Oh man, do I know that reason well! For awhile, though, I couldn't even do that because the antiperspirant I was using would bleed through and make the pits of the shirt awkwardly white! Also, in high school, dandruff was almost as awkward a problem for me. But yes, I can sweat through antiperspirants.

I can be cold and shivering and still sweating in the armpit region. It sucks. It even influences the clothes that I buy/wear. Whenever I have to wear bright colors, I spend the whole time paranoid that my sweat is showing through (it usually does), which I’m sure isn’t helping to sweating situation either. Plus, I swear antiperspirants make me sweat even more (on days where I delay putting it on, I don’t sweat nearly as much - it’s like my body wants to clear the clogged glands by flushing it out with even more sweat). It never stinks though, so at least there’s a silver lining.

Savannah there are these little pads you can get to hook under your armpits to absorb the sweat and it not show on your clothes that might help you, actors in theatre use them all the time for the stage and to keep their clothes cleaner when they have to wear the same ones every night! I'm the exact same it's horrible.

I had the same problem and tried a bunch of different things that didn't work, until I discovered iontophoresis. I first bought a set from Drionic, but eventually reverse-engineered my own (cheaper and more comfortable). That was many years ago and it worked perfectly. There are now KZbin videos on how to build your own.

As a girl with a sweat problem, I was so scared to see a doctor about it. I'm so glad I did though, as I now have botox injections under my arms every 6 months, and it's literally changed my life. I can now wear whatever colours I want without worrying about it. The injections are VERY painful, as I'm sure you can imagine, being stabbed 15-20 times with a needle in each armpit.. But it's been so worth it. I'm so glad you guys did a video about this, as people who sweat too much are often ridiculed for it, but it's a genuine condition and people need to understand this. It's not just 'bad hygiene', which I've heard way too much.

For those who have frequent excessive sweating on your hands, feet, and underarms, you might want to check with a doctor to see if there's a dysautonomic cause. In my case, I experience the aforementioned symptoms as well as sudden blood pressure spikes or valleys, tachycardia, dizziness, vomiting, blacking out, and fainting. I received two tests--a powder sweat test on the hands and a tilt table test--and found I had a genetic disorder called Neurocardiogenic Syncope. When I was diagnosed, no one in the U.S. had studies on it, and it was a fairly newly discovered disorder. It's still not as well known, but what research is now conducted by the Mayo Clinic shows that this is very common, but due to it affecting mainly women and the old trope that women faint in all stressful events, people think it's normal and harmless until it's too late! There are many dysautonomias aside from NCS, and I encourage everyone to talk to their doctor if they experience two or more of the listed symptoms for years at a time.

*OH MY GOD, IS THIS ABSOLUTELY ME!* Today, just playing pool and ping pong, I was sweating! I've always been the sweatiest one, it's just something about me. Some think at first that it's just because I'm overweight, but as a kid, I was one of the skinniest, and I can tell you, it was the same. Plus, I sweat more sometimes just walking for a long time than a seriously overweight person does doing stairs! It also doesn't help that I love the cold so much. My ideal room temperature is like 50 F. 45-60 (8-15 C) is perfect for me, possibly as a reaction to how I tend to sweat. I also don't hate heat, but only dry. Humidity is what kills me, I sweat like 3 times as much then!

I use antiperspirants sometimes, but the problem is you can't rub those on your face. And dear Christ, is my face a problem. ... sweating, I mean. My hair is terrible and thinning, but forehead sweat only makes it more noticeable!

I've had a lot of luck with iontophoresis. Years ago I bought a set of Drionic underarm devices, which worked. After their proprietary ($$$) batteries died (which were just 9v in a unique shape), I decided to make my own. I also made them more comfortable to wear. They worked great! Now there are KZbin videos on how to build your own using cheap common parts. There's debate on why it works. A popular theory is that ionized water molecules plug your pores like the alluminum in antiperspirants do. I'm in the camp that thinks the process just numbs the nerves that activate the sweating. Each session (15min/day over 3 days) keeps me dry 2-3 weeks, and then when I notice the sweat start to return, I repeat. This has been working for over a decade.

