He was a pioneer producer-director of Indian cinema, best known for directing the social epic Mother India (1957), which won the Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director, two National Film Awards, and was a nominee for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.[3] He set up his production company - Mehboob Productions, and later a film studio - Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai in 1954.[4][5][6] He also created the dacoit film genre with Aurat (1940) and Mother India, and is also known for other blockbusters including the romantic drama Andaz (1949), the swashbuckling musical Aan (1951), and the melodrama Amar (1954).

Janab Mehboob Khan had two wives, one from village name Billimora and second wife was Sardar Akhtar she was film actress When Meboob was working as hoarse she fixing in Bilimora One Railway Guard took him for labour job in Kardar film studios Where he made his life with his own talent and become the film director after working in the film. With his first wife he had one son two daughters Second wife Sardar Akhtar didn't have and children there for they took adoption of one child. Who worked in his film name Son Of India
