There isn’t a necessity for a “peak” Russ. The Steelers had incredibly low QB output the past couple seasons. Just a bunch of dink and dunk, 160 yard games with very few td’s. Even the latest version of Russ is a major upgrade. We now have an accurate passer who can get all weapons involved across the field, throw a great deep ball and be very effective in play action. Even at this stage in his career he is much more versatile and capable than Kenny or Trubisky or Rudolph. He’s still a player who can thrive if you give him some weapons to work with. He brings SO much more to the table

Not just does Fields play a similar style to Russ, he was also rumored as a great fit for Arthur Smith's offense when he was still presumed to stay with Atlanta but it was starting to become clear that the Bears would move on from Fields. This feels like an inevitability now and the cards fell right into place too where now the Steelers have to spend essentially nothing to obtain Fields because there is literally not market for him anymore as a starter. Crazy stuff.

He’s in his prime with one year left on his very reasonable deal. There is no veteran available for the money he makes who is nearly as good as he is. The Steelers now have no number one receiver, as Pickens only runs 3 routes well and will now be subject to double teams. But yea, I guess I could have looked up one stat and then tried to sound smart. But that would have been insane.

He was a busted draft pick made evident in his first and second years. Did anyone actually have faith in Pickett being the Steelers franchise QB? I know that I never did. Not even for one day since they wasted a first round pick on him. Sure, he went 14-10, but that was largely in part to a defense that was holding teams to only a few scores. Of Kenny’s 20+ starts, they only scored over 20 a couple times. I don’t recall a single game where he had any flash of excellence. Just a bunch of mediocre performances. Mike Prisuta said it best on WDVE. “Pickett was given the keys to the sports car 24 times, and never made it out of the driveway”

My question isn't why did the Steelers trade Kenny. It was obvious he was done when even after healthy they'd rather go with the "hot hand" mason Rudolph for a playoff run. From that moment Kenny was done as starter for the Steelers. My question is why would the eagles trade for Kenny. He's worse than most backups you could get off the street.
