Because he wants to do whatever he wants on whatever bike he wants, and he wants a lot of money for it. But he is just not good enough on the road to justify all that, and the road is what brings in the money. Additionally, him and his coach appear to rate him at the same level as MVDP and WVA, with no evidence to back that up.
@snjiraini
@snjiraini Ай бұрын
The comparison is based on his skill set. Cyclocross, mountain bike and one day races. Ineos need to stop turning him into something he is not. Nobody becomes great by focusing on their weaknesses. He needs a team that lets him focus on his strengths. Pinarello even designed their first mountain bike for him, and he won. Focus on MTB and be a legend like Nino, otherwise be a mediocre world tour rider.

@@snjiraini he is a liege/stage hunter type rider capable of winning monuments semi classics and gt stages maybe become the real champion du monde the gc ship has sailed and he should hang up the mtb he is definitely not mediocre just needs to recalibrate he will be 26 this coming year

The sooner ineos and Pidcock realise that he's not a GC rider but a classics rider the better , with the new management if what you read is correct 😂 each rider is being allocated various races/ duties hopefully Pidcock will be given the classics duties
@skorpion3993
@skorpion3993 Ай бұрын
I’ll tell you why, it’s because Tom Pidcock doesn’t do anything for any team, he only does stuff for himself and as a road rider and that’s the last thing a team manager wants. He’s incredibly talented but he can’t TT well and is lacking the final 5% that GC contenders have in climbs, and whilst a good one day racer he still falls short in that department to the likes of MVDP, WVA, Pogacar, Evenepoel and Pedersen. Not only that he’s one of the highest paid riders in the peloton and known to be difficult to manage, apparently wanting to call a lot of the shots at INEOS and his refusal to ride for other teammates most of the time. When you factor in all of these things together it’s much easier to see why most teams wouldn’t want him, alongside him wanting to ride in 3 different cycling disciplines throughout the year. This all being said I do believe Redbull BORA Hansgrohe would be the best fit for him as he’d pretty much be their go to one day and stage racer. I also believe with a lot of their team leaving, Decathlon AG2R could be a potential move.

Thanks for sharing that. It obviously says far more about you than it does about Pidcock. It shows that you are the sort of person who thinks they can judge people's motivations despite having no direct contact or knowledge.

@@MikeAG333 What I said is exactly the same things a lot of other people with and without connections are saying which are either facts made known about and what I’ve seen and heard. I could very easily be proven wrong in what I’m saying, same as we all do.

I can only agree wholeheartedly. Tom Pidcock earns over three and a half million pounds a year and he doesn't perform enough to justify such a salary. Too much time is spent on his hobby of mountain biking, which means that despite his talent he has now been overtaken by riders who focus entirely on what they are paid for. Winning a Grand Tour, or even getting a podium in it, is not within his capabilities because he is really far short of riders such as Pogacar, Vingegaard, Roglic, Evenepoel etc., etc., etc. (and even his own teammates Rodriguez and Arensman) in both the time trial and as a pure climber .... This is of course no disgrace, but then you have to make your high salary come true in another way... For Pidcock this would mean that he would have to focus entirely on the classics, which would mean that he would no longer have the freedom to waste time on mountain biking.... I understand that he thinks mountain biking is great, after all it is also a great sport... But just like cyclo-cross, mountain biking is a marginal sport, a sport that hardly gets any attention worldwide.... That is why he cannot expect any employer to be prepared to pay him the same as Ineos does. After all, an employer doesn't pay you millions a year to do your hobby, but to win road races.... Tom is not prepared to give this up, and there you have the answer as to why few other teams have any interest in Tom Pidcock.... After all, there are many other riders who can do exactly the same as Tom Pidcock, and they are cheaper and are available the entire season...

@@MikeAG333only thing your comment says is that you’re a Tom Pidcok shill and that you are ready to justify all the controversy and drama that this rider has created around him in exchange for a road palmares that is only average at best and woefully insufficient for a rider with his salary. The guy has 5 professional road wins, enough said.

