I just finished the whole MMI playlist. It was incredibly helpful. Thanks for putting together such fantastic resources for students like me. Keep up the good work!

One pay 5-10 times what the others pay. It's like asking why did you become a superintendent and not a teaching assistant. Say whatever you want but you picked medicine because it is quite literally the highest paid position someone can get sheerly through education (and it doesn't vary significantly in pay unlike lawyers and engineers).

Doctors earn around 200-300k, but nurse practitioners earn around 110-130k. Np’s in private practice can earn 150k+ as well. Not bad for np’s considering the amount of debt someone would go through. I was considering going to bond medicine, but saw that it costs 400k. Parents were happy to pay for it, but I said fuck it and went into nursing. Hopefully I don’t regret it

I currently have a chemical engineering degree, i however realised i want to be a doctor, as i did some humanitarian work in engineering and realised how much i love interacting with the people I'm problem solving for. I'm scared ill be asked why I didn't just pursue more of humanitarian work in engineering - in other words i dont know how to convey my passion for medicine. I'm not going to be sitting the gamsat for a while though, as i need to do another bachelor (currently doing biomed) to boost my gpa as well as get certain pre req subjects.

Perhaps discuss the limitations of the human contact even within the humanitarian work, and it led to you looking for another career that could satisfy your deep needs for personal interaction.

Hello, Im a Year 12 student trying to apply for med at unsw and i have absolutely no work experience or leadership qualities whatsoever and i have no idea how to answer these questions that the application asks for and make it seem like i really want to do med (1. In 30 words or less, tell us who you are, 2.Describe the most important thing you have done in the past two years. Why was it so important?, 3.Outline some experiences that you would like to have in the next 10 years, 4.Apart from your parents or guardians, identify the person who contributed the most to your success in life to date. In what way did they contribute?, 5.What makes you an outstanding candidate for our Medicine Program?, 6.Concluding statement (optional)). I was wondering if you could help me out !

Hey TMM, could you also mention that you have been influenced by doctors your whole life over any allied health field. i know its more personal but is that ok or should you be more broad? thank you so much.

Yeah of course, personal is best.

My issue is that I am a nurse myself. Therefore, I would assume that they would ask why not stay as a nurse? My initial intuition brings me about discussing how I have limitations in terms of practice and how to always be vigilant with the care provided. Yet, I still feel that they will be hammering me more with questions regarding being a Nurse. Any thoughts?
