It really struggles with opening big assemblys and Steps, and it also has huge performance issues while working with big assemblys. Thats why we are pushing to make the change to Catiain our department. But apart from that, its most intuitive program I used so far. So in short, for small to medium assemblys SW is the tool to use imho. If it gets complex, use something more powerful.

Why do companies choose SOLIDWORKS? Because it's cheaper than any other usable cad system, and who makes the decision about software purchase is not a competent manager who probably not an everyday user. Easy to use? Lol, just ask about an ordinary engineer, what's his opinion about the "sw's powerful" capabilities, when he is waiting to sw to open a massive assembly or just opening a bloody step file.

What's cheaper but apparently not now oh, the last time I checked Autodesk Inventor is actually cheaper which was very surprising, not only that it doesn't act like a virus on your computer and it's not a headache do the simplest task of creating and robbing Liars it doesn't fight you like SolidWorks does, as a friend told me SolidWorks is like trying to ride a bike that someone has a welded training wheels on you can never take them off, personally I see it is a car that you can't even pull out of the driveway without somebody else waiting on the break.

Fusion360 was half decent 3 or 4 years ago but since then they have systematically trashed it.
