I can't talk from experience, but I imagine it feels pretty good when someone gets called out for something like instalocking a certain agent, and in response they just play really well and let their skill do the talking

I'm low elo so i dont know this problem, but why do people think instalocking is bad? If you're a Yoru main, why would you force to play an Astra or Brimstone just for composition.. You're just gonna suck not playing your main agent

@@johnnyairplane2896 I think it's expected that most players have knowledge on agents other than just the ones they like. It's perfectly reasonable that your team would want you to play a smoker if there's no one else playing a smoker. If your team already has duelists and no smokers, and you for example choose to play Yoru, you had the opportunity to play a smoker for your team, but didn't. Being good at Yoru doesn't matter as much if your team already has duelists, and no controllers or other agent types. I don't think I've ever regretted picking a different agent over my main if it meant my team had a better composition. If you think you'll suck not playing your main agent, that probably means you should expand your knowledge on other agents. It's definitely worthwhile. As for instalocking, doing that means you're making a decision on the team's comp early on. Instalocking an initiator or controller is fine because it's easier to contribute as them, but the duelist role is more difficult, so you better be really good at fulfilling it if you want that role for yourself. Also, there's just a general stigma against duelists because their playstyles can be somewhat selfish. That's just my perspective. I don't actually play competitive, so take that as you will
