Why does checking credit lower score? (Shop till the Score Drop?)

One of the most common questions I get is, "Why does checking the credit lower the score?". Jess and I go through this and one program Equifax and TransUnion have to make multiple hard inquires only lower the score once. I call it the, "Shope till the Score Drop" rule.
