This video is about Japan's old companies, also called "Shinise". Japan has more 200+ year old companies than any other country in the world.

Corrections - I said Tanaka-Iga was founded in 1885. I meant to say 885. - Apparently I can’t count. Top 4 countries not 5 at the intro.

This is one of the reasons I love Japan. Their family and cultural values are immense and they take great pride in their lineage.

Going to go ahead and apologize for mispronunciations. Edit: I also just noticed the audio sounds a little muffled. Working on fixing that in future videos.

Thanks for a great video! I had encountered plenty of these old Japanese companies before, and they are often mentioned in Japanese media. But I'd never stopped and realized that they are so much more common in Japan than in the rest of the world, let alone the cultural reasons and consequences.

Check out the difference between the Anglo Saxon model of finance and the Rheinland model. That will explain that the number of old companies in Germany and the Netherlands. Strongly related to this subject.

That was interesting, I never realized Japan had so many continuously owned family business. It is interesting that an onsen is the oldest family run business.
