A lot of information left out and plenty of it incorrect.

Suriname was pushed to become independent by the progressive Dutch government in the seventies, so the claim The Netherlands wanted to keep their colonies is incorrect. Nowadays the remaining colonies are financially reliant on the Dutch government, which is the main reason to remain in the kingdom. Fun fact: a Dutch citizen that wants to go to Curaçao needs to get a visa stamp at Immigration, and technically it is another country within the kingdom.

Technically, legally and historically they are all Dutch citizens, wether they live in The Netherlands or on the islands. That the ‘Dutch Dutch’ need a stamp at immigration is a leftover from their own colonial past, it’s a rule they made! Anyway, the Dutch made those islands into what they are, there are no original inhabitants. For over 400 years the islands have been Dutch and the Dutch did whatever they liked with those island (Pirate base, slave trading post, oil refining, strategic financial off shore trusts etc). That’s longer than the Netherlands have been an official country themselves!

So much factual errors, misnomers and poor word choice here. I was hoping to learn about my country's colonial past, but I stopped watching after "the Dutch government in Amsterdam".

The Dutch government is not in Amsterdam but in Den Haag (The Hague).
