We ran out of gas last week in North Carolina and I wasn't worried because I have nearly a years supply of the things we need. Food, water, gas, meds ect. Thank you for this video.

@@ggstorm9777 Well, I say that anyone that can raise chickens, plant, tend and harvest a garden, collect eggs, can vegetables and fruits, plus do everything else that needs doing, is not disabled. People call themselves disabled because they may have a condition that limits how long they can work, or what kind of work they can do, but that is not being disabled. In fact, if you list all the things you CAN do, you will be blown away , and the term "disabled" will certainly not apply.

Danny, I have coworkers who go to church every week who pretty much roll their eyes and scoff at what I tell them when they ask why I am getting up fruit trees, chickens, bees and stuff to make my mom and dad's home self sufficient. I've been told that I need to stop trying to start my little farm, when I've asked for time off to go aquire these things. I've been asked why do I do this stuff to myself with all these extra chores required by my animals? I simply replied cause I enjoy it and don't want to be dependent on man and the store. This really is a foolish time and generation. People take no thought of tomorrow or not having the everyday norms. Everyone has become stagnant and luke warm. It's so sad and I just feel my heart hit my feet when my own friends think I'm crazy for trying to prepare and provide for my family and our animals. I know the feeling.

I've had people over the years say things like, "Time is money. Think of all the things you could be doing with your time," instead of the things I am doing, like sewing something, cooking food from scratch, canning, etc. And I think to myself, "What are those people doing with their time that is so important? Watching tv? On the internet? Nothing!" They aren't spending their time doing anything worthwhile nine times out of ten, so why should I care what they say or think? At least I'm actually spending my time doing something I like and producing something. I wasn't going to spend the time literally making money (like a job), so what difference does it make if I use my free time to grow a garden or crochet something, etc?

We put a greenhouse in last year and have been able to get a huge jumpstart on our growing season in North eastern Kentucky. I understand fully what is ahead of us!! My husband came in from work yesterday asking if I would give someone a tomato plant that he works with! He said that his coworker had bought 4 plants and 4 large pots to put them in. He said he was concerned about raising food prices! I’m not a stingy person, but if someone lives in the city and thinks 4 tomato plants is really gonna be a make or break for them, how can you help them! This same coworker had no backup heat source this past winter and we had a horrible ice storm with loss of power in areas up to 2 weeks! I could just scream!! We grow approximately 70% of what we eat by gardening, raising hogs, beekeeping, and hunting and fishing. And I know that when everything breaks down it will even be hard for us and I’m a master gardener!! Our day begins around 5 am everyday, that is what it takes! Sure, I gave him the plant, but he would be better serving his family by moving to the country and getting at it for himself! My main concern is my family, and I know that people will be rushing to us for help! We can’t possibly help everyone, especially those who will not help themselves!

Danny you and Wanda are a blessing to all of us! You are a couple who still gives us hope in this evil world that you told your dad about. These days evil is good and good is evil.I have been gardening all my life and had European parents that always had a garden because they lived through the war. When I would go to Germany and see my Oma that had a huge vegetable garden behind her house, huge fruit trees and a field she walked to where she would dig her potatoes for the week. As a child raised in the US I was amazed at this because I lived in the city at the time until my parents moved to the suburbs and had a large vegetable garden. To taste potatoes my Oma dug for dinner that day was like nothing I ever tasted because at that time in this country we mostly had Idaho potatoes and the potatoes in Germany were so yellow and tasted like butter. You did not need to put much butter in them. She would also pick vegetables that day and make a beautiful salad and I would ask her what is that taste in the salad that is so different and she said it is borage . I have been looking for that herb forever and recently found it in Mennonite country in Tennessee and I got so excited and bought it to plant. Put it in my salad last week and It brought many childhood memories back. In the war my grandfather in Germany raised rabbits and that kept his family afloat. Because of the stories I heard I am growing my own vegetables and have chickens and rabbits and quails. I have learned much from you and Wanda about gardening. I have had family that gardened but still learn new things every day about gardening and I have learned much from your KZbin channel. Do not worry about what anyone says because the Bible calls it busy bodies. People are really good at that today sadly. It is Called envy and jealousy and we know what the Bible says about all of that. You and Wanda are godly people and the people I wish to be around. Keep living your dream and using the gifts that come from above that you have and continue with what God has given you to do. Blessings to both of you.🥰

Had to listen to this one twice. The part about being of being of equal yoke really hits closely. The way I often describe it is me and my wife aren't on the same page when it comes to prepping and homesteading, but at least we are in the same book. There are trying times with it, but we have managed to find a way to make it work. It takes a bit extra but it is possible. You just can't have your spouse actively against you. My family appreciates the harvest, and I signed up for this, so as the head of my family, I have to provide and protect them. In the end, my wife and daughter, don't have the same desires to garden, hunt, and stockpile, but they do know that I have it covered. I have noticed my daughter starting to have some of the traits and tendencies, especially when I hear her talk about how her "city friends" don't really get it. Over time, I have noticed my wife even start to move in this direction. For those that say people don't change, that's not exactly true. You have to show them by example and they can change. Two LCEs have shown my family how being prepared can make a desperate situation for everyone else, basically, a non event for us. They also like the fact that we never run out of groceries and they can go shopping in the prepper pantry and basically find anything they need. Thanks Danny for the talk. I enjoyed this one a bit extra.

