More people voted against Labour than for them, and yet they got a majority in parliament. The electorate literally moved to the right (basically a lot of people moved from Conservative to Reform) and as a result Parliament moved to the left. What a messed up election.

Agreed. Actually they give away the knighthoods far far too easily.. He is not a sir on any level. He is not of the standard of person who should ever get one. His deluded and moronic standards do not equate with the role. Remember Savile? The farmers? The winter fuel payment? Would have been nice if those in charge actually paid pensioners enough so there was no need for a winter fuel payment but that won't happen as they are sure to wipe out any private pension that anyone has paid for. And then there is inheritance tax and actually all tax to be honest.

The decisive factor was an electoral system that completely failed democracy. How can it be right that 23,500 votes gets 1 Labour MP and 800,000 votes gets 1 Reform MP? Inequality because of the electoral system which has created a gross inequality for the vast majority. 33.7% of the vote cannot equal 66.3% of the seats in parliament. Of course the petition wouldn't lead for a new general election, that isn't how it works. But then the petition doesn't demand it, it says the petitioner would like one. It is a protest, and one which forces a response from the Government. The more signatures it gets, the more it draws attention to how unpopular they are this early in their term.
