Man what a powerful and moving score. This scene is by far my favorite in the trilogy. The Dark Knight Rises is laced with such profound themes and ideas. The Climb is a perfect example. The climb scene is a reflection of the first time Bruce fell into the cave when he was seven years old. He was afraid, and his fear of bats haunted him - as a child and as an adult. His father had to save him from the cave he fell in as a child. Without Bruce's parents, he can't leave the "cave" where Batman was born because. he's too afraid. But the pit was a metamorphic experience for him. For once in Bruce's life, he let fear consume him and instill the fear of death in him. For once Bruce doesn't want to die, or else his city will burn and fall into "ashes" - a fate worse than death for Bruce. A scenario in where he will fail in what he hoped to amount to in life with his crusade as Batman. The Climb, is when Bruce developed the willpower to escape. The bats that bolted out of the crevasse during the climb were symbolic of his fear of returning to him once again. The fear of death returning to him - the most powerful impulse of life. In The Climb, Bruce managed to escape without the rope. Bruce escaped the pit without help from his father this time. After he escaped the pit, he was no longer Batman. Batman was left behind. The Climb represented a new page in Bruce's life. The Batman of the night that once fought tirelessly to seek vengeance against criminals, organized crime, and the corrupt system that led to his parent's demise, died after Bruce conquered the pit. After he defeats Bane in broad daylight, his time as the caped crusader was over. What's left is only Bruce Wayne and a fresh start with Selina. A new life with all the baggage, pain and suffering of Batman left behind. Yet his legend will always continue to live on forever. The legend of The Dark Knight. Phenomenal film and phenomenal trilogy. Thank you Nolan, Zimmer, Bale, and team!

Exactly. Awesome comment. That's the beauty of Nolan's films. You never get tired of watching and dissecting them 20 times. When Alfred told him at the beginning: "you're not Batman anymore, the city needs Bruce Wayne" damn he was right! Here you can see Bruce Wayne demonstrating that he doesn't need an equipped suit protecting him to be stronger than The Batman itself

Mostly correct.... Only wrong about BATMAN BEING LEFT BEHIND BRUCE.... this scene was the Batman being REBORN....hence the title. The dark Knight RISES

Damn straight. This reminds me of being in the COC in Iraq. We see something going on out in town and we roll out in force to help our boys and our Iraqi allies. Stone up.

These films are good enough on their own. But Hans Zimmers music took them to a whole new level.

This only applies to why do we fall only for those who fell for the things which are possible only feared but not like someone falls from the mountain to death and can't rise its limited human capability only cuz that would be ridiculous
