Why does NO ONE talk about Far: Lone Sails?

Far: Lone sails is a rather unknown game in the walking simulator genre, so the question is is it a hidden masterpiece or is it better off left in the dust?

Hey Trev. How about Megaton Rainfall? It's a game where you're literally Superman. It's a pretty amazing game, because you can explore infinite galaxies. It's a small indie game, but it's amazing for what it attempts to achieve. Not to mention the rather interesting storyline. Did I mention it has VR support? Also, another game worth trying: Quantum Conundrum. An interesting little puzzle game from Square Enix. And Rodina, a game by a guy called RaptorMeat. I'm friends with him on Steam, and Rodina is a space exploration game currently still in development, but hella amazing.

@@trevorsimonson You shouldn't have issues playing it on your Vive, when I use my Rift I have to run it in Oculus VR instead of SteamVR because for some reason everything becomes warped and distorted.

I would suggest doing a video on The Last Station. The Final Station is a single player side-scrolling shooter video game with a train simulator and exploration elements. FAR: Lone Sails was recommended to me based on that video game. I like it and hope you enjoy it too.

You are wrong about the story, it has a story. In the beginning of the game, you can see the character is near her/his father's grave and maybe they were on this journey together, but they can't anymore, so the character has to continue the journey without him and leave this abandoned place in search for a better. Also, don't forget the game name is Far: LONE sails. I think developers did a great job. I love the artstyle, music and simple puzzles and short gameplay.

Some good points but you missd the mark in some others the ship gameplay is for you to feel alone thet there is nobody to help you with it and to be honest I love how it is and would like another game like thet and for the second point you came into this with the wrong mindset its not something you can interact or change its something thet tou take in and wonder what happened like journey but overall a good review

A fine video with good points, but ones that I mostly disagree with. At the end you said it fails to be an enjoyable experience. Yet this is one of my favourite games of all time :p

Great content as per ush my liege! The visuals of this game seem cool- I feel like it’s something I’d be attracted to and buy...but maybe not enjoy as much as I thought. I had never really realized what a walking simulator meant in the gaming world so that’s pretty cool. I think the game I recommended the other week, Oxenfree, would be considered a walking simulator, but I actually think it’s a pretty good one? Would love your take. Have a great week!!

Yes oxenfree as far as I am aware is a walking simulator. I have it on steam I just need to get around to playing it.

Thank you for making this video. Having played Far: Lone Sails, I think the main problem is (as you pointed out) the near-complete lack of narrative. The "ocomotive" seems designed for multi-person operation, and since your character is all alone (presumably due to the death of someone at the start of the game), it makes sense for the gameplay to be a bit hectic and repetitive at first. However, I think there should have been a few more upgrades towards the end of the game, in order to remove the grind and provide more room for storytelling. What bothers me is that I actually really enjoyed this game--but it was frustrating at the same time! The game had so much potential, and delivered on some of it. The game kept teasing hope and salvation, but after all the hard work, that is not what happened. What I wanted was a satisfying ending, which I didn't get.

Your wrong about a lot of things, and i don't mean to be insulting but it seems to me you just weren't paying attention? Firstly its obvious that you worked on the ship with a dead loved one your father and inventor of the ships you use to travel the world. The red ship is an modification of the prototype ship he built to run on an all fuel mixture to cope with the draining resources and climate apocalypse; you start the game at a grave and pass by blueprints and then reach the ship still in its scaffolding. You pass many ships and machines that have been abandoned and then pass factories that have been burned out and run out of fuel and resources, finally you pass a giant ship with paintings that show the development of the ships under your father and his company before the climate collapse. The story is decently clear albeit simple, an industrial revolution, unchecked progress leading to stagnation and all the words resources drying up. Your end goal can be decifered from there, you are driving forward using what little is left to find a new fresh start and new hope. But perhaps the most obvious example of fars story is the giant machine with dies after 8 seconds, catching fire and then crashing into a cliff, and you return to your far more practical albeit modest ship. The message about unchecked progress and excessive industry is clear And even your main criticism that the ships requirement for constant maintenance prevents you from appreciating the scenery, isn't that the entire point of the game? Just like the world your in, you spent so long pushing forward and driving your machinery that you never stop to witness the destruction such actions have brought on the world, or to appreciate the beauty thats still left in the world
