writings to the Romans is that God's purpose for giving the Law was to convince sinners that they are sinful. After Adam ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, he knew he was naked and hid from the LORD. The commandment was holy, righteous and good but condemns those who fall short of the glory of God. You can delight in the law but not have the ability to carry it out. Because man does not have the inner power of the Spirit, he becomes a slave to disobedience and the wages of sin. Messiah came to demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit and be crucified so that believers can receive His grace, that is His Spirit to overcome the temptation to practice sin. Please read Romans 7 and then 8 for further explanation.

In Israel the religious leaders were foremost in rejecting the light. Despite being teachers “versed in the Law,” they had imposed on the people a legalistic system of rules that often contradicted God’s Law. (Luke 11:45, 46) Thus, they ‘made the word of God invalid by the tradition which they handed down.’ (Mark 7:13; Matthew 23:16, 23, 24) They were “blind guides,” hindering the light from shining through.-Matthew 15:14. On one occasion when many Israelites were wondering whether Jesus was perhaps the Christ, the alarmed Pharisees sent officers to arrest him. The officers came back empty-handed, saying: “Never has another man spoken like this.” Unmoved, the Pharisees asked the officers: “You have not been misled also, have you? Not one of the rulers or of the Pharisees has put faith in him, has he? But this crowd that does not know the Law are accursed people.” Nicodemus, a member of the Sanhedrin, protested that it was unlawful to judge a man before hearing him. Spitefully, the Pharisees turned on him and said: “You are not also out of Galilee, are you? Search and see that no prophet is to be raised up out of Galilee.”-John 7:46-52. Why did religious leaders in a nation dedicated to God act in such a way? Because they had developed a bad condition of heart. (Matthew 12:34) Their disdainful view of the common people betrayed their arrogance. Their claim that “not one of the rulers or of the Pharisees has put faith in him” made the prideful assumption that the Messiah could be genuine only if they approved of him. Moreover, they were dishonest, trying to discredit Jesus because he came from Galilee, when a simple investigation would have revealed that he was actually born in Bethlehem, the prophesied birthplace of the Messiah.-Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1. The implacable opposition of these religious leaders to the light was convincingly shown when Jesus resurrected Lazarus. To a God-fearing person, such an act would have been proof that Jesus had Jehovah’s backing. The religious leaders, however, could only see a possible threat to their privileged position. They said: “What are we to do, because this man performs many signs? If we let him alone this way, they will all put faith in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” (John 11:44, 47, 48) So they took counsel to kill both Jesus and Lazarus, perhaps hoping in this way to extinguish the light.-John 11:53, 54; 12:9, 10. Hence, those religious leaders of God’s nation were driven away from the light by arrogance, pride, intellectual dishonesty, and an overpowering self-interest. Toward the end of his ministry, Jesus exposed their guilt, saying: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for you yourselves do not go in, neither do you permit those on their way in to go in.”-Matthew 23:13. Selfishness and Pride In general, the Jewish people of the first century mirrored their religious leaders in rejecting the light because of bad heart attitudes. For example, on one occasion Jesus was invited to speak in a synagogue in Nazareth. He read and explained a passage from Isaiah, and at first, the congregation listened to him. But when he drew historical comparisons that exposed their selfishness and lack of faith, they were infuriated and tried to kill him. (Luke 4:16-30) Pride, among other bad traits, hindered them from responding properly to the light. On another occasion, Jesus miraculously fed a large crowd beside the Sea of Galilee. Witnesses of this miracle said: “This is for a certainty the prophet that was to come into the world.” (John 6:10-14) When Jesus went to another location by boat, the crowd followed him. Jesus knew, however, that the motive of many was not a love of the light. He told them: “You are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate from the loaves and were satisfied.” (John 6:26) He was soon proved correct when a number that had been following him turned back to the world. (John 6:66) A selfish, “what’s in it for me?” attitude blocked out the light. After Jesus’ death and resurrection, believing Jews continued to carry the light to others of Jewry, but few responded. Therefore, the apostle Paul and others, serving as “a light of nations,” spread the good news to other lands. (Acts 13:44-47) Many non-Jews responded, but the general reaction came to be as Paul described: “We preach Christ impaled, . . . [a message that is] to the nations foolishness.” (1 Corinthians 1:22, 23) Most non-Jews rejected the light because they were blinded by pagan superstitions or by worldly philosophies.-Acts 14:8-13; 17:32; 19:23-28.

Paul is who wrote the book of Hebrews, to try to get the Jews to come to understand and accept Christ. So how would he detest the law of Moses when he wrote that book to try to get Jews to look closer at Christ who came to fulfill the law, so they could be saved from their sins. So that statement doesn’t make any sense.

