Have a beautiful female, abandoned in our neighborhood. She was so little and starving. We took her in and got her healthy again. Her name is Misty and she is very loving and gentle. Loves the water faucets and sleeping by them. She is only about a year old. So happy to have her.

@@MaineCoonDaily Yes my daughter named him Jaxen (Male). He was only 6 weeks old. The lady that had the liter abandoned them with a friend of mine that rescues animal's and He was only 6 weeks old and we nursed him back to health. Which didn't take long. My only regret is I didn't adopt his brother with him. If I could I'd upload a pic from when a kitten till now he's 5 yrs old.

@@MaineCoonDaily 13 pounds already?! Wow. Huck is actually a little guy but very long. It will be interesting to see how big he gets. His mom wasn't big and I don't know about his dad. We shall see. I'd love it if he got really big, but no matter what, he's just precious. I can't believe it. He came at just the right time. We had to put our 16-year old cat down during the holidays, and I was heartbroken. Huck has really helped with that.

We have a female Maine Coon. She is 13 years old. Well loved and she insistent for her preferred sleeping spot behind my pillow. Smart, very chatty, and intelligent. She has a human vocabulary comprehension equal to a dog. She hates to be groomed and bites very hard.

One of ours insists on sleeping between our heads. All 4 are ok with grooming when they are sleepy. Our last 2.had to have sedated grooms at the vets twice a year - cost us a small fortune 🤣

Reason 11 Cause Stone Cold said so! Lol cats are just very soothing animals. Our Coon is super independent but when she wants love she is just as affectionate. Loves to play fetch. Her hair is silky soft. And is life a 4 year old that follows you around and just watch’s what you are doing. SHE IS A RIOT. And my life is richer for her being in it. That’s why you should get a Maine Coon.

Mine is a very dominant alpha male. He plays rough and has some attitude at times. As a rescue, he didnt learn the golden rule- "How hard you can bite your friends and have them remain your friend"

Sabrecat Smiladon mine is 5 months old and can get agressive from time to time with me when he wants to play and I am busy. He will literally lunge at me, attacking me. 😬😬. I nip it in the bud pretty fast by throwing a toy at him, but jeez! He's fiesty. On the days I am able to spend ALOT of time playing with him he is the sweetest, most lovable thing ever ❤️❤️

I rescued a Maine Coon and he is a very special friend. He is never too far from our sight, very friendly except when he visits the vet. then he acts as if he's feral and has never been socialized at all. Because he is such a large cat he is intimidating and they have to sedate him before they can do a check up or give him his vaccines. The sedation concerns me as he gets older because I know this isn't good for him.

How lovely that you rescued him. Our last two boys had to be sedated for grooming twice per year and they both lived to 15. Our vet said we shouldn't worry as the sedation is a low dose. They always check their heart rate before and during. Like you, I still used to worry about it. What's his name?

They are the best of both worlds really. They have the best of cats and dogs. 🥰 I love'em because of it. You forgot they love water. Turn on the tab and watch them play in there. 😅I had a half breed one and he would jump into the tub everything the tab turned on. He enjoyed water so much, and even more so because I gave him attention. It is hard to get a Maine here in South Florida, but are well worth it. They have loyalty and companionship that are compared to dogs and horses. Most other cat breeds don;t have that level of bonding and love. I also love their lay back attitude. They are such a peaceful cat breed. I never had difficulties with Maine Coons. They love attention and never claw, they have saint-like patience too. Thank you for your video.

Hi, I'm glad you like it and obviously love Maine Coons as much as we do. They are amazing. One of our last two would only drink from the tap. When he was too old to jump he used to meow for us to lift him up on the draining board or into the bathroom basin. The four we have now love their drinking fountain, dip their paws in and splash water everywhere. They are all so gentle, never claw us, let us groom them, and are just so loving. One of our boys comes and trills at me and leads me to the kitchen whenever he fancies a snack. Every day, they surprise us and do something new to make us laugh. I got my boy in January at 3 months , I was told my the previous owners he is mix, he is now 6 months very big, and has all the caricatic of a fully maine coon. The hair on his belly is like the full breed, his back and head has short hair.

