Here’s the problem I have with the legal vs legit argument. Aside from the obvious cheating, they don’t even understand what’s attainable in the first place. It’s kinda like Wolfe’s Dream Ball Raichu situation. I realized that after watching one of Nappy’s Egglockes, as a kid, way back in the day. His comments blacklisted a Pokémon he received because it knew a move that it would learn by level up, but not until a later level, so they thought it was “cheating.” Here’s the thing. If a Pokémon learns a move by level up, and both parents know that move, the child will inherit it. Simple breeding mechanic that I learned goofing around as a 9 year old in the 4th gen, and yet nobody else seems to know this? Did you know TMs could even be passed down in gen 2? Found that out by accident. I don’t think I even knew Girafarig could learn Earthquake at the time.

Yeah kids are even too stupid to understand that a "possible" genned Pokemon literally isn't legal in any way. Hopeless

I was just playing ranked and thinking how there’s some serious power creep these days and you have to play the same six Pokémon. It’s past the point of no return I feel like we need a reset or something.

@BillsLab9 сағат бұрын
I agree, the cheating is an advantage with all the hoops you have to jump through for the meta Pokémon between two game versions, meanwhile hackers just instantly have teams with multiple EV spreads.

And yet.... How does Yu-Gi-Oh still survives when Pokémon VGC & TCG didn't? Ever since the passing of Kazuki Takahashi, and the release of Master Duel? What does Pokémon do to counteract? That is correct, nothing. So again, what has Yu-Gi-Oh done, that Pokémon still doesn't do and/or should?

Couldn't agree more. I play ranked 1vs1 casually in S/V and 9/10 times I am matched against a Japanese player. Sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes to find anyone to match with which only shows that no one plays VGC... The problem is that Scarlet/Violet graphics are dogshit. It runs poorly, looks like an indie game from 2010. And audience they market it to are children... On top of that PvP is not balanced. It's not fun to play esports game that is 99% based on RNG and where it's all about who is able to one shot who first in order to win. To make Pokemon PvP popular and to attract new streamers and players, GameFreak needs to overhaul the whole combat system and balance of pokemon. Heck, I would say get rid of type weakness or make it like do only extra 25% damage. Not double... They also need to move away from this slow turn based system. They should do something like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth has. Make it so you control your pokemon directly and for 10 seconds you play like it's a fighting/action rpg game. Each pokemon would have 4 basic moves like Charmander would have Scratch, Bite, Ember and Growl. And you just control your pokemon, aim, and spam the 4 moves. After around 10 seconds of action mode, the game would go into turn based mode. You choose 1 out of 4 stronger moves like Flamethrower, and then based on Speed stat/priority the pokemons use their stronger abilities with the same mechanics as now. Once they use the stronger moves, the combat goes back to action mode for another 10 seconds. And so on. With this combat the battle would be slower as it would not be possible to one shot opponent even if they are 4x weak to certain type as the type weakness would only deal 25% more dmg. And it would be more skill-based gameplay. Another thing I hate about the ranked in Pokemon S/V is that most of the seasons they allow use of 1 legendary pokemon, and most other "OP" pokemon are not banned or restricted. There should be "Cups"/"Tiers" like in Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Showdown so you can't have Lugia battle against Venomoth... There are 1000+ pokemon but in online ranked everyone uses 30-50 same pokemon. It's boring. I can't use my fav pokemon, I am forced to use the OP ones in order to win. Once in awhile you see a player using an uncommon pokemon like I saw someone use eviolite Magmar the other day. But these pokemon are usually not viable and they lose most of the matches because what chances does Magmar have against Kyogre and a team full of UBER pokemon... Personally, I love little cup. Six lv.5 1st evo/baby pokemon. But I can't play that in ranked in S/V. With Switch2 and Gen10 GameFreak has a chance to bring brand new quality to Pokemon games. But it would not surprise me if we got another bad quality game made with children in mind...
@Verlisify4 сағат бұрын
You lose it on the looks bad and runs poor. The battle system doesn't need any changes since that is the appeal of Pokemon, a deeply strategic turn based game. There aren't any viable esports like it.

I’ve played pokemon on n competitively from 2014 till sword and shield. Unfortunately life has had other plans for me which restrict my time to play. And rather than cheating to get the Pokemon I wanted for my teams, I decided just not to play anymore because my time is so precious and restricted.

@yourdagan21 сағат бұрын
I watched him stream it and I personally felt like it was subpar. And then the proceeding DLC took whatever potential the first had set up for payoff and just threw it away. It was very childish in the way it was all designed, in my opinion. He wasn't that hard on it while playing but to me it was obviously low quality.
@yourdagan22 сағат бұрын
In addition to everything you said in the video: 1. Livestreams have too little gameplay and too much downtime, with ads and filler commentary or even just nothing. 2. The game is extremely unbalanced as well as poorly constructed (one of my biggest gripes is you can't Follow Me a Fake Out), which has led to massive centralization that puts severe constraints on the mons you can viably run and the tactics you can viably employ. Which leads to gameplay that is frequently frustrating, boring, and generally unfulfilling. I started playing VGC with Regulation G last year and also tried Regulation H for a few weeks, and the experience showed me just how far gone this game is competitively thanks to GameFreak's shameless powercreep and careless mechanics-design. I couldn't stand it, and I felt like I was getting nothing out of it. Unless they have some grand plan to finally overhaul the balance and mechanical foundation of the game to bring parity to everything in it, I don't see interest increasing in playing Pokemon competitively going forward. It's true there's nothing else like it at the moment, but that really has just left many people wishing there was another option. I'm sure many of us do not expect things to change with Pokemon.

I won't say anything about the meta or balance since I believe its more a result of cheating than anything.

The only thing I can think of is finding someone to build up to become something worthy of that is a goonful tale. All work big I guess. We've been here and identified this problem for and at the crosswords of the committee will die or not, but Pokemon is such a strong tool that gets people to be imaginative about the future. I hope that we can find ways to build something of someone to be to look up towards.

I will say that I enjoy vgc because of wolfe, but I agree I am more a wolfe content fan than I am a vgc fan. I am also a verlis fan so I am both I know that is weird. I played vgc for a few regionals. The reason I quit playing was to be really good you have to learn a lot of information and test teams. I don't mind building teams, and I have always gotten my mons legit. But the amount of time for testing is impossible as a parent.

I hate pokemon community so much... They cheat theyr pokemon in either by paying some random sites to generate them raids for perfect 6iv shinies. Or they just straight up glitch shiny manaphies, dupe em etc... They cannot play by the rules. They simply incapable of playing these games. Meanwhile, I have an office job where I spend atleast 8 hours a day on breeding for perfect shinies that sometimes takes up to 3 months to get.
