Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers had babies in their late 40's. One of those babies which is my aunt was more like an older sister to me growing up

I am 47 and I believe I can conceive naturally as I did with my son who is almost 14 already. Dear Dr. Shahine, do you consider I would be having bigger chances if I undergo an IVF using my own eggs (I haven't frozen any) or it doesn't make any sense and the chances are equal for both options (natural conception and IVF trial with my own eggs which are to be retrieved). Many thanks for your wonderful videos, Dr. Shahine! With respect, wishing you all the very best!

Thank you for your kind words. I always want to stay optimistic and anything is possible but most eggs at age 47 do not work well due to age - IVF can be more efficient - work with multiple eggs in one cycle - screen for chromosome imbalance in embryos but it doesn’t make the eggs better. I recommend d consult with a reproductive endocrinologist that can counsel you on your personal situation ❤️❤️

Big thanks for your swift, supportive and honest reaction @drlorashahine! Keep on spreading knowledge, light and hope! ❤❤ I did the consultation with the best specialist in Bulgaria, after I had done all the appropriate blood tests. He also examined me. Everything with me was OK, but my husband's readings weren't good, all the three components of his sperm counts being compromised. That's why the doctor would rather give a try of an IVF cycle with our own "material" than believing a natural conception would occur. Of course, he warned me that the chances were small. I wouldn't choose the donor's egg option because I already do have a child and my husband is absolutely negative regarding whatever IVF at all.

I'd love to see a video regarding high BMI's and their impact on IVF. We've been trying to conceive for over a year, with the last couple cycles being IUI. We're ready to move on to IVF but I've noticed many clinics will not offer IVF options if your BMI is too high, which i believe would be me. Thoughts?

I read that also. But i think every clinic sets their own guidelines. I also have a high bmi.

I tell most of my patients it’s ok to travel after embryo transfer. But it’s best to ask your doctor and the team taking care of you for the transfer. Thank you for watching ❤️🤞🍍

I’m currently going through my second missed miscarriage. First at 13 weeks and this one at 9 weeks. All after already seeing a heartbeat 💔 hoping to get an answer this time and it looks like we may opt for IVF. Can a baby get as far as having a heartbeat and then stop developing due to these chromosomal abnormalities ? It feels like that would only happen very very early on? 😢you also hear about people going to the week 20 scan and getting that news then too

Im sorry for your loss. Ive had 2 miscarriages as well, my last one was a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. Heartbeat detected then stopped and baby stopped growing as well. I did make my appointment with a RE doctor nxt month. Im hoping to find answers, i hope you do as well.❤

I am so very sorry for your losses! Chromosome imbalance is the #1 cause of first trimester miscarriages. It is less likely a chromosome issue at 20 weeks but it can happen.

Thank you for asking. You can call my practice Pacific NW Fertility in Seattle at 206-515-0000. Please note that there are some restrictions on scheduling - we can only see people who plan to have care at the clinic. I am unable to do one time consulting for second opinions. Fertility care and care for miscarriage is an ongoing process so patients living outside of the Seattle area will likely not be scheduled. ❤️🤞🍍
