I think you nailed it. I never thought about it that way, but you're absolutely right. If he saw Lori or Carl it would have convinced him to go "towards the light" and these 3 were pushing him to keep fighting. Well said!!

There’s only one real answer to this question if Carl and Laurie were both there and even probably Glenn, it would’ve been the death of Rick Grimes, not a disappearance

Jeffrey de Munn as Dale wanted to go cause Frank Darabont get fired , than he got fired too. Sarah Wayne Callies dont got fired. Just Dale and Carl....Chandler Riggs....

If Carl would've came back, he would've told his dad to stay and fight. Rick would've talked to Carl, telling him how proud he was of him😢 and Carl would've told his dad to go back to Michonne and Judith who are waiting for him.

My guess is because Sarah & Chandler were two of the only actors who genuinely got fired from the show. While Jon Bernthal & the others were naturally written off & weren’t fired.

@@brianachim2670 Based on the “Real Ones” Podcast with Jon Bernthal, the episode featuring Sarah for the first time, Sarah implied that her defiance when it came to Frank Darabont being dropped, was why she got written off early.

Really Interesting! I did wonder that but figured they couldn't get actors back to do it. If rumors are true both actors left show on not good terms. I really like that take and seems very plausible! Thanks for sharing that!!

Neither left on great terms - Sarah was mad about Frank getting fired and tried to cause an actor strike to bring him back...but died when she should have (as in the comics) - Chandler of course, like us, was blindsided by him being written out...but both are still in good standing, Sarah was brought in and did a one line voice over for S9E5, and Chandler was a Hilltop background extra in the final season.

@@TWDExplained I knew about Chandler being an extra but I haven't been able to find him. Now I don't remember Sarah's Voice over and I am not remembering which episode that is.

Sarah said a line "What is your wound" (as others did also) - it was Rick's final episode when he was hallucinating. So I guess she was there in a way.

I'm like okay find no Lori and Carl but why he hallucinate Sasha in the entire time she was around I can't recall any major scenes of them together. Nothing against Sasha but of all the cast to appear, why not No Glenn, Dale? Carl would've been great, too!

true, I asked the same when it aired. Kang did say she tried to get Glenn and if she could have, and physically on screen (some actors only contributed voice, - Lori, Morgan, Beth & Abe), I bet he would have been in Sasha's place?? Carl could have said something positive like "You gotta wake up and live...for Judith" ??

It's not just that he should have hallucinated at some point Lori and Carl, maybe in the ones who live should have been a GREAT opportunity or they are saving him for the future what I think it's not possible at this point in this chaotic franchise.
