It’s part of the legal process whether the inmate is suicidal or not because he is a High profile case and there are procedures for this. Trust me the lawyers and the ACLU as well as outside auditing agencies check this. It is set up that way across all jails in the U.S. These detainees on SW are under constant observation 24/7 via camera and staff physically monitoring the detainee in specially approved cells. Most jails have detainees wear a green shroud known as the turtle suit and are given a suicide loaf or finger food. While on SW, Mental Health providers do daily assessments and document. For better or worse the system is set up this way. All providers involved as well as security need to be on their A game when documenting. And no I am not an attorney nor an officer.