Once again, you answered a question I've had all my life but never bothered to look up. Thanks for the clear/concise video. I have a mild form of this. I sweat more than my friends, and I've always assumed my fast heart rate (about 90 at rest) had something to do with it. It sucks when my friends and I go bowling and I am somewhat drenched on my shirt, but they are fairly dry. Happened when I was a teenager and young adult male weighing 138 lbs for 8 straight years, and even though I'm significantly heavier, I sweat the same amount. Thanks genes

I hate my hyperhidrosis.. I used to wear two sweaters to school as well as a t-shirt to try and cover it and it would all be soaked through by the end of the day. Going to the bathroom every half hour to try and dry my sopping armpits. Drysole (one of those dab on sweat blockers) did nothing for me. Finally after dealing with it for soooo long, I found out a clinic near me does botox for that exact purpose! Best decision I ever made. I can wear whatever i want without the fear of being soaked in sweat within minutes

@@sangwoosgurl2015 I usually get it done once a year, but depending on the person, it could have to be done every 8 months or can last longer than a year. I recommend researching it, talking to your doctor about it/getting a prescription, finding a reputable skin clinic, and remember that not all insurances cover this type of treatment (and botox can be expensive even with a prescription!) You'll still sweat if you're doing strenuous activity, in hot weather, and other activities that cause people to sweat more than normal. Just not every second of the day for no reason lol:)

Twin sister bigger then me (servel kids)hardy broke out sweat while i am too easy! I realised on this, thinking back it def sweat glands tied to how much as it high general anxiety disorder so constantly sweat dripping. cleaning client houses. I noticed at odd times to clients chat, sudden my back and head break out sweat *nerves*other time dry i improve much. anyway whole thing down to sweat glands overacting! And def fungus candida somehow tied to it. huge fear of everybody was part of it! I forced myself get jobs cleanings by flyers only way overcome and get peace by walking through it. soon sweat glands come down more milder now. Some people simple do not realise own fears stress so went through unnecessary fears to whys. At breakdown I was drended in sweats. at nights jerk awake not normal! on sterion etc. Drink plenty water. I make sure i drink a glass before out to replace would be sweats out cleaning on clock! Before breakdown. I hardy sweat at all!

My family has hyperhidrosis. My sister had some nerve bundle clamped(?) in her armpits which reduced her hand sweating down to an almost normal level. My other sister gets botox injections. I could also use the injections, but I only sweat excessively from the top of my head, so I'm always dripping sweat off of my face. Which really sucks. In my case, though, I only start sweating excessively once I start sweating. I don't sweat all the time. I just need to try to stay cool. If I do start sweating, it's damn hard to stop. I usually take ice cold showers. That really sucks ass, but it's all that helps. Gotta drench my head in cold cold cold water for 5 minutes at a time. My dad just DGAF and walks around all swampy all the time.
@Lothar445

My dad didn't care about it either, but I remember both him and my brother always buying new socks since they would kind of 'burn' a pair of socks each time they wore them. I remember it like it was yesterday, my brother would come home from work and take his shoes off resulting in a literal cloud of smoke coming from the inside of his shoes, while it did stink like hell it was still kind of cool. I remember joking about it as a kid and calling my older brother Surt, cause just like the fire giant from Norse myths he was also tall as hell and his clothes kept burning up no matter the season. Sadly, those jokes got less funny as I started growing up and eventually reached puberty... Luckily I don't ruin my clothes every other week like my brother used to do, but it still gets annoying from time to time. The only good thing about hyperhidrosis is the body alterations I get through the year. I can get like 30 kilograms during fall and winter only to then lose it in late spring and summer just by walking around and doing regular everyday tasks. And if I'm working somewhere where any normal person would sweat, like in the physical labor 'department' then I can even get skinnier than I was the previous year through the magic of sweating haha.

