Absolutely ridiculous that he's not in. The guy's part of the triple gold club, has better stats than a lot of guys already in the hall, and paved the way for Russian players to leave the Soviet Union. My best guess is that a few guys on the selection committee have an outstanding grudge from their playing days

@@formulahank1250 the fact that Guy Carbenou is in the hall of fame and Mogilny isn’t is baffling. Mogilny was a far more productive player than Guy or half the players who’s prime was in the 90’s and are in the hall of fame. Hopefully one day Mogilny’s gets the credit he deserves and gets inducted into the hall of fame.

Mogilny never played a full season in his career but still managed nearly 500 goals and over 1,000 points. Should be HoF material. Who can also forget that awesome 76 goal season in '93 (led the league). He was the quiet superstar for several years.
@michaelcoletta4547

He actually tied (a rookie!) Teemu Selanne for 76 goals, the same year Mogilny played alongside a healthy Pat LaFontaine (who had said Mogilny was the best player he ever played with) and made absolute magic together. Mogilny had the tiebreaker over Selanne, however, as he'd scored his 76 goals that year IN 77 GAMES... Selanne totaled 76 in 82 or 83 games. Rocket Richard trophy wasn't a thing yet.

Mogilny had a stretch of games that season where he scored 50 goals in 38 games. The only player to ever beat that was Gretzky who did it twice, once in 34 games and once in 35.

For all the great things Pat Quinn did as President and GM of the Canucks, some of his biggest blunders included screwing up the Gretzky signing, letting Igor Larionov go for nothing, driving his superstar, Pavel Bure, crazy...and not giving Cliff Running, his number 1 centre and consistent 65-85 point man, a measly $1 million. That seems unfathomable now in 2022, and even by salary standards of the day is still unfathomable. Your number 1 centre isn't worth a million bucks? Obviously, Linden was a centre and great face-off guy, but he also played right wing. No wonder Quinn got canned. He built a contender that was already on the way down because of questionable decisions in 1994 yet still made an improbable run and took the Rangers to 7 games, and then proceeded to get early dementia, backing himself into a corner after badly botching the Gretzky negotiations and pressuring himself to sign an aging, banged up, declining Mark Messier to a huge contract. Is it any wonder the team went downhill after that? Oh yeah, and besides Trevor, Pavel and Matthias, the guy couldn't draft to save his own life. He was so close to building what could have been a consistent contender until the millennium, but he made some really bad decisions.

Epic comment but respectfully disagree. Pat Quinn is honoured here (Vancouver/Burnaby) every year with a prosperous Pat Quinn tourney and the stories are beyond inspirational and we love everything he did for hockey. And also, you are not even mentioning the most important part of the downhill slide for the 94 Canucks but why even dwell on it... just enjoy what that team was and the great things that came out of it for the Canucks and the city. Canucks 94 most exciting team ever!

Mogilny, Bure, Fedordov line was sweet in NHL 96. I remember when Mogilny joined the Canucks and Pavel Bure gave up his number 10 to Esa Tikanen and got number 96 instead. About 10 games into the season Bure got a bad knee injury and was out the rest of that year and most of the next. He should have never given up his number, it was bad luck. The real shame is we never got to see Bure play with Mogilny for very long because Bure got traded to the Panthers as soon as he was healthy again. That kind of luck right there is why Vancouver hasn't won a cup. Maybe someday 🥺😂 Canuck's fans. Maybe someday. Yeah, and maybe Mogilny will get in the Hall of Fame too. 😭
