It’s a physical representation of our love for wrestling. And it’s hard to explain that to non wrestling fans because there’s nothing like wrestling out there. It doesn’t stop, the storylines, characters, emotions all make us feel on a weekly basis and at the end of the day it’s a physical form of our love for this that we get to own. Im 23 now and I’m more into collecting figures than I was as a child when I had the imagination to play with them. You really have to be in the know to know and it’s a fun thing to be a part of. As long as you don’t go overboard with spending and it brings you some form of happiness there is NO reason to be ashamed or hold back on it. I see myself doing it forever tbh :)

hasbro are timeless. i dont watch wrestling anymore, i was in/out of wrestling quite abit, my favourite era range was 87-99. i appreciate wrestling toys look more advanced than the cartoony hasbro, but to me hasbro will always be the best. theyre just perfect and capture personality and imagination as opposed to modern figs which might look literal. i never bought a wrestling ring. my dad who was a carpenter made one from spare offcuts from the building site, and the ropes my mum got these colourful elastic thick strings from the local market back in the day. during summer times off primary and even secondary school i used to write up match lineups of PPVs including some 'imaginary' wrestlers from toys of other TV programmes, and it was just FUN, man. this was 30 years ago. i miss those figures very much. theyre long gone now. i'll always treasure them. they were some of the best things in my life. we had the best toys in the 80s and early 90s - thundercats, he-man, ghostbusters, turtles, WWF wrestlers, even simpsons and thunderbirds. wish i could build a time machine and go back there. unlike you i have no kids or family of my own so theres that part that i miss too, it makes me cry...

Great video! I’ve watched wrestling most of my life. I still remember my dad waking me up in the middle of the night to watch HBK vs Bret Hart at WrestleMania. I’ve only really started to collect the figures this past year though. I’m like you and just love the look of them. I don’t play with them. I display them MOC. I feel I started to collect the figures because I can now finally afford to. When I was younger in the ‘Jakks titantron’ days my parents bought me a few but I didn’t have the money to buy all the ones I wanted. My wife watches wrestling with me sometimes but doesn’t get why I like to collect the figures. We’ve had a few arguments around it in the past. She believes it’s childish. “They’re just stupid toys”. I won’t change though. I love collecting the figures. Lots of great figures revealed at Ringside Fest to look forward to next year.

I have been a wrestling fan since 1984, took a 16 year break in the mid 2000's. Started watching again around pandemic times, but could not get into the no crowds. Ive been watching pretty regularly since WM38 and Cody's return. I had a bunch of the Hasbro's in my youth and later collected a lot of Jakks figures. Sold them off around 2001 and regretted it. I discovered Mattel elites in 2023, when I found out they still make figures from when I was the BIGGEST fan, 1985-2005. So I started getting some of the golden era guys, then added some attitude era guys, dabbled with a few of the modern era guys, then latched on to Cody Rhodes. In about 18 months, I have amassed a HUGE collection. I realized that it keeps me focsed on something other than the shite politics and real world responsibilities. I work a job that is literally back breaking, I figured at 51 it's time to allow myself to enjoy something. I am not a smoker, drinker, gambler, I just don't do those things. This is become a fun hobby for me. I like taking photos of them and showing off my collection from time to time. I even started making short youtube video reviewing and showing the figures off. I am not a figure expert, but I know wrestling and I know what I would like to see in wrestling figures. It's a lot more fun than constantly wondering why we don't have universal healthcare in this country.
@Jimmy_Wrestling20 күн бұрын
This was a great read. Thank you for that. It’s a shame you sold off a lot of your collection but it’s great to hear that you rekindled your love for wrestling tans the hobby of figure collecting. Suffice to say that nostalgia is a big part of why you collect?
@hco.brandon_lee908018 күн бұрын
I think a huge part of it is nostalgia. Similarly, I always had them when I was younger. I was the kid with the “wrasslers” in my family while everyone else was into other things. Of course there were common interests like comic characters, power rangers, and turtles. Even those things for me carried over too with collecting. Having things to represent your fandom isn’t so misunderstood, just something with “action figures” get convoluted. I don’t play with any thing out side of posing a new toy or when I have to dust and decide to change them up. That’s where I get second thoughts on the direction of my hobby. Why do I need an action figure with accessories and multiple points of articulation when i don’t utilize any of it. I often think statues would have been a better route. But then there’s the availability to get pieces that represent my fandoms. And they’re usually more expensive. I think the attractive thing about massed produced figures is the price and distribution (those things are debatable too though lol). I only buy certain characters and don’t need every look/costume, or get caught up in chasing definitive versions. My collection, to me still feels more personal and fits my space. But I love to show my wife pictures and videos of the Kyle Petersons to show her it could be worst!
@Jimmy_Wrestling18 күн бұрын

