Wow, this is articulated really well! I couldn't quite figure out how to word why "drawing what we see is better than drawing what we think we see" when trying to improve drawing skills, but this is spot on. Drawing from a reference or real life allows us to process what we are seeing in more ways and see all the details, whereas, if you are drawing from memory, you only have the information you processed, or, only the details you noticed (which might not be enough).-paraphrased from video "Imagining what something looks like, and actually seeing what something looks like, are not the same thing." is easy to see it as both, just close one eyes, and then open and close the other eye and it shifts each time between rabbit and duck.. my left eye see it as a rabbit, is my dominant eye, and my right eye see it as a duck and is not dominant eye....
