You don't really need a doctrine for a field as benign as talk therapy, as therapists don't dispense medication or even much advice. Think of it as a handrail-they’re just there for minor support so you can handle the rest. I don't know much about BetterHelp, so this isn’t a defense of them. But from what I can tell, it's essentially for people who need someone to talk to. With that narrow focus in mind, I can see how it might help some people. Might is the key word in that sentence. I can see a future where AI could possibly handle this. Maybe Betterhelp won't be around for long. Judging from their reputation without Betterhelp you can get better help.

For information, visco-elastic properties are generally determined by sending oscillations to the submerged rod (or to two plates with the fluid in between) and measuring force vs movement of the rod. If the tested product is elastic, the force is proportional to displacement, while if it is viscous, the force is proportional to velocity (ie derivative of displacement). So, if you plot force vs displacement, oscillations are in phase for elastic , out of phase by 90° for viscous and in between for viscous-elastic. Varying the force can give you the shear thinning properties if any and varying the frequency will give you the time dependency (visco-elastic fluid will be elastic at high frequencies because the long molecules don't have the time to rearrange and viscous at low frequencies)

Watching the stir bar and the PEG bulging in the center reminded me of galaxies and how mass tends to fall to the center. I wonder if that's a good analogy. Do spinning galaxies move like non-Newtonian fluids?
@tarille104317 күн бұрын
Not as such. Non-Newtonian fluids work based on elasticity between molecules, which allows them to defy gravity (Up to a point). Galaxies are entirely about gravitational forces interacting on things (With the compounding effect of increased density of mass providing more gravitational pull). The interaction of non-newtonian fluids would function differently without gravity, creating a different overall shape (More like the sideways bar in the slime - With the fluid extending in both directions) rather than the typical "Disc with a bulge in the centre" shape that galaxies often form.

Action Lab: you are incorrect about the method of action of PEG-3350 (Miralax) as a laxative. It is not the fact it is slippery, but what Wikipedia says: [Miralax] is an osmotically acting laxative; that is, an inert substance that passes through the gut without being absorbed into the body. It relieves constipation because it causes water to be retained in the bowel instead of being absorbed into the body. This increases the water content and volume of the stools in the bowel.

I have a question that i believe can only be answered with an experiment: If we have a long enough tube full of really cold water but with a really strong heat source on the bottom that can cause the water to boil and turn into vapor will the bubbles condensate back into water before reaching the surface? i am guessing that given a long enough tube that will occur but how long? preferentially not bubbles the size of the ones you see on sodas or electrolysis... i guess i just wanted to see a really big bubble get smaller and smaller until it disappeared... Also... will the heat spread more efficiently through water if it doesn't get past the boiling point? i am guessing the heat inside bubbles wont make contact with the water around so maybe it's not optimal for heat spread... not to mention that past the boiling point it just turns into vapor and goes away so the system loses more energy that way...
@tarille104317 күн бұрын
Yes, the bubbles will condensate back into water before reaching the surface provided there is enough distance for them to be cooled below the state change temperature. The main issue with such an experiment would be trying to create such a setup in the first place. Given the very high heat capacity of water making it difficult to increase the temperature of, you will most likely cause the entire vessel full of water to increase in temperature thus you wouldn't encounter any potential cooling effect. You'd be better off with some liquid that has a much lower boiling temperature and heat capacity that can come in contact with a very high heat and instantly boil without affecting the entire body of liquid (So the liquid not in contact with the heat source remains cool)
@TiagoFilipeCabral17 күн бұрын
@tarille1043 i suppose we can heat water on a second container and force the steam into the bottom of the tube with really cold water using a release valve... I think it may not be that complicated afterall, i recon even i can do it but probably no one would see it x)