I've always had wrestling figures since I was a child. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. We had a couple of Swap Meets that we would frequent. I would buy AAA/CMLL figures from Mexico. And I would get those old thumb wrestlers and a couple of LJNs. Later on, we moved to Houston for a year and that's when I got deep into WWF Bone Crunchers and WCW ToyBiz. I lost my collection a long time ago because we moved around a lot, and my mom wouldn't haul my figures. But recently, during 2020, I got back into collecting. I'm limiting it to WWE Elites and a few Basics. Mainly sticking with guys from The Attitude Era/Monday Night Wars. I have a WWF/DX/Ministry roster on one side. And I have a WCW/NWO/Wolfpac roster on another side. I just do it for the nostalgia. Takes me to a better time.
@Jimmy_Wrestling17 күн бұрын
Nostalgia certainly seems to be a huge and very popular reason. 😊

I relate it to a painting or art. There’s just a certain aesthetic that triggers, memories and joy and meaning for me, when it comes to collecting any action figure. For example, I have a sting collection. Sting is always represented everything that I wanted to be as a kid Back when he was the colorful surfer character. Then when he transitioned to the crow character, he resonated with me even more because I was always a quiet introvert. And each wrestler or character represents a certain aspect of my personality or identity or values.

I have a couple reasons as to why i started collecting again. I got a few figures here and there when i was a kid and fell out of love with wrestling cause of the creative direction. Always kept up with it but didn’t watch consistently until the bloodline story started. I like the idea of collecting something and i like how they look on display, i always take them out of the box and love to pose them and take pictures with the attitude era ring i own. The way figs have evolved and how they look on display just is super appealing to me. Also i think keeping a part of your childhood alive is important, it just brings me happiness to me and i know other people. (also i like spending money lol) There’s too many reasons to list why to collect

@r.hewlin832822 күн бұрын
@@Jimmy_Wrestling yeah that is terrible. I also collect other lines like Marvel Legends and a lot of fellow collectors from UK always express how they get the short end of the stick when it comes to international distribution. Especially the crowd funded stuff like Haslabs. I figured Mattel would be a little better in that regard but I see it's tough either way.
@Jimmy_Wrestling22 күн бұрын
@r.hewlin8328 Ringside is the worst though, the postage is calculated per item. So rather than buying a few figures and all bundled in to 1, they do it per item, costs us a fortune. Suffice to say I don’t order much from ringside for that reason.

I don’t collect wrestling figures but if the wrestlers from the old AWA and NWA/Jim Crockett Promotions (and other territories pre-WCW and WWE) were made in an accurate and dedicated series I think I would. I liked the old WWF up to a point but the NWA was more prominent on TV so I watched hours of it on weekends back in the mid eighties and also attended shows in Johnson City, TN (Great American Bash 86-88.). So many great characters and feuds: Midnight Express, RnR Express, Nikita and Ivan Koloff, Original Four Horseman with Ole, Landell, Valiant, Garvins, Buzz Sawyer, Tommy Rich old school Road Warriors, Dusty and Magnum TA, Wahoo and definitely the Mulkey Brothers and more. Those would make a great collection and display, period correct ring and all.

Always been a wrestling fan since first watching WWE (or rather, WWF) back in 1990 on Sky One. Something I've never really grown out of and hey, wrestling is just silly and fun. Too many things now a days in the world are overly serious so why not induldge in something for a bit of entertainment? It's one of these things that I feel those who "get it" it'll just resonate and click with them right away like it did for myself. Those who don't get it and can't see wrestling for what it is never will get it. And that's fine. Just wish those who don't like it will stop saying to us things like "you do know it's fake, right?". We know what wrestling is. 😂 I had loads of Hasbro's as a kid but grew out of the toys era before hitting my teens and it never really crossed my mind to ever get back into it as a hobby during my adult years. Late 2019 had done a bit of renovating of my room and had some cabinets that my TV now sat on top of but nothing to really put in them for displaying. But not long before that, i'd really gotten into watching Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins doing their Fig Hunting videos (Figure It Out!) on WWE's KZbin so I guess watching a lot of that content kind of gave me the itch. So figured I'd buy a few of my faves as they'd just be good to display in my man-cave. So bought some initially to fill out those cabinets then it turned into a sort of mild pass time and then that little thing came along in early 2020 called Coronavirus and well seeing as we couldn't do much or go anywhere I needed something to stop me from going insane in lockdown so this mild pass time became a full on hobby with shopping online for figures extensively. So here we are in 2024, 39 years old, and i'm still collecting. My man-cave is basically now a WWE figure cave. Got over 500+ now. 😄

