He uploaded loads of remixes and gradually built up a large enough audience from youtube remixes and now is genuinely considered a top level rapper. I get that it's not just remixes, but if we are patient enough, we will get good quality music if the artist has that amount of talent. (Btw, Dax has a fair amount of good original songs that are very good on a technical level too.)

It'll always be difficult to endorse the complicated, technical, lyricism heavy side of hip-hop to the common listener because people never wanna go out of their way to breakdown music. They don't even want to know what the song means as long as they can just move to it because the mass population is plain dumb and is still 5-10 years behind when it comes to comprehending music and understanding it's complexities. Art and entertainment ki baat nahi hai, it's about understanding good music or choosing the dumber route. And considering the artists that are huge rn, it's easy to see people have been doing the latter.
