Why do we use the prayer rope and what is its history? What is a prayer rope ? How is a prayer rope made? What kind of power does the prayer rope have? How do we pray with the prayer rope? What prayer can we say when using a prayer rope? Why is the devil afraid of the prayer rope ? prayer rope is the means that helps the praying person to concentrate his mind, at the acting of prayer. So as the mind first and then the heart to become concentrated on the person of Jesus Christ. prayer rope is a "weapon" of help that we call on our Lord Jesus Christ, we call on Our Lady, we call on the Saints, we call on the angels and we call on all of them to help and defend us. Once upon a time, there was a king and he went hunting with his guards. In the forest they took different directions. Everyone got in their hunting blind. After a while at the place where the King was, robbers attacked. One of the robbers took his gun. The other took his equipment. The other took his hat. The King gave everyhing to them, because he was alone. The last robber said to the King: I will take your flute. The King says: Yes, I will give it to you, but allow me, for a moment, to show you how to use it ... Yes, of course, by all means do so. The robber answered. The King took the flute, and began to play a melody, with which he called his guards. (This melody was a code). Then his guards ran to save the King and arrested the robbers. Robbers are the devils who divest people. The flute is the prayer rope. The sound of the flute is the prayer. When we are in spiritual or physical danger we take the "flute" which is the prayer rope, saying the wish "Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me the sinner" or "Most Holy Theotokos protect me" or "Holy angels advocate for him ... " Saints of God support us." Immediately the guardian angels, the saints, Virgin Mary, our Lord Jesus Christ run to save us from temptation and the hands of the devil and the demons. This is the power of prayer with the prayer rope. We should have the prayer rope everywhere with us. At home, in the car, on us wherever we are and we use it as a powerful weapon of prayer, but also in every temptation or sadness or danger or before we go to sleep.
It is not a decorative element. In this way we apply the exhortation of Apostle Paul from the New Testament "pray without ceasing."
According to tradition, Saint Pachomius in 320 AD, with the help of St. Anthony, founded the first monastery in Thebes in Egypt. Mental prayer was practiced by all the monks either in the Holy Communions or in their sermons or in their personal canon. But the flamboyant devil confused them so that they got too tired. Saint Pachomius after his prayer, Archangel Gabriel appeared, who was holding a prayer rope in his left hand and gave it to Saint Pachomius. Then he took a thread and showed him how to knit the prayer rope in such a way that the devil was very afraid of it and so when the monks were holding the Prayer rope the devil did not tease them. Each knot is cross-knit and consists of nine crosses symbolizing the nine orders of angels. The prayer rope is not intended only for the monks, but also for the lay people. Whoever says the wish using the prayer rope, the devil and the demons go away, because the crosses it contains drive away the devil. Whoever wishes to drive the devil away from him should have with him a prayer rope with which he will ask for the help of God and the saints. But also whoever wants to find peace and tranquility, the prayer rope helps in this, because it brings the peace and tranquility of Christ, the Virgin Mary and the Saints.
