Your technical understanding of the system is very sound. You are spot on with the pressure buildup under the capsule during touchdown is accurate. I don't know how many takes it took you to do this and not burst out laughing. I laughed at every innuendo! Great Video!

Sir, you better have a look at this on radar. What is it? I don't know, sir. It's hard to describe. It's... it's-

Ah I saw this comment to late, just made basically the same one. I was starting to be a bit disapointed that nobody made that reference. "Johnson!" should be the first word on anyones mind in my humble opinion 🤣

What's waaayyyy funnier than the subject of the rocket looking *ahem* phallic-like? Scott Manley describing it a different way every time without actually saying it, lol.

When I was designing the New Shepard launch tower, I would bring a small scale model of the rocket to meetings. Someone would always joke "is that a rocket in your pocket or are you just happy to see me", haha!

Well I mean, the biological version is shaped like that for a reason! I feel like Earth is kinda in its reproductive phase rn w the space program, wanting to sow the old oats as it twere, ofc it's using lots of different techniques, strategies to do so but makes sense this one would emerge

A truly Manley instrument of upward thrust. Anyone ever see the Australian morning TV show that did a piece on NS years ago when it first launched? They couldn't stop laughing over the look.

Phallic comparisons aside, it’s pretty incredible that we live in an era with routine booster recovery and reuse. I do wish we weren’t beholden to the whims of billionaires to do it, but still, it’s pretty incredible.

It wasn't better when it was gov contractors that went over budget, over time, and under achievement... Elon isn't a great person, but reusing rockets used to be impossible, now it's routine. NASA and government contractors would have never done this

@@jokeith492 Sadly you're probably right about this. When it's a corporations own money that's being spent, that corp will find ways to be efficient, but if it's the government's money that's being spent the corp will find every way it can to extract more... Boeing But I would argue that it's entirely possible to achieve the same efficient outcome by keeping the whole project, development and manufacturing, in government hands. It's possible, but you have to find the right people.

Good lord - if NASA had the bottomless pit of funds SpaceX had to fail over and over again, I’ll bet not only could they have gotten it done, but they probably could’ve gotten it done faster and more safety. Where do you think most of the engineers came from? Doesn’t take a genius to spend bottomless pits of money stop mythologizing losers

It first took money of a king to travel across the Atlantic… And it wasn’t any king… Columbus had to find a king with enough dough to do it…. 😃

@@ffsireallydontcareThe Soviet Union’s state-owned design bureaus come to mind. They made some damn good rockets and spacecraft, but the communist system was woefully inefficient in other areas of the economy such as consumer goods, food production, automobiles, computers, etc. In the USSR, there was a huge black market for Western goods like the aforementioned items plus blue jeans, rock n’ roll cassette tapes, cosmetics, etc. It’s estimated that the Soviet “informal economy” did $145B worth of trade during its height in the ‘80s, because the command economy system of communism couldn’t keep up with the needs and wants of the Soviet public.

Very nice treatment of Mr. Shatner's emotional reaction to the flight. Well done. As for all the metaphors, you are a wordsmith indeed! I've not laughed this much at a space video, ever. 😝