@@mio.giardino I believe they will. Like I said, they are not against me in preparing or homesteading. They are more or less supportive. They just don't like participating if that's the right word. Much like Danny described his father's attitude towards his mother's canning. They complement my efforts, they just don't find enjoyment in, gardening, hunting, foraging, canning or just preparing. It gets lonely in the gardens sometimes when you want to share the experience with someone. I suppose that has a lot to do with why I started making videos. It's kinda like having someone along with me. I guess that sounds kinda lame. Lol

@@TheSHOP411 No you don't sound lame at all! I am the primary gardener, canner, prepper, forager, dehydrating and fermenting person in my household. My husband helps as much as he can. I have felt like these areas are my department. He works outside the home so I believe firmly that my work and role is to be the homemaker, chief cook & bottle washer. 😊 He does yard work and general maintenance. It can be lonely and I'm grateful to have his support. It's possible that your family will eventually come around. We never know who's watching and paying attention. I have learned from my adult children and grandchildren that repetition plus routine eventually take root. I hope that you receive the encouragement of people like me. I think some people are just have chronic unhappiness and they think they need to pass it on. I have come to the point where I don't care if people think I'm crazy or stupid or whatever they want to say about it for me doing what I'm doing. I have to guard my heart from some of it because it is some close family that does it and some times that negative hateful speech is like a poison and I refuse to drink from that cup.

Because it isn’t something “cool” to do. The mindsets in alot of people today is just unbelievable. Materialistic minds. I have family members the same way. Gotta have that new phone, new shoes, new clothes, new cars and trucks, the kids got to have the coolest stuff. It’s crazy. Then they complain about having no money?🤦🏽‍♂️🤔🤷🏽‍♂️😂Simplicity is a rare trait.

Good morning. They say something because they are afraid you might be right. They think you can’t be right if you are then all there luxuries are for not. I know you are right in this. This is a true story my friends niece said you have two houses you need to give one to someone that needs it. He told her we worked hard for this. She just couldn’t understand. His wife told me it’s where they will go when bad things happen. I smiled said you are prepared she just smiled I said good for you. She also said there are people that will come to that location. I am glad there are some that are putting things away for a later time. They don’t live high of the hog they live a simple life. I thank you and Miss Wanda for all you teach. Danny I agree with you. To me ingnorance, and arrogance go hand in hand. As far as what other people thought about our way of life and supporting our family, if they thought we were stupid or just plain crazy, I would just tell them to pull the cord and get off at the next stop. As it goes our children have listened to good advice and are doing well, except one but lessons will be learned. My wife and I years ago took this world and handed it to God. And the headaches seem to go away. She's passed now but at 70 yrs I keep going keep preparing, for the life we wanted, and the good part my children support me, even when they can. Danny a lot of people out there care, so don't quit giving good advice and sound wisdom, the world needs it. Thanks for listening.

Mormons have always been taught to be prepared, to store food, keep bees and save for the future. I truely wish I could have a root cellar, but water levels prevent in ground storage. I live in middle Tennessee and my garden is growing, but it has been a weird weather year. Stop worrying about what others think and just do what you know is the right thing to do, be prepared and love the Lord.

You are so right with your Godly wisdom, Danny. I went out of town last weekend to decorate my parents graves for Memorial Day. All I could do is thank God for giving me Godly parents who loved me so and taught me scripture. So many today are not giving their family the most important thing in life, not money or fame but they need Godly wisdom and counseling and to know everything we need in this world is in his words. God tells us EVERYTHING on how to live in this world. It is actually, that simple at our fingertips. Once a person comes to the Lord you will hunger and thirst for his righteousness and his Godly counsel. Also, I wanted to let you know I sent last weeks porch time to my step son and the seed took root. He is feverishly making up for lost time and stocking up for his family of 6. Praise God!

My grandparents were never called preppers but they had a cellar and shelves full of food that lasted them throughout the year, I thoroughly enjoy trying to enjoy life and good foods the way they did. I don't know why some have to talk down to others but I do know that I am much happier and more content than they are.
