I'm from NYC and I never been a fan of the drill scene. I mean tbh, that's always been for the kids. However I've always liked the stuff Pop, Fivio and Rowdy dropped. Lets be honest, what it REALLY is… New York shxt on a lot of people, esp the South when they were coming up. Once NY fell from the top of the charts, there is really no love or relatability among people from other places that are above a certain age. The only way for NY to get love nowadays is within YOUTH culture. Youth culture with social media is like a Hive Mind. They latch onto whatever sound is tribal at the moment, it’s not really THAT diverse. In this regard, Fivio is facing the same problem that guys like Dave East and Don Q face. They can get some heat going based on who they work with, but, on their own? Not so much. And it’s not just NY. LA too is very regional. It’s hard for someone like a J Stone or BSG to breakout. Only guys that appeal mostly to the younger fans like Bobby, Pop, ABoogie can get that love despite being from NY. Even Meek is having the same trouble connecting to younger fans. Kind of sad really because Fivio can really rap.
