Wearing a Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic 39mm blue dial right now, and I couldn't agree more. I think B&M and ML, possibly Junghans also, fly under the radar due to them making quartz variants of the watches as well. Tissot also does this, and it unfortunately keeps the brand perception at a lower level :/

I have an almost 50 year old Mido. Since I got it from my grandfather 20 years ago, never had a service. The date function is not working, the gold plating has worn off in a lot of places mainly at the "creases", gains about a minute a day, but hey, it still works. Great little watch and a memory of grandpa everytime I put it on.

@Angel d Teran Nomos makes their own movements from top to bottom but other than that and the very high end brands, yeah, not much in terms of German made movements. There were a lot of good German made movements up until the late 80s (made in GDR) but their main selling point was "good quality for cheap price" and this was killed in the 90s by very cheap and accurate Quartz movements.

The silicone monolithic design is a really cool innovation in mechanical watchmaking (technically Zenith did it first, but never in a significant production run, and at a ludicrous price), but the specific design of the watch face doesn't really do it for me. If they put that mechanism into a dive or a field watch, I'll be all over that!

Im a Sinn and Damasko fan. I own a bunch of both and ive beat the crap out of both. They actually work together and share technologies with each other which is also cool. But the reason Damasko is attainable is because they sell all their watches on the strap and if you want one of their watches on a bracelet, your paying like over 600 dollars. As you're into vintage watches have you heard of a German company called Kienzle, I am currently wearing one that used to be my grandads and then my dads. It's about 35mm and is quite a workhorse, it's even antimagnetic.

MIDO, a brand worth of looking at!!

Have to agree, Mido definitely deserves more attention. I've been keeping an eye divers watches and have been leaning toward Longine and Mido. As for other brands, I haven't seen a lot of attention given to Muhle Glashutte, and they have some beautiful, solid watches made in Germany.

I fully agree - I have a Mühle Glashütte Teutonia Chronograph - i love it! Also I don't see much attention given to Union Glashütte

Frederique Constant is a great manufacturer. They are very well respected for their innovations and their watches hold up value quite good. Respect!

Enjoyed the vid 👍 At this (later) point in my life, can't justify anything more than $1,000 with my better half for a non-necessity. Now; when I retire in the next 3 to 5 years, I have a choice - - a single high $$ watch or an entire barrel of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel of my personal choosing after sampling barrels which starts around $10k for the entire barrel which all the bottles are personalized + other things) of which I can gift bottles to family, friends and close coworkers. Different stages in life dictate different priorities and different decisions. Everyone has different priorities; none of which are wrong.

I got the Mido Ocean Star Tribute. Tuorquoise variant with the bracelet. Stunning piece, got it discounted at my local AD for 740.00€. I will never sell it because it was a bargain!

There is another underrated germany brand - archimede. They also have complicated steel for cases like damasko and sinn.

Agree on Certina. Also Eterna and their Kontiki heritage. Hanhart too has great heritage in fliegers and rally watches.

Albeit I don't own one yet I'd been LOOKING to pick up a MIDO as the price points are there to be had Jory. Secondly I'm a Swatch man. Adding one to my collection will partner with TISSOT, CERTINA. HAMILTON. CALVIN KLINE. ALL ETAs & variants. Looking at RADO too. Great job bud. Thank you

Vintage Eterna watches such as the Kontiki and even the Centenaire. Ball bearing rotor, so incredibly smooth.

Ha, I really enjoyed your video because I independently came to the same conclusion of the Glashütte Pano Powerreserve with manual wind ( more astoningly my wife pointed that out in rose gold black dial) and the federique constant I felt the same and I love my Midos vintage and reissues like the decompression timer…instead of Damasko I would have chosen Laco…pls check out the spirit of St. Louis…it resembles the original plane clock….so gorgeous and exceptional in my collection. But even Longines, Hamilton, Breguet and a lot more from the Swatch group is overlooked…even Glashütte Original belongs to the Swatch Group…or consider Glycine, Bulova, Timex, Alpina,…

Rado is pretty overlooked. Most people only know of the captain cook. I really like the Hyperchrome line and the GoldenHorse pieces.
