I am always impressed by how Slater explains things in layman's terms smoothly and his confidence in how he says it. And as a sophomore college student taking CE, I get to grasp some new ideas from him that I didn't get to learn from my university (though I am still studying) about construction and how to know which contractors should be trusted and who should not.

This is what is all about when two people respect each other, listen to each other and point 'problems' to each other, without getting offended when 'mistakes' are made or issues come up. NOONE can be 100%right all the time and things can always be improved after you have finished a project, that you thought it was perfect. A drawing or a 'picture' can look perfect but in the real world while living in the house, is what makes you see what works and what does not. This was a very good video, for all to learn how things work in real life, no matter how knowledgable and educated one is. You guys seem perfect together.

As an aspiring civil engineer, sobrang sarap pakinggan ng mga gantong video ni slater where dinidiscuss niya mga gantong bagay. Nagllearn ka while feeling na its just a normal conversation with a friend or something kasi ang comfortable and ang light nung conversation as a whole. One content creator na di nakakaboring panoodin.

Kryz: "I don't know what I'm looking at!" -- This, exactly this. We're currently building our house and we've been told to always visit the site to inspect. And so when I do visit the site, I'm looking at concrete columns with steel bars sticking out of them and I'm like, okay, cool. Then what? Hahaha! I feel so validated. Thanks, Kryz! :D

Regarding your sponsor, I saw you using that mighty bond sa sapatos. I went to 7-Eleven the other day and they have another type na dedicated para sa mga sapatos. I tried the regular one. Dun sa other things that needed an instant glue, ok siya, it's working nicely. Pero some of stuff I used it on, it doesn't work at all. I even timed doing a press for a whole minute pero it won't stick. I even clean the surfaces. I think Slater Young is great. If he wasn't busy and expensive, I'd would hire him to build my dream house. He's very meticulous and I think that's a good thing for house owners to have an engineer na iniisip both ang kapakanan ng home owner and his own reputation.

I am a huge fan of this channel. I am not an engineer nor an architect but I am a house enthusiast. And i like this particular topic because i can relate 100 percent. Everyday, when i wake up, my routine is to visit every place in the house and in the garden to check for things that need fixing. I like what Slater said about house maintenance. It looks never ending because a house is a complex structure that needs constant care and fixing of tiny issues that if not addressed right away, might cause a bigger and more expensive renovation. And I think a house is very dynamic…it is constantly changing. Kryz is right when she said it will never be done. But owning a house and seeing it grow and change with you is one of the best experiences in life. More power to your channel. More topics like this Slater. Thank you for sharing your home with us through your vlogs.😊

That was pretty interesting! Especially now that our house is also under reno. It's a headache! 😵💫 But i undertstand when Slater said live in it kaagad kahit hindi pa tapos. We're living in our house as its being worked on and I can say its easier and faster to spot problem areas and point it our to the contractor. Also, got me thinking about buying the new Mighty Bond... Slater has a way of explaining that makes things easy to grasp. 🙂

I saw a reel about houses in Busay gone due to landslide during bagyong Paeng. I immediately thought of your house though you're not in Busay. What do you think about houses built in mountain tops or slopes? How do you make sure it is safer? Do you have criteria which mountain sites are okay to build houses on? Or is it just mother nature? Please enlighten.

Thank you for this video. I actually get irritated every time may pinapalitan ang husband ko sa bahay namin..like we dont have the resources to keep changing everything. We are not millionaires. Sometimes at the back of my mind sinasabi ko na dapat nag stick na lang kasi sa original plan. Pag may nangyayaring problem, parang nasisisi ko siya bakit ganito, bakit ganon. Now, i learned to appreciate him even more. At the end of the day, I'm thankful sa creative ideas niya. I will support him. Pag may mag arise na problem, gawan ng paraan and iwasan pag-awayan.

I am not sure why, but in the Philippines the builders/ plumbers do not use P traps that will hold water. The P trap will not allow the sewer smells to enter the house. Also there is no wax seal between the toilet and the floor which also could let sewer gas enter. But it is true there will always be some sort of changes/modifications that maybe were missed during the construction.

He is explaining how engineers answer mistakes on their projects. Typically, on my perspective, the reason why people needs engineer its because we trust them to build a well done house. So, what I am getting here is no matter how well planned and even you have engineers to help you out in building a house is that there will always be a problem that they can not foresee. I dont even know if cost benefit will works if you are building a house if that is the case.

I think the thing is when you're marrying someone with a profession is that they are obsessed literally in 1 aspect. for example, my mom is a nurse and she's obsessed in keeping us in good health always and will always panic at a slight cough, colds or minor wounds. as engineers kasi they are very meticulous when it comes sa safety and integrity eh based sa impressions ko with slater which is all good. even ako as a developer, I am very meticulous when it comes to tech gusto ko worth it yung bibilhin kong gadget or parts for my pc, yung nasusulit ko yung internet provider namin and I tend to research alot when it comes to cybersecurity and alot of stuff when it comes to software, games and websites. parang when you have this profession kasi we tend to make use of it for our benefit kasama yung family natin. yun ang napansin ko
@kidshaland331 Жыл бұрын
Im really inspired by Slater's technical ideas. Im building our small family house in my province and I always consider Slater's tips/ideas. Hahaha kahit di man siya ma apply dahil low cost lang naman bahay namin pero atleast may stepping stone ako na parang practice 😅 baka who knows manalo ako lotto I can build my dream house in the future 😂. Tips: Every year ipon kami magkapatid on each phase sa house construction project. It is now our 2nd year. Malayo pa sa finish line pero ok lang baby steps lang basta di ipipilit na mag utang sa malaking interest dahil its a big savings na. Itoy sa budgeted lang yung cash 😅
