Why Did This HUGE Lightening Crackle Split My Frame!??

Whilst trying to get a lightening crackle in this storm one finally came and with the actual lighting of the sky not a moment after or before the flash bent light in my camera to the point only have of the video was “lit” whilst the top half was still dark. Very interesting discovery and hopefully this question I have can be answered.