My opinion of Pidcock changed a lot after I watched the Netflix series, dunno if that's how they wanted to portray him, but it did seem like a very difficult character, that sometimes would not follow team orders or ride for others. He probably wants to go to a team where he can be the outright leader, everyone working for him, still for all that cash he earns now. A lot of teams will see that as a problem... bringing in someone that will upset the ranks, and maybe still not win much... very risky. Plus, as I write this, it's been confirmed by Ineos that he's leaving...

I think Redbull Bora Hansgrohe would be the best choice, but the question is if he should actually even focus on beeing a grand tour racer or rather on classics which seems more fitting. Perhaps he is a bit more MvdP than Pogacar or Vingegaard?

@jamesporter5630 Ай бұрын
"I can do that." Yeah, Tom you probably can but you can't do ALL OF THAT. At some point you have to decide what kind of racer you want to be and focus on that discipline. The rider that's beating Tom Pidcock in July is Tom Pidcock in December.

Pidcock is a very good racer , i think you would make a one day classic racer, much better than GC he just doesn't seem to have the mental stamina. To work with the press In the character, it takes, you need a total package for that, and he just doesn't have it.. If you look at all the greats they all have one thing in common. They were all great with the press, and all were great leaders with their team. And they could overcome anything. He does not have any of that.

Pro cycling is a business. And sponsors want value for money. Sadly Pidcock as a brand, has been devalued,over the past 12 months. The price of a asset is .“ The present price of future value “ Pidcock will, bring wins . But at what cost? That’s what sponsors will be looking at. Coupled with a over inflated price, compared to his contemporaries who have outperformed him. When is current deal ends his agent will not be able to get anything like as much, even if he preforms.

He could win the road WC and have that mtb, cross, road triple plus 3-4 monuments. Is that enough for a big road team contract? Cant see a grand tour podium. But if hes focused maybe. Any team will need to sit him down and thrash out some commitments from him.

He wants to be part time, in a sport that requires a huge team effort for a season. He needs to pick his version of cycling and stick to it. doesn't help that peoplr have talked him up too much and he has been overpaid the value of his road results because of that. He naturally wants the peleton salary, which is vastly higher than MTB or cross.

A theory. How can a guy so so strong in one day races and short tours be off the pace in grand tours? He is built perfectly for GT's as well, being slight and strong. A not discussed answer is that maybe he is not micro doping like the others, thus compromising his ability to recover day after day. Note: i understand that the main focus of dopers these days is micro dosing, which accelerates recovery needed for strong GT performance. Micro dosing is almost impossible to get caught doing as the amounts are too small to show up and there are no material changes in blood markers (i.e. topped back up to normal level) If this is true, it would explain why he wants to focus on one day events, e.g. mtb, cross and road classics.

For some reason people seem to be personally offended by his salary and attitude, I imagine in no small part because of the overly dramatic largely bullshit netflix series.

@@mattfearuk That he’s massively overpaid is not his fault at all. Him and his agency have done amazing to get the contract they did. The fault there is squarely on the Ineos management. But the question is, why don’t other teams want him…. Well the answer is that because he’s paid like someone who will consistently podium grand tours, whereas in reality he’s won 3 races the last 2 years
@mattfearuk
@mattfearuk Ай бұрын
@@johnmcdonald736 who gives a shit if he's 'overpaid', I don't. He will eventually prove how good he is, not every rider progresses at the same rate, G didn't win his first tdf until he was 32, Pidcock is currently 25, has plenty of time to podium a grand tour imo and if he doesn't his salary will eventually nosedive, end of.

I really hope he moves. Ineos are in deep need of a reboot and Pidcock is in deep need of a reality check. Sure he's good, but he's nowhere near as good as his ego thinks he is. TP wont win any grand tour, and likely not to win WC. He doesnt ride for a team and others, and no one is gonna step up to help him when it matters. National teams are not payed so the GB riders are not gonna go all out for him. He lacks diciplin, endurance and fankly talent for the GC. If you strip away his MTB titles he really doesnt have much to show for it, compared to the other riders that crossed over. He is behind MVDP and VWA in every statistics that matters.
