Why Does Captain Rex Have The Strongest Armor? 😳

This is why Captain Rex’s armor is actually stronger than other Clone Troopers!
See, the Phase 2 Clone Trooper armor made a ton of improvements from the Phase 1 design.
But the armor from the chestplate and helmet from Phase 1 was actually stronger and more reliable than Phase 2.
So Rex took the chestplate and parts of the helmet which included the T shaped visor and welded these pieces onto his Phase 2 armor.
We can actually see these weld marks here and there and this gave Rex a more unique look but also a stronger and durable set of armor!

Due to there culture being super similar. And in legends many arc troopers are rescued by mandos and essentially are all mandos

Honestly that armor would have been a good template for phase 3. It’s got the durability of phase 1 and the flexibility of phase 2. Rex is indeed a smart man.

And what did the empire made out of it? Nothing! An inferior stormtrooper armor that is just good enough. One reason more why the Republic, although beeing s little corrupt, still cared much more about their soldiers, while in the empire stormtroopers only used armor that often prevented from dying but not from beeing hurt badly and regular army soldiers? Aside from chest, shoulder and head they didn't really have an armor at all. Just some regular fabric uniform with a little bit of plastoid plating. Cost cutting I guess.

@@arftrooper44 Right, beeing more of an executive force and the face of the empire stormtroopers still needed armor and it was good enough to prevent death in most cases. But still kinda depressing if you think about it. Even the police forces had better armor during the Repblic era. They had less soldiers as a whole, because clones need to be produced while enlisted troopers can be found anywhere, but even for a greater army I think they would've made sure everyone as an armor. But it fits. The Republic, although nor beeing perfect in an way, still carried some of the Jedi spirit while the Empire just set on numbers and intimidation. Great numbers of soldiers die on the battlefield? Who care's? New armor? Of course not, field soldiers are not our face, we need armor for our stormtroopers to dehumanize them and to spread fear.

@@CraftMotion pretty much yeah, we also saw how shitty the condition of the storm trooper armour can be in the Solo movie where he's among the mud jumpers. A stale, authoritarian state with no individuality. Not only were the armours worse but also boring, the only coloured parts being the pauldron of the higher ranking troopers or if you're a specialised unit, such as flame troopers

@@arftrooper44 Exactly! Of course did the clones wear faceless helmets as well, but they were allowed to paint their armor as they want, in rare cases even to the degree you can't tell the unit. I don't know his name but there was this one clone in TCW season 2 who had yellow markings although beeing part of the 212nd Batallion. Or Waxer, I think, he had a painting of Numa on his helmet. By the way, don't you think the clones are pretty talanted artists? And the stormies? Forget it. Even if they have colored markings, those are standard for their unit and profession. With colored pauldrons just showing the rank, similar to what the clones used in the very early days before the Jedi changed it. Clones are supposed to be all the same and blindly follow orders yet they are much more human than the stormtroopers who threw away their individuality on their own account. They willingly gave up what the clones had to fight and die for.

According to the medic that checked on Rex, (Kix?) the blaster shot would have went through his heart. If it wasn’t a few inches to the left. It went through one of the shoulder paldron parts in front of the chest, the chest plate, and then Rex and his back armor plating I think stopped it. He got to survive because there was just enough plating to go through it reduced the overall damage.

Phase 1 could also survive in space, kind of like wings vs tie fighter, x-wing had more defense, had internal life supported systems, and could jump through hyperspace while tie fighters were cheaper, faster (excluding hyper space) and could be more effectively employed in swarm tactics

It was Phase II that was better at environmental protection, you see he took the filters from his Phase 2 and combined them with the visor from 1. He preferred the visibility out of the T visor, and the protection the filter gave. Plus the better comms the phase 2 gave he preferred.

phase 1 armor always holds up those shots. Every clone that got hit survived, thats why the republic only produced 6.5M clones, yet they battle over 600M droids, they always survived and were send to medical care. Ofc if they dont get a medic asap they died, Rex got a doctor fast. When u see a clone get hit and go to the floor, most of the time hes alive, just knocked out XD

I love how anyone and everyone that serves under Anakin’s command quickly learns to be just as creative and intuitive as Anakin. Not to mention they also tend to pick up on his “bad” habits, such as his complete disregard for the rules if he feels they don’t help, his undying loyalty to those he cares about (this one is only bad due to “Jedi can’t have attachments”) and just his overall personality. Like when you look at Rex and Ahsoka post clone wars, they literally radiate Anakin energy at times with their personality. And that’s what made Anakin such a great leader. He inspired and motivated his troops to think outside the box and not always just blindly follow orders.

The reason he did the helmet like this is because: 1. The phase 1 had a better field of veiw and you could see better with it 2. phase 2 had extra breathing holes. (idk what they're called) 3. Phase 2 was sealed so it could be used under water or in areas with low/ bad oxygen. (Oxygen hoses could plug into the air filter things. 3. Phase 1 was stronger.

As far as I remember, Rex survived a sniper shot in the chest armor. Although the shot didn’t hit anything important, I think if it weren’t for the usual and additional standard armor, the shot would definitely have done more damage. In the second phase armor, the additional breastplate did not protect the chest as much, so Rex strengthened it.

Just imagine how powerful Rex's armour would be when combined with Katarn-class armour. Considering how Clone Force 99's armour is already custom-made Katarn-class to fit each member of the Bad Batch, I can imagine Rex would retain his main helmet while upgrading the internals of the visor.

if I'm not mistaken i think he also did the chestplate partially because of that incident where he nearly died to a Commando Droid Sniper. As i think this was still during his time wearing his original armor and after he recovered he realised his armor on the upper torso was what saved his life as the blaster bolt didnt penetrate his armor but still knocked him off his Barc speeder bike. But its debatable whether it was the blaster bolt or the impact when he hit the ground that actually knocked him unconscious though. Another possible inspiration is how Arc Troopers usually have reinforced Torso plating on their upper Torso ti protect vital spots from blasterfire.