Alfred Gonzalez You are also not 100% correct: it doesn't matter if it's cholesterol, saturated OR unsaturated fatty acids and triglycerids. That doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what, it's just the overall amount that matters and thus drives your chylomicron or HDL level up and thus your risk of a stroke or heart attack. But that has been known for ages. So making a video about it is like making a video about: "smoking is dangerous". Yes it is, but everybody knows.
@alfredogonzalez8735
@alfredogonzalez8735 6 жыл бұрын
Frank Schneider no it actually does matter smh.. dietary poly and mono unsaturated fatty acids have typically been shown to reduce total and LDL cholesterol while dietary saturated fat and cholesterol has been shown to significantly raise your total and ldl serum cholesterol which is the only necessary risk factor for atherosclerosis which is our leading killer... the reason I want them to do a video is because people are saturated fat and cholesterol deniers and they don’t want to admit that meat, dairy, and eggs are not healthy and are responsible for our heart disease rates

You should have talked about night sweats and about red flags for when they are caused by dangerous conditions such as cancer. Haemathologic cancers are likely to produce night sweats and are some of the most common cancers found in the demographic group that watches this channel. Raising awareness of it may have helped someone notice they needed to seek medical atention for something they otherwise would have postponed until it was too late

It's also a common symptom of hypoglycemia. Horribly the body may then overreact inducing high blood sugar, so that when tested, people may not realize they ever went too low. That could cause diabetics to over-medicate before bedtime.

the rougemillenial well I've always run hot, even when I was skinny. I'm a big guy (6'3") and I don't really feel the cold that much, to the extent that I'll wear shorts in snow or if it isn't too windy. All I need is a hat and a pair of gloves and I'll stay comfortably warm at anything above -10°c. When I was 12 I went to new jersey to visit my dad for christmas around 2001, and it was -30°c with windchill. Two feet of snow fell in one night, and we went for the obligatory christmas walk! Well my brother, two years older than me, starts shivering, so I give him my coat. Five minutes later and his lips are turning blue, so I give him my fleece too! So he's wearing a tshirt, two fleece jackets, and two coats and I'm swanning along in jeans and a tshirt feeling happy to be out in the snow. I don't think I have hyperhidrosis exactly, I just think that any kind of exertion makes me create a huge amount of heat and my body can't cool down easily maybe...

Great video! I'm glad you're getting that stuff out here for people to see. I love when you make content like this, there are probably so many people out there who didn't know there was treatment for this. I'm positive this will help at least one person get the treatment they need just by spreading awareness. :) I had excessive sweating as a side effect of one of my medications, and it was really a pain. I was fine during the day, but when I slept I would wake up with my sheets totally soaked through. I stank every morning and had to wash my sheets all the time. It was awful! It wasn't listed on the "official" side effects of my medication, but my doctor said it's happened occasionally in the past. If you take SNRIs and get sweaty, that might be the cause! I eventually switched to a different class of antidepressants and it's completely stopped.

If it's the latter case, I'd talk to a doctor. It doesn't take much to make you miserable if the humidity is high since sweating doesn't do much to cool you down when the humidity is 80%+.

I've been in FL during summer and it was hot but owww boy, U know nothing John Snow! Try Brazil brotha! In my Southeast city São Paulo (the biggest in country, nope, not Rio), there is a caos. 34C (93) with Relative Humidity of 80% yearly gives u the feeling of swimming into the air, ok there are worst places like in the amazon, but the main point is that the city is so huge (4th biggest metropolis in the world by population with 31.5mi) that we don't get much fresh and cold air (an it is 120km from the sea). So, when u go outside to get some fresh air u end up going back inside because a bus went by coughing black hot smoke to your face. hahahaha Ok, several other cities are warmer and/or more humid (even for longer periods of time) but this combination of all is ridiculous and suffocating. I haven't been on a place like my hometown ever.

I am fully convinced that there is a form of anticipation the body goes through when it comes to sweat. I notice when I’m in the full summer heat of a Florida day working, and I do this for several days in a row, I’ll start sweating like it’s 103 out after a little bit of exertion in temperature controlled environments. I think this is because the body can’t tell when a bit of extra activity leading to heat build up is due to just existing in an extreme heat environment at minimal exertion or if you are working muscles in a cool environment. This kind of heat acclimation sweat stops after a week or two after being under climate control.
