Why is it always the case that the alternative to the Q source is that Luke would have related Matthew and not that Matthew would have related Luke? For example, in the Gospels of Mark and Luke, the sign of Jonah appears only once, but in the Gospel of Matthew, the sign of Jonah appears twice, in a short version corresponding to Mark and in a long version corresponding to Luke.

Mike we know we can find helpful values in the Bible‘s messages. However, if you walk up to Jesus just after he finishes one of his sermons on the mount and ask the following three questions, how would the real historical Jesus answer? Did you come to planet Earth to create a new religion or have your followers create a new religion called Jesusanity or Messiahanity or Christianity? Did you come to Earth to create a new set of holy scriptures equal in authority to the Torah? (Do you want your followers to create a new holy book that is equal or overrides the Torah)? Are you a deity? The answer to all three is almost certainly NO WAY!

And then ask what must I do to earn eternal life. You know that answer is opposite of what the rest of the NT says.

@@briancoxaccthis only works if Jesus of Nazareth was just a regular human. If He’s not just a regular human, then it falls apart.

@@YTuser2019 Do you think Jesus would answer yes to those three questions? Why do you think that when Jesus teaches the opposite? You are putting Christian ideas onto the lips of a committed Jew.
