A couple of years ago used a similar technique to fix a 1971 German Classic VW Beetle windshield washer valve. I used an inner bike tube to make the gasket and valve. I was able to purchase a new one eventually but didn't install it as the one I fixed works perfectly. Bike tubes can be used to make a number of things, gaskets, fix valves repair of water pipes leaks etc. In the VW case, there is a needle that goes through a diagram (a piece of bike tube I used) and the needle is what opens and closes the pin hole the pressurized water goes through. The water or windshield washer is pressurized by the air of the spare tire. How much air can get out of the tire or the pressure is protected by a valve in the washer tank. It works like a charm. Great video, thanks!

@@tipsunknow Thank you so much! Your video also reminded me of a water valve I had to fix in a hurry as the valve is not available at local stores (at least not one exactly). The valve looks similar to the one in your video but the shaft is made of nylon. The little tab that connects to the the ball was worn out and the ball would not turn at all. I used coin sized piece of copper to make a small rectangular piece. I used heat to melt the end of the shaft and insert the metal tab and sanded it smooth. The tab connected to the ball's groove without any play and it seemed very strong. It has been working and used daily for over a year now. Sometimes parts may not be readily available. We maybe in the middle of a road or in countries where the option of buying a new one is not possible. The ability of using what you have to solve a problem can be a blessing. Also, why do we do it? Because we like it. 😁. Saludos amigo 🙏

Couple things, I recommend to not use a brass male threaded into plastic, it could crack the pipe and then your fix grows into a huge problem, especially since that does not look like sch 80 CPVC. 2nd, I like that you're teaching how to make valve repairs, that's cool. I'd recommend having a valve repair kit, it has the parts you need and the proper material for your gaskets. You don't want to accidentally contaminate your water supply through leeching from the wrong type of material. Just some observations.

I'm thinking the same thing. It's great that he's doing valve repair videos but there is a kit out there that is for this very specific problem. I'm confused because I don't understand how it took him years to figure this out when the kit is already out there.

@Rick Ww. 'This problem' only needs to arise once for you to be up shit creek without a paddle. You don't have much knowledge of or experience in remote locations, do you?! Especially locations where water is more precious than gold and getting it to the right location, at the right time without wasting 1 drop is something your life depends on. While I drive the 1000+ km round trip to get a replacement, how many head of stock will suffer for lack of water if I turn it off completely for the duration or how much precious water will be lost if I let it continue to flow with a serious leak, even after the float-valve at the other end shuts it off?! I'm betting you're just another privileged, myopic, puerile insular American who's never ventured beyond their own 'back yard', but arrogantly believes and acts as if they know everything about everything.

Thank you very much for your advice. It's true that replacing with a new one will always be the best solution, but I still hope you won't hate what I do. I hope I can give you a new perspective on its structure. I wish you a good day!

Может быть, способ ремонта и хорош (не проверял), но это вообще-то новый вентиль. А старый не так просто разобрать - хоть феном его нагревай, хоть вдшкой поливай. Вот где настоящая проблема, я думаю. Но за совет спасибо.