@Jimmy_Wrestling it's all good man. By the way I started my wrestling figures collection with the WWF hasbros too. Still have a bunch of them. Also have the WCW galoob figures from 1990 or 91

@GameTime-yj6qv something very special about the hasbros and the galoobs. 😊

@Jimmy_Wrestling honestly, before throwing myself into collecting I was a mess. I am right now sat in front of my detolf just smiling (it helps that I have given a lot of them santa hats...poundland battery operated lights...just twist the hats off they look incredible) it has given me a lot of joy that I genuinely really needed.

Dude that’s awesome how collecting has helped you. That’s the thing, so many people don’t quite understand how it actually helps. It can be something to take your mind off of things that you’re struggling with and give you a new focus. Thanks for sharing this with us dude.

I don’t have a scooby. Good question is why do we support Arsenal still after drawing 1-1 to Fulham

Haha, oh dear, not the best result but at least not a loss. Still up there. Long way to go yet.

Whaaaaat no Teddy D and Steamer Ultimates? That Million Dollar Man is figure of the year for me
@Jimmy_Wrestling14 күн бұрын
Tbf I did mean to get it but just didn’t order it. I always get the colosseum figures too. I’ve had some bad experience though with Mattel creations and i think it kind of put me off lol. But they’re still available so probably will get them soon.

@@Jimmy_Wrestling bro teddy looks so good in the soft goods suit. I was wondering plus they had a deal like 30 percent off. You should check it out. I love trying to predict who we'll see next because I loved the LJN figures from the 80s. Ok I know he just signed a deal months back so I'm saying Jesse The Body Ventura with either Mean Gean or Gorilla

@matthewemmons5953 awesome. I do plan on getting it. 😊

There is nothing wrong with collecting figs, I am 43 I started selling them then eventually started to collect them. I still watch old WWF videos and current WWE just to see whats hot when I am selling.
@Jimmy_Wrestling18 күн бұрын
Do you trade in 2nd hand figures or do you have an account with Mattel to trade new figs? It’s nice that you collect as well as sell. 😊

@Jimmy_Wrestling because when January comes will not be able to watch raw anymore

You won’t purchase Netflix then? I’m guessing you live in the states? For us in the UK the move to Netflix is so much better as it costs a fortune to have sky and BT sports. So now can do away with those and watch on Netflix. Will save me some decent money.

I have every Bray Wyatt and CM Punk, LOD figures. Collecting is the only good thing in this world. Hammers are rubbish so collecting makes me happy 😂. My step daughter collects because of me and i hope my collection will help my daughter when im gone.
@Jimmy_Wrestling22 күн бұрын
So, you’re a Hammers fan huh? I don’t know what to say dude, but I’m an Arsenal fan. Interesting game the other night. 🤣🙈 Football aside, yes collecting wrestling figures is fun. It can bring a bit of light to a dull world.
@shanemaugham742022 күн бұрын
@Jimmy_Wrestling Yeah, unfortunately 😂. I saw your top! It was a strange game but we are rotten from the ground up. On a positive, another pasting will hopefully see Floppy leave but our owners need to be sacked as well. My parents sold most of my 80s figure's, so started collecting again. Marvel, Wwe, Neca. Been to many toy cons. Missus hates it but it keeps me happy and found some grails like the elite lod. My friend owns a toy shop called Retro Maina in Kettering. Keep an eye out on his online store as he gets loads of retro wwe figure's.

45 obsessed with wrestling collect the figures my dad is a pain in the arse with why do I spend money on collecting figures its doing no harm I'm not gambling smoking drinking or spending my hard earned money on drugs I'm spending it on something that takes me back to my youth notagia etc
@joaquinalcatraz199016 күн бұрын
Why do we collection figurines. Its another form of idolism. We are fans. We use them for decoration just like gardeners and painters. Most of my figures are movie related but i do have wrestlings.

Ive mostly been a fan of rassling in my 20s... and I started collecting toys in my 30s. A bit odd, but it is what it is! 😅. For whatever reason wrestling is the only sport that people think is soley for kids. I grew up during the time of ECW and the Attitude era so I respectfully disagree.
@Jimmy_Wrestling16 күн бұрын
No problem with starting your collection in your 30’s. It still represents a very enjoyable time and brings back those memories from when you were a kid watching your heroes back in the attitude era 😊