Many viewers think that as Christians, we feel that we do not have to follow the Law of Moses but, many of us sincerely do believe in the Law. When we compare Scripture with Scripture to further our understanding of the Word, we come to see the truth revealed to us. In Romans 6 : 15, Paul says "God forbid" to emphasize that continuing in sin despite grace is not acceptable. The exact quote is "what then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law but under grace? God forbid". So, I respectfully disagree, Rabbi. Romans 6 is very clear on not sinning. We Christians believe that Jesus redeemed us from a Law that is impossible for most of us to keep. When Jewish leaders increased the Law to 613, it became difficult to keep. Also, we believe that there is only one Gospel of Paul and we are not to receive any other.

Rabbi Singer, what you and your viewers must understand about Paul is that he and his entourage literally invented the NT concept of καινης διαθηκης “new covenant” in their writings. The term itself only appears in writings of Paul and his traveling companions, and once in Tanakh at Jeremiah 31:31 in its own context. Of course, dishonest Christian scribes attempted to corrupt Matthew 26:28 and Mark 14:24 by interpolating καινης “new” into the passages, but they failed miserably and their corruptions were exposed. Rather, the text in Mark properly reads, “This is my blood of the covenant that is being poured out for many” and Matthew adds, “for the forgiveness of sins.”

I was raised as a Conservative Jew in the 1960s. I learned that Paul was "mentally unstable" partly because he was not married which was highly unusual for the time and Jewish custom. I thought Paul must have been homosexual, which you are alluding to but not stating explicitly. I also learned that it was Paul not Jesus that rejected Judaism. Christianity would not have spread if it wasn't for Paul's wide-reaching missionaries. It also sounds like Paul was a self-hating Jew???

@@susanlett9632 Thank-you for sharing a bit about your journey, and I hope it's been enriching for your soul. I thought it was humorous but true when you mentioned that older church goers would faint from the idea of Paul being homosexual (very likely). One of the marked differences between the two religions is that Judaism encourages debate and questions-the tradition of the rabbis and Talmudic teachings. Conversely, Christianity is much more rigid about doctrine, especially about their concept of sin.

@@Ashgutierr I think Paul was single long before he protolyzed about Jesus. Remember, the first Christians were JEWISH since the followers of Jesus were a sect of Judaism. There was not institutionalized Church. Nevertheless, it was very abnormal for a Jewish man, Paul not to be married. Rabbi Singer stated that Paul did not like women-strong suggestion of homosexuality. One has to look deeper than Paul committed himself to a Church that did not exist yet. Christianity is really Paul's religion more than Jesus' according to many Chrisitan scholars. Yes, I am very lucky to be born Jewish; and yes, I choose NOT to be a Chrisitan!!!! You were never a Jew, so you do not understand our teachings. Christianity has changed the Hebrew Bible or as you disrespectfully refer to the "Old" Testament. Rabbi Singer is the authority on this topic. I am not sure why you are even viewing his videos by your comment.

@@Karen-dk1ec Because we have a right to hear what Jews are saying about our faith since you want unbridled support for your military campaign. You listen to some rabbi drone on about Paul being gay because he was single and that tickles yours ears just fine without questioning it. I can guarantee you you don’t listen to Christian scholars as you claim, they would never say Paul came up with his own religion. You seem perfectly satisfied telling us we know nothing of your religion and yet you have perfect clarity on ours. It’s quite ironic. There is nothing more disrespectful and unconscionable than denying your own Messiah. But that is your right to do so. But Israel will return to the true Messiah in that day, it is written.

That are actions. G-d knows we can and with determination and love we will succeed. This verse is used by Paul to refute claims made by false teachers who told Colossian Christians that they must follow specific Rituals to be SAVED! Why did you say Paul was talking about the ritual law, not don’t murder, don’t steal, not any of those things …”? But he is actually talking about the Ten Commandments because he talks about our covetousness and he would not have known what covetousness was apart from the law but that knowledge brought all forms of covetousness, so he is talking about moral laws found in the 10 commandments, not simply ritual law. Btw, I am a Christian, but I love the Jews and like to hear the Jewish perspective on things. I’m not trying to argue with you, but I heard you say that, and it caught my attention because I’m very familiar with Romans 7 and Paul’s struggle with being moral vs not always able to do right. “The things I wanna do, I don’t do. The things I don’t want to do, those are the things I end up doing” type of things - very relatable, and imho, points to mankind’s need for an ultimate sacrifice for our sin found in the Savior: “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” - John the Baptist referring to Jesus Christ.

Yesss, Amen!!! I was Christian my whole life until God started showing me that Christians follow Paul instead of Jesus. Then I really started seeing that this was a whole new religion with a whole new God that doesn't exist in Jewish Scripture. Even the God of Jesus was filled wrath against sin, who judged by the sword. Christians don't know that God and they don't even pray to Him they pray to "Our Lord Jesus Christ" it's basically a religion that tacos on a man's opinion to the Word of God, says that the Word of God is All Wrong, and only this new idea is right. Just like Mormonism, and I am SO GLAD you brought that up!
