While I would never cut whiskers it has become plain over the years that like any other hair, they fall out. Not usually more than one or two at a time but you can tell a whisker by the thickness and stiffness of the hair. 🐈

My fiancee and I are newer cat owners. We took in 3 our of 4 kittens from the same litter and next week, we have a vet appointment for the 4th kitten to get it's first round of shots. Vets told us to wait a week after getting her her shots before bringing her around our other 3 cats and 2 dogs. My fiancee also wants to get a another pug so by this time next year, we'll have 4 cats and 3 pugs......

The question was badly formulated because if you ask "Can you cut a cat's whiskers?" The answer is yes, they're not hard enough to stand a scissor or knife and the attachment is also not strong enough to withheld an idiot pulling them with all their might. The real question is "Should you?" And obviously the answer is no, not only you would be causing pain to the innocent creature but they would have difficulty in their day to day life even to the point of life threatening if they are cats that go outside or tend to walk in very narrow high places.

*sigh* They have whiskers for the same main reason that all mammals have whiskers....wind direction. I mean why else would a moose of all things have whiskers? Prey animals as well as predators need to know where that smell (whatever it is) is coming from. I'm sure all those other reasons are legit but the main reason is wind direction.
