Why did Le Male and La Nuit De L'homme get reformulated severely? Do you agree with these reasons?

It’s all about the money cheaper production cost bigger profit margins. If they were true about the regulations then we would see a drop on the prices too or the performance would be still good with supplemented raw materials🤷🏾‍♂️

Ysl Y edp seems to be reformulated, there is no way that it last 10+ hours. Buy the way people on fragantica are claiming that the 200ml version is watered down. I would like to see comparaison between 2018 and 2021 batches, and sizes

Hardly ever happens dont you think? Usually reformulations are worse than the original.

@@Master2594212 His point is that when they release say a EDP they reformulate the EDT to have less performance then it did before the EDP existed as to make the EDP more desirable.

I imagine the fragrance companies have lost millions because of this. Besides, who wants to pay a lot of money for scented water?

Bro to my nose le male smells like very synthetic lavender with heavy dose of mint and I can’t get any vanilla out of it. I blind bought it and i just cannot stand its scent. I am guessing I don’t like lavender fragrance or did you also notice it’s scent profile changing after reformulation or should it be smelling like this only?
@blackknightdl

It’s a vanilla based scent, are you sure yours is authentic ?

Hmmmmmm, interesting Deepak. I get almost nil of those notes you mentioned. The mid 1990's bottle ( which I still have in my collection ) have notes of mint and lavender , but main notes are vanilla , spices, it's a warm fragrance , fougere. My newest LeMale is very much different then the OG🤷‍♂️

Thanks for replying guys. Yeah i purchased my bottle from a trusted seller and it is authentic. Spero even when i watched KZbin videos and checked fragrantica everyone was saying how wonderful vanilla and warm spices based fragrance it is but i got a different story out of it. Maybe it is really hot here right now (40 degree C) which is messing up with the juice or maybe shipping caused some imbalances. Should i try to refrigerate it once and then check? What do you say? I am still planning to keep the bottle to test it more in winters as well.

My bottle is older so maybe the scent changed. A similar fragrance that is more refine and of higher quality is one called Reflection Man by amouage

@@deepakvashistha623 Absolutely try this. I have done this many times in the last 30 years of collecting. Will give a chance for the oils to settle down. Or, keep in mind, what your nose perceives as scent notes, mine does not. My nose is a little bit more trained to pick out key notes. This is a 30 plus year journey, so give it time. And 300 bottles later 😁😁👍

yes I think coming up with edp version is just marketing strategy for them to have a reason for a higher price, it's all BS but still can't resist giving in to their tricks

Exactly! Thats why it doesnt matter if its an EDT or a EDP now. They ban, or get strict on certain ingredients/molecules

Buy Middle Eastern made fragrance. They most are not governed by IFRA. They are power house with 7 to 12 hours performance and 2 to 3 hours projection and sillage.

@awolf913

Let’s say it was because of IFRA regulations. If that’s the case then fair enough but then reduce the price because we are getting an inferior product in return. If however the fragrance companies find alternative ingredients to make it smell as before or better then the high price tag is worth it.

Great points Omar. May I also add, and thank, the IFRA for these new , stringent regulations that are coming more into effect. Its unreal the changes that I have seen the 30 + years in my fragrance journey. It's about sustainable products , environmentally responsible harvested materials , the carbon foot print the bottle/container/ wrapping/ box can effect the environment when its disposed. List is endless. But it's sad that post reformulation, the scent is usually weaker, poorer longevity, and , in some cases, the DNA of the OG is almost next to nil { me thinks the new Dior compared to the older version 》》 added Iso E Super to the 2020 version...}. 😡

The saving money by "watering down" is a dumb argument. A fragrance costs about 2 dollars in pure ingredients, this goes for most designer fragrances. Exceptions being oud, saffron etc. But even fragrances with those ingredients have plenty and I mean plenty of margin. The regulation is probably the most probable answer.

If regulation is the main issue i think they can be crystal clear with the reason and the customers would probably understand. But i havent heard official announcements from the brands why they reformulated. I mean everybody knows its been changed but the brands never comments about it. Or at least not deliberately

I need some help/advice from you guys here I'm in the need of a new spring/summer fragrance around £60~ (I'm a male) I've had some fragrances in the past but these have been purchased for me for special occasions. Nothing bad; Prada, Gucci, DG, Bulgari, Jo Malone etc. But I'm doing my own research/testing to purchase myself....and TBH the fragrances you get in most department stores/fragrance counters are just..meh. Nothing really stands out. I've tried the 'Channel Homme Sport' and that was nothing special. Same with the Invictus. I've smelt quite a few but feel like I'm getting nowhere. How do you choose 'the one'. I'm London based so if anyone can recommend any specific stores? I've been to John Lewis and Fenwicks so far. Thanks!!

Any department store that is good for trying out is ideal, selfridges has the widest range including niche, for something to stand out I would recommend Terre Dheremes EDT for designer and Xerjoff Uden for Niche. I also recommend you check our 'Top Everyday/Versatile Fragrances Video'
