I've actually looked into them but it seems so weird to me! They will obviously be lighter than tablets because one side of each wheel has the cut away but having an asymmetrical wheel just sounds so off to me lol I might have to try them to find out though!

@@LeonPaxtonfinitely give ‘em a go! Mine are small at 52mm, but I took em off after a couple sessions… Then just went back to them after thinking about the design and what I was skating, so I was stoked they worked! Not sure I can live with Tablets over Classics or Radial’s… which tend to be my favs, but I have the Tabs on a smaller setup and they’ve been surprisingly good. 🔥

@@LeonPaxton Doesn't it make total sense for a wheel to be round on the outside for tre flips, and more cornered on the inside for tight lock-in on rails? I don't understand why they don't make asymmetrical shapes the standard, what's the point in being able to turn the wheel around? That used to be a thing in the 80s when the urethane was worse and wheels would cone out after a while, but it hasn't been an issue for a long time I think...

Thanks dude, appreciate that a lot 🙏🏼 They definitely surprised me! They are very similar to the conicals but the biggest difference for me was definitely how square the edge was which reduce my 'scoop' and the wider riding surface felt pretty nice but you would be used to that with the Conical fulls. I think Conical fulls are the next shape I would likely try since I've never tried that shape and am getting used to a wider riding surface now with the tablets 🤔

I just recently bought a pair of 50mm Tablets in 99a and absolutely love them. I originally rode the 50mm classics in 101a and didn't like them at all. Originally being a diehard Bones guy (the V3 50mm 103a wheel was my favourite wheel), I found (like most Spitfire wheels) the classics to be too unnecessarily bulky and sluggish with their 30mm width. If Spitfire did a V3-esque shape they'd bury Bones for sure (Bones haven't released a decent 50mm wheel in years and many of their STFs don't seem to be selling, with many shops here in the UK giving them away for £20 when most would cost £40+). With the 50mm tablets, the width is 27mm and I noticed a weight and control difference almost immediately, especially on grinds where the slide felt more controlled and the side-cut profile of the wheel gave me a lot more hangar exposure for grinds. I felt like with the classics I kept missing the lock in or "bouncing" off the grind rather than being able to lock in and sit on it comfortably, especially for crooks, feebles, and hurricanes.
@LeonPaxton
@LeonPaxton Жыл бұрын
Oh dude, that would have been such a big difference from a 101a classic shape to a 99 tablet shape for sure! I had a similar problems with classics too! I didn't feel like I could get a comfortable lock in on grinds although being able to pop out of grinds worked a lot better since there was less friction when I was grinding on the classic shaped wheels

Some of the best all round street wheels round are the Spitfire - F4 Classics 58MM 99A you can slide on rougher ground, angle up banks, plow through gravel, and thread through pedestrian grip on streets without slowing down if your axle width is spot on. I love squared wide wheels for cruiser boards but counter intuitively (for me at least) I found a popsicle street set up is better served with lighter wheels that punch through terrain and speed check easily on rough roads even if tram tracks need to be aproached at a 45 + angle or ollied.

I agree 100%. They are sealed bearings. Without shields, they only produce friction and heat, leading to premature wear. The consistency of the oils when you purchase bearings is the only thing to look for. Bronson g3 has a less viscosity, so they are automatically smoother. I thought it was only kids removing these.

@@LeonPaxton dude I LOVE the STF formula, they seem to flat spot less than the formula fours from Spitfires. I mean you can still flat spot em, but I’ve noticed not quite as easily.

@@LeonPaxton just seems to pair the best! Skated conical fulls on a 9” before & tablets on a 8.125 and they complimented each other well 🤷🏻‍♂️ looked the best as well since tablets on a 9”+ would be like a tank with bike wheels lmao

I personally hate all these new wheels(dragon,x,etc). They are wider and are a mix of soft and hard. Which means they are somewhat unpredictable. Its like getting the negative effects of both. They are soft, but not soft enough to cruise over stuff like soft wheels should. They are also hard, but dont slide like a hard wheel can. They grip sometimes and dont others. They also deform quicker and more unevenly That, and $50 for wheels, of this material, is insane. The only time i could see them being somehwat beneficial is maybe at a skatepark that has a really slick floor. Besides that, i dont understand the hype and every pro i have seen skate them switches wheels in the next video i see them in. I could buy two sets of pro wheels for the same price

I would recommend the Mini Logo 95a wheels, also conical shape. They are amazing wheels at half the cost. Well worth it. Apart from this though I would say in most ways the Spitfite formula 4 full conicals are worth it to me. They last a very very long time. Expensive yes, but durable. As for Dragons and Formula X, those are Bones wheels and I don't think those live up to the hype at all. But I have to confess I don't like Bones wheels that much, too sticky!
@LeonPaxton

Yeah it seems like they are trying to tick too many boxes with one set of wheels which doesn't really work 🤔 Haha that's true man! I've tried a lot of products and then just gone back to what I was riding before that video lol Sometimes it's just fun to try out different brands and products though

@@LeonPaxton for sure! Like tablets, but not as sharp edge. I tried x97 formula bones, the slide is insane. No effort needed to make them slide is zero, and they feel like you can slide em at 25 mph even if its a narrow 54 mm. Rolls better on rough concrete than anyhting I've tried. And this comes from a hardcore, years long f4 supporter

I'm not interested in Tablets. They are good for locking while keeping a small diameter though. I spent most of my skate life on Spitfire Classics and Bighead. I liked it when they were worn down 1-2mm. My current wheels are Bones V5 and Radials. Bones V5 are like Conicals. I like the weight saving and the locking on grinds. I don’t feel like there is less drag on grinds though. Radials are like bigger worn down Classics. I appreciate how smoother they are when sliding out of the coping. Fulls are too big, too heavy, too grippy, except Conical Fulls in small diameter.
