Anything spicy! I've had GI issues since 2015 and it's now 2023. I take prescription medication to control heartburn, vomiting and diarrhea and stomach cramping, that my gastroenterologist prescribed to me.

Doctor I had severe GERD , pantoprazole was not helping at all because I was not feeling the effects right away it took so long and I felt like it was giving me worse symptoms . I still experience GERD but the heartburn pain is less than before .. I used to expérience throat tightness as well, but it stopped as well, then came back after more than 2 weeks ( also less tight feeling than before ) but still experience it mildly What should I do?

I have been dealing with burning mouth and sore throat. Pain when swallowing. Metallic taste, burning sinuses for about a year. My dr. Keeps saytake ppi's. I take 80mg prantozole and 40 mg ranitidine a day. It doesn't do anything. I avoid the know food triggers. Upper endoscopy shows mild reflux. I don't know where to go from here. My dr wants another neck ultrasound after the first was inconclusive? I don't know what to say, except that I'm miserable.

Stop taking them if they are not doing anything. Get checked fir a hiatal hernia.

Isn't it frustrating to get " mild reflux" as a result when you're on high dosage ? I'm on 80 mg Pantoprazole and Famotidine and my endoscopy AND barium say it's mild! If it's so mild I wouldn't still be having reflux on high dose PPI and bland diet and elevated 24/7

I finish course of antibiotics and acid reflux come night my doctor I start use ppi it's okay to stop them one week if you fell better

Does PPIs help against -> LPR ( Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (Constant cough, Can't speak)). ? Because of the acid going up it make the organism create non stop mucus in the throat, it is not painful but so annoying.

@@MarkCooperMD Hello and thank you. I looked at the video I Do also take Alkaline water and sometimes with baking soda. However I do not suffer much from reflux Its "burning", maybe silent reflux at night, but mostly from the cough every time I speak, Doctor said because of the secretion of Mucus to protect in the throat (I do not exactly now if it is near the vocal cords or inside). Those are the symptom Cough / Mucus production / runny nose, it is not terrible but so annoying. So I look for Solution to avoid taking alkaline water all the time.... LPR. or it could be also the sphincter not closing entirely.

Ive noticed ill have a late lunch at work around 3:00 - 3:30 then off at 5, ill rush home, run on the treadmill and do sit ups and lift some weights, then eat. A few times I've gotten this excurciating pain in my upper chest after I eat dinner. Its this throbbing heart burn that fades in and out, one minute im fine then it comes in and Its hard to breath. is doing physical activity somehow triggering my acid reflux? maybe my lunch wasn't fully digested yet and pushing to heard on the weights trigger this? This only happens sometimes but when it does, it lasts until my sleep, even until the next morning sometimes. I'm experiencing this tonight but I took a Pepcid and it seems to be tackling the pain pretty well, but can still feel it slightly. Thanks

Please get an EGD. You’ll either get a good report or know what needs to be done. Either way you will sleep better. Most likely, it will be fine.

Right now I vomit blood and I've been vomiting past 2 days. I am over weight so I really don't mind cleaning out my stomach. I'm going with the flow my doctor is good for sht. Never there for me, never available. Only 10 mgs and I had severe dizziness and body twitching

For it to be effective, make sure the second dose is taken 30-60 minutes before your last meal.

PPI doesn't work because our stomach needs acid ,low stomach acid causes the lower esophageal spinchter to relax thus the acid reflux .

The lower esophageal sphincter is not controlled by acid. This is made up.

You need acid to digest food in the stomach. Undigested foods due to low stomach acid cause all kinds of issues/ problems including reflux. Long term effects of PPI may be devastating.
