Thank you!!! 99% of the time critics think it’s just a liberal political agenda when it’s just protecting women’s civil rights. If you don’t know what feminism is just say that!

hate to break it to you, but whenever something gets written in the law, like women's right to vote, right to equal pay, etc, it becomes part of politics. however people aren't against feminism because they think it's a political agenda, but rather, they're using political agenda as an excuse to fight against feminism. cause if you think about it, saying "I hate the liberals" sounds a lot nicer than "i hate that women have rights", by associating women's right with liberals, they can attack women's right while they speak against liberals.

Nah I don’t like it because I feel like some people use it as an excuse to be sexist (I’m a girl)

example? btw this tactic of putting (I'm a girl) at the end of your line is exactly the sexism you claimed to hate, trying to make people view you a certain way or change their opinion because you're a girl. Just because you're a girl doesn't make everything you said right. Hate to break it to you but people won't take your request seriously when you're acting like a hypocrite.

@@mingisfixon6452it would be ok if the mainstream feminist movement condemned the people misusing. most people just let it exist, inadvertently condoning the misuse/letting it be associated with the mainstream movement.

@@dian277some and I mean some feminists use the history of the sexes and how unfair it was back then use it against men eg a lot of people say we don't need men at all insert angry emoji but men can't say that they don't need women I think what she means its less abt equal rights and more abt putting women on top of men which is sexist

So I have genuine questions. Based off of your definition how has western civilization not reached equality at least as far as we can on a national/governmental level. There are always going to be some individuals that are sexist or don’t treat women equally it’s already illegal to discriminate based on sex so there is not really anything left to do. Further more is there anything you legally cannot do because you are a woman or even as a woman of color? Lastly you have claimed that even today there is not enough focus and representation of women of color in the feminist movement. I would think at least in America that perhaps since there are more Caucasian women in america that it makes sense there would be a greater focus on that specific group as they make up a majority of women. That being said in general I don’t think that feminism today focuses specifically on white women at all like most issues it has shifted from the majority to the minorities which I don’t think is bad in some cases however I also believe in many cases race does not need to be brought into every issue much like women’s rights because originally based on the definition you have given and I agree with it focuses on the inequality between the sexes not races. An interesting video for sure but I’m just curious on your thoughts on these questions.

Thank you so much for watching the video! To answer your questions: To my knowledge, I don’t believe there is really anything you cannot legally do as a women or woman of color. But discrimination does not have to be explicitly written out to not be experienced. A great example is when women of color go missing or experience violence, they do not receive nearly as much attention from the justice system as white women experience. This is not a law, but it is happening. While crime against ALL women should be an issue that feminism is tackling, the women that receive the most “justice” or attention from public movements speaking out on crimes against women are white. And I agree that race does not need to be brought up in all issues. I only mentioned as a flaw in feminism, but I definitely don’t think it should not be the primary focus of feminism. I hope this answered your questions!

just because something is reinforced by law, doesn't mean everyone comply with it. like murder and rape are illegal for idk how long, but people are still getting murdered and raped. Also, sexism isn't just practiced by breaking laws, but also through social construct and stereotypes, like men will view women sexually unless they're Jesus, women will be judged more on their appearance, most people still view men as more of an authoritative figure, women will want richer men and men will want younger and prettier women, children will take their male parents' last name, and of course parents will ask daughters to do more house work and will more likely to parentify older daughters. You can make things illegal all you want, but it's much more difficult to change people's mindset, which is what's left to do now.

@@tsionmm of course thank you for the response. While I understand that not all discrimination has to be explicitly written out. When it comes to example you give I would say that deals less with feminism and more with cultural issues. My guess is there is just a higher rate of violence and other crime being committed against women of color due to the environment they are in which is a low income environment and so it is near impossible to give the same attention and resources to those cases. In general I think that many of the biggest issues our culture faces primarily sexism and racism have been mostly solved and that the real issue is an economic one. If we were to focus on solving that issue it would improve the lives of the individual and the core issue of sexism and racism because the issue we run into now is more on the individual than any government or cultural entity.
