We follow many traditions as Hindus, but do not really understand their importance. Lighting a lamp has many meanings, spiritual, philosophical and practical. In this video I discuss the practical benefits of lighting a lamp.
The Composition of Pancha Deepam Oil mentioned in the video is given below. I have found 2 ratios during my research. Many customs vary across India and this may be the reason fore these 2 compositions.
Pancha deepam oil 1: Sesame oil or Coconut oil ( 35%), Cow ghee (20%) , Mahua/iluppai oil (20%) , Castor oil (15%) and Neem oil (10%).
Pancha deepam oil 2: Coconut oil, sesame oil, neem oil, Iluppai (mahua tree) oil and ghee in the ratio of 3:2:1:2:2 respectively.

So every time I make my daily oil lampe, I must be conscient about what I want to "enhance" 🤔... If I get it wrong, please tell me. I'm here because I'm still learning 😇 I live in France and in winter or in Spring Season, ghee lamp is complexe to keep... Actually I use sesame oil... Very beautiful color of light and the lamp can stay all the day... But now, with your explanation, I feel that I should bring more attention to what I "want" in my life... And should make my lamp with more intention ... 🥴🪔 Thanks a lot !!!
@VedikHeritage
@VedikHeritage 10 ай бұрын
It does not have to be such a complex decision. Just light the lamp with a smile and good intention. Positive attitude alone can help bring all auspicious qualities into the house. Even if your mind is not on it, the light will align your thoughts soon enough. If you want to specifically think about some wish, you may, but it is not mandatory in my opinion.

Very informative video. Can I use any organic ghee?
@VedikHeritage
@VedikHeritage 9 күн бұрын
@@yvetteschaerer yes you can use organic ghee or ghee from regular white butter. Traditional ghee is made from butter churned out of yoghurt. But today we depend on butter and ghee which are readily available. I make my own ghee from both homemade butter and store bought ones. As far as the ghee you buy is unadulterated feel free to use it. Ghee is beneficial in general, but we believe in India that only the Indian cows, now labelled as A2 breeds are the ones with beneficial milk and milk products. Hello Maigul. Each material has it s own vibration, just as you and I too have our own vibrations. All these practices are based on the prana or the energy body of each product. If it is not in resonance with the intended activity, it is not recommended. So, sunflower oil may attract some unwanted energies, which is why it is forbidden.

Hari Om. You may look up information on Akhand jyoti. It is usually lit during certain festival times like Navaratri. It aids one s devotion and concentration. But if you want to keep it constantly lit, there are practices to be followed which you need to learn from learned people. Generally, one is recommended to light lamps morning and evening alone for homes. You may choose to keep it burning for a long period. But once you extinguish before you leave the house it is better to light only in the evening or following morning.once lit it can stay on all day, but relight only at given times. Other times are not recommended for God worship. Hope that answers your question.

what times do you light a lamp ?Sadhguru says light it whole night also ..
@VedikHeritage
@VedikHeritage Жыл бұрын
A lamp is lit for many reasons. Usually it is lit at sandhya kala, morning and evening. From before sunrise upto 3.5 hours post sunrise, it can be lit. Similarly, from before sunset to post sunset. When lit as part of a Puja ritual, it may be lit to start the ritual and put off after the ritual is complete. If lit as a daily practice, it can follow the sandhya pattern in order to invite Lakshmi Devi, the energy Chi, who moves at that time. Traditionally, lamps were lit outside the house too and at night, to ward away evil and bugs etc. Sadguru talks about that when he says light at night. When evil or negative energies are about, the lamp keeps them away and gives you a good night s rest.

Where I can order pure Pancha Deepam Oil to germany? I cannot find any Pancha Deepam Oil with the right five oils in the correct ratio! Very sad.
@VedikHeritage
@VedikHeritage 2 жыл бұрын
@freidenker, it is not easily available in India either. Worse still, many adulterated ones with chemical fragrances too are very popular. But don t worry, it is equally beneficial to stick to single oils. Most traditional households have used a chosen oil for centuries. Either ghee, sesame or coconut oil. Otherwise they use ghee on some days and the other oils on the other days. Each of the ones I have mentioned in the video are special for specific effects. In fact some schools of thought believe in keeping the oils separate and lighting each in a different lamp if required. So, you do not have to go for all the oils unless there are specific problems bothering you. Hope that solves the problem and makes you feel better 😊Hari Om.

😂🤣. Understandable if you re not used to the smell of ghee, it can be difficult. Plus, enclosed areas can enhance the smell. 😃. Alternative oils are coconut or sesame. Again strong odours. One other option which can help us, is to add an essential oil to the ghee like sandal, lemon etc. Traditionally we also add a tiny tiny amount of camphor to the oil or ghee, it has a divine fragrance too. Out of all these options, choose the one which suits your nose 🤥. But the observance of lighting a lamp has proven benefits. Hope you can find a way to help you follow it. Best wishes 🙏🏽