On Halloween 3 years ago, my neighbour knocked on my door and asked: 'Do you want a cat?' Immediately I said 'Yes!', and in another few minutes they knocked again, this time carrying a small black bundle of fur. I took the kitten from them, and that was the start of the wonderful friendship of Mr. Midnight. We already had a Tuxedo Ragdoll ( Luna ), and in no time the 2 cats came to know and love each other. Mr. Midnight is a very intelligent, friendly, and cuddly animal whose mission in life is to be cute. It turned out that he was the runt of the litter, and so he didn't grow very big; he's still got a kitten face and only weighs about 10 lbs. I have a few videos on my channel if you'd like to see him, two of them are him playing with toys and his 'Uncle' Luna ( our Tuxedo Ragdoll ), and one is of him playing with the very first mouse he 'caught'. ( the mouse was lying dead in the back of the cupboard, but he didn't care )

@@MaineCoonDaily Thanks for subscribing~! The toy is a Bergan 'Turbo Scratcher'; it's Ok for a short time but gets shredded pretty fast, and the refills are expensive. I'm keeping it with the center empty because they have lots of other things to scratch.

I thought my kitty was a ragdoll; then I was told that ragdolls are only that cream/flame point (ish) variety. Mine was tux, also, but from a rescue. Do you know any more about this? Can a tux be a ragdoll? Would love your input.

@@ritasmith9553 Ragdolls or 'Floppy Cats' are a breed of cat; Tuxedo is a coat pattern. So yes, you can have a Tuxedo Ragdoll. It's purebred Ragdolls that have the creamy coat with a'Siamese' look to them.

I got my beauty from the shelter and a few days later decided to cut her nails. I thought I'd do one claw today and give a treat and hope she gets uiused to it. No problem. I was able to cut all her claws the first time I tried.

I've actually owned both a maine cone and a ragdoll at the same time before (still have the ragdoll). And they both behave very similarly to each other. They both are very talkative, but maincoones overall are a little more dog like and cuddly than ragdolls. So a maincoone will randomly come up to you to cuddle more often than a ragdoll though that's not to say ragdolls aren't massive attention whores too. I personally slightly prefer ragdolls overall bc they're a little closer to your average cat in terms of how they behave while still being much friendlier

@@davidr6914 Check around for rescues, or blended MC, RD, or also Siberian. Wonderful cats, all! The best way to have a GOOD KITTY is to communicate with them, and be sure their needs are tended to. They are a lot more patient if they know you are going to help them as SOON AS YOU CAN. If you don't know what they want, teach them "show me." And stand/walk with them, so they know they have your attention. Any kitty, really.

Hi Byron, Fortunately, Maine Coons are less than that in the UK. A reputable breeder charges between £850 and £1200, so $1200 to $1700. I guess Maine Coons are rarer where you are. Also, some breeders do overcharge. Still, a Maine Coon mix is just as lovely and just as deserving of a good home. How did you come by yours? Best wishes, Jane.

No, people are just greedy. I'm in Canada. A puppy is anywhere from $1,500-8,000. Regular cats are easier to get. $100-300. Maine Coons are crazy high priced here.

Well hello pets knowledge base! I just found your channel, great work! She will definitely put on some weight now =] I'm going to be honest, I'm going to let her eat as much as she wants for a good bit of time. I'm doing small amounts of soft and dry pretty much whenever she wants for the time being at least until she gets healthier. This morning, the vet said she's about 5 pounds under weight which is a lot for a cat. She answers to mar sounds so we're thinking her name must have been Martha, Marley, marmalade or marmaduke something like that. I'm not going to change anything else on her, she's had a rough couple of years so mar it is. We are going to work on proper socializing but with her being about 3, it's going to be minor, two steps forwards one step back sort of experience but we will get there. Hey thanks for all the great work you all do on this channel! Absolutely love it!

1 reason not to own a Main Coon, $2500.00 for a cat, are people f^%king insane? the first person who paid more than $500.00 for an animal, dog or cat should have been hung at the gallows, let alone $2500.00-4000.00 for an animal, that could get run over the next day, run away or get sick and die within a year, I love my cat wish I could get a real Main Coon, but I can buy a motor cycle or a car for those prices, then get a free kitten that will love me just the same
